Good riddance, he probably change his mind again though knowing him. Hopefully Todt being reccomended by Max will count against him. As for the 100 messages of support, I bet there were 100 times more of them telling him to go. Oh well once Bernie is taken care of, F1 will be a sport again.
Politics has affected all the teams not just Ferrari. Stop making lame excuses to your shareholders Stefano.
stormwarning it is not how much money he has. It is what he's doing to the sport. Hardcore fans who want to attend every GP now have to spend fortunes and travel many thousands of miles to do that at great expense too I might add. The push from cost cutting is hypocritical when teams have to transport tonnes of equipment to all corners of the globe. The rule changes which nobody else wants, that he instigates are another reason why everyone hates him. The bottom line is he contributes nothing to the sport and bleeds it dry, so he will not be missed.
F1's problems will not go away until he does. He is a long way past his useful days and is only bleeding the sport dry with his greed and antics.
deepwater330 maybe you're right about FOTA struggling to organise a championship. They'd do a great deal better than the current state of affairs caused by Mosley though.
I don't think FOTA are gullible enough to make the same mistake twice.
Anyone but Mosley. GO VATANEN
I've been saying for a while that MotoGP is far superior to F1, with all the nonsense that goes on with bureacrats trying to destroy it fewer people seem to disagree.
Every time FOTA threaten to breakaway and don't, they lose credibility. Max has far from given up on his underhanded tactics. They need to make an immediate, final decision to breakaway now or pander to Mosley.
Hope he is given a very hard time.
FOTA should have broken away when they had the chance.
Balestre seems to be missing from that list? The fact that he was too dictorial was the reason for Mosley's appointment.
It was time for him to go long ago. Absolute power corrupts absolutely, him and MM are perfect examples of this. It is laughable how these people said Balestre was dictorial and now equally dictorial people have replaced him. FOTA must be seriously regretting not breaking away when they had the chance. While these people are there F1 will only go downhill.
Maybe Bernie and Max are making excuses for the way they do things. Nothing they say shocks me anymore, we all know that they are so far past their sell by date that they can't remember what it looked like when they passed it.
jamiec666 absolutely right, people who can't take losing don't have the intellectual capacity to look at facts and they also glory support.
He deals with defeat a lot better than some the cry babies who have posted comments so far.
In denial eh deepwater330? Speaking of "slinging mud at each other like a bunch of schoolgirls" what would you call referring to the team principals as loonies and Sir Jackie Stewart as a certified halfwit then? Or are you going to deny that too?
More likely Manor are withdrawing entry as yet another Mosley/Donnelly conspiracy has been uncovered. Talk about corruption
Mosley would wait until breakaway plans were abandoned now wouldn't he. FOTA, will regret not breaking away when they had the chance and taking the word of Mosley is a cardinal sin.
deepwater330 you must be crying a river now that your hero has been unceremoniously ejected from the FIA, long overdue it was too.
Yes that's right, there's now nothing to stop Bernie moving F1 into the middle of the desert. Well done FOTA.
Any future breakaway threats will never be taken seriously now. FOTA will regret this as Mosley was far from the be all and end all of F1's problems. Mosley maybe gone but very little will change.
F1 takes one step forward and 2 steps back. Mosley goes but what changes? Good circuits still abandoned in favour of lifeless ones, rules still changed against the wishes of teams and fans. Politics still taking centre stage ahead of racing.
keep Mosley on so that F1 can keep him and Bernie and FOTA can give the fans what they really want.
It's pretty clear that either Mosley goes or the teams go. Otherwise FOTA wouldn't care about what happens in the WMSC meeting.
Max might not have any choice. I hope he is kept as president. I really want the breakaway to happen and Max and Bernie to be left with the crumbs like they deserve.
A shame F1 has started to embrace it too late. It would make the perfect venue for the first race of the breakaway league.
If I was in a helicopter with Max and Bernie, I'd jump. Parachute or no parachute.
I think everyone knows that I hate this bloke with a vengeance, but he is not the only problem in F1. The loss of real circuits which are being replaced with unworthy ones with empty grandstands and the fact that the commercial rights holder couldn't care less what the fans want is an even bigger problem. FOTA don't back down even if Mosley goes.
Good to see Mosley's stance falling apart. This has to be the beginning of the end for him.
I agree a breakaway would be a total disaster for him and his ill-deserved revenue.
Yes, no more budget caps for the big teams providing they commit for 5 years. More revenue for the troll and Max gets to do what he wants a year later than planned. Oh yeah and another veto and bribe for Ferrari.
A fine display of leadership and someone in need of a mirror. I'd like to see deepwater330 try to defend this.
Too little, Too late.
Too little too late PR bandwagon.
Nice mind games Max, FOTA aren't going to stay just to stop you from staying on your sinking ship.
Davratta, it is ironic you bringing up Happy Days as today is the day that F1 jumped the shark.
stormwarning I agree that the problems won't just go away like that. But F1's problems are a leech, a Vindictive man who strives for power and uses his power to crush his enemies and a team that is bigger than the sport. The Alliances in the past between these three have made the sport a total farce and a permanent, irreconcilable split can only be a good thing. It remains to be seen whether the breakaway league has the same problem regarding an uneven playing field, but the two people mentioned have power that is now dropping like a lead balloon and if all goes ahead as planned the ownership of the name F1 will be the only power left. This is the only way forward and it can't be worse than what was there before.
FOTA didn't act in good faith? Pots and kettles FIA and FOM you dish it out, you get it back. PS It is extremely enjoyable to see your empire falling apart around you. Enjoy the old folks home, it's all you deserve.
Is PlanetF1 going to remain that way, or become PlanetFOTA and leave F1 and the people who have killed it to steady declines.
Congratulation to FOTA for doing what HAD to be done. I speak for many people when I say that Mosley and Bernie will not be missed and guess which series I'll be following. It will be great to see the real circuits back and to see the desert circuits covered in dust. To quote Bernie "FANS WILL SEE SOME REAL RACING NOW."
This is simply a game of chicken and if they collide the FOTA car will have much more damage than the FIA car. FOTA have an invitation to join LeMans which would gain a lot of ex F1 fans. Ferrari are big enough to run their own breakaway league and the MotoGP commercial rights holder seems happy to do business with FOTA. The FIA has many F3 teams and if FOTA leave, F1 will become another A1GP, or feeder league for the real motorsports. FOTA only need a spine to win this and they're better off without the FIA.
FOTA don't be so gutless. As long as Bernie, Max and the Ferrari favoritism are there then F1 is a joke. I watched MotoGP on sunday and saw some exciting last few laps with Lorenzo and Rossi going all out to win the race and it reminded me of Spa 08. Only this time the stewards didn't award the race win to the red Italian bike way behind the battle. This statement only signifies that Mosley has all the aces and those who have the power are too gutless to do anything about it. Mosley 1 - 0 FOTA
They both know where each other stand. So if both parties stand their ground, the breakaway series or LeMans are the only options. So why are they bothering to continue negotiations then? Why don't FOTA unveil breakaway plans like discussions with TV companies to prove to the FIA that the breakaway series is a credible threat?
How about the FIA get charged for bringing the sport into disrepute and appear before the WMSC? A shame for Brawn & Button as this year will not be remembered for them winning their first title.
Sour grapes, there's no 2 ways about it. When Ferrari don't get what they want they moan about how unfair it is. But really it's just a case of the pot calling the kettle back.
To some extent, I disagree with this article. Not because I like the governance but because the resemblance to the FISA-FOCA war is uncanny. Once FOCA got what they wanted they turned on everyone who didn't fully support them and the people responsible for the mess F1 is in at the moment were key figures for FOCA back then. Luca could end up being the next Bernie with Howett being the next Mosley it's the cycle of events for F1 and the common problem is power-hungry egotists, when one falls he is replaced by another. A compromise will only brush F1's problems under the carpet to solve its problems F1 needs a MAJOR overhaul.
F1's loss is Le Mans' gain. I know some people are disappointed but the fundamental flaws of F1 have needed to be addressed and this is the result of that. This article however suggests that Ferrari, Bernie and Max will all get exactly what they want.
I disagree with Damon on one count, the politics has already done all the damage a breakaway series could do. There is no sport with B&M, destoy and rebuild is the only option to save the sport.
Goodbye Bernie, you will not be missed by ANYONE take your business to the middle of the desert and stay there.
Please explain how this is progress.
Very clever Mosley, does anyone really think that the manufacturers will enter F1 on Mosley's terms and expect to obtain the support of new cash strapped teams on abolishing the budget cap? There wouldn't be new teams if it wasn't for the budget cap and the manufacturers aren't that stupid. Mosley is pushing his luck even by his standards.
The on-track action is becoming the forgotten part of F1. We all know the Mosley has been issuing an ultimatum from early on so either breakaway or pander to him. There doesn't seem to be much inbetween these 2 extremes.
FOTA is falling apart and Max's power is growing exponentially. Start your own league while you still have 8 teams.
The only "solution" is for FOTA to yield to Mosley as he now has enough teams to go on without FOTA. If FOTA haven't got the guts to breakaway, Mosley wins it's that simple. Max thinks that FOTA's threats are hollow so he will not give an inch, FOTA grow a pair and BREAKAWAY.
There was never any way that F1, Max and Bernie could ever be separated so this had to happen sooner or later. Keep your heads up people Formula Uno will have 9 of the teams, no OAPs and the circuits rendered obsolete by you know who. Whereas what's left of F1 will go where nobody cares about the sport and can be left to fade away with the people who have killed it.
Enjoy the last season of F1 Kimi.
CarlosPoya, wasn't Kimi saying that it isn't a driver's job to develop the car? As far as I'm concerned the best way to judge a driver is by comparing him to his team mate, provided both drivers are given the same opportunities.
Yes he can he's inflating Alonso's Prima Donna ego.
ARNETT, the official and unofficial word about that is very different. We all know that the odds are and always have been firmly stacked in Ferrari's favour.
Four confirmed looks like a full grid with Toyota withdrawing. If anyone else submits an entry, then one of the FOTA teams will miss out. Rumour suggests that Renault will be team Flav next year.
I'm with velocityboy if FOTA don't come up with alternatives to F1, they have no bargaining power and for this reason I don't blame Williams for jumping of a sinking ship.
I have questions about who the target audience is for a night race in Abu Dhabi. The eastern night races are apparently to suit European times so why have a night race at somewhere that's fairly close to European time?
Interesting, I thought that anyone who cuts chicanes had 25 seconds added to their time even if they hand the place back immediately. Looks the the two tier system of rules is already in force. Maybe they should appear before the WMSC to answer a load of made up charges while we're at it.
Ah deepwater330, how comfortable is that fence. Mosley is right but Ferrari are also right. Come on what needs to be done about this then?
This is encouraging for Max Mosely, who will be the next team to yield?
Ah deepwater330, I'm becoming a fan of Max. He's doing a great job of putting the Maranello Muppets in their place.
Kubica has just gone up massively in my books.
Wow what a time to be a lawyer.
Well it's not old news to F1 fans and contributes to turning the sport into a farce. This whole problem has come about because of a certain team being bigger than the sport. It is just just a commercial advantage when the extra unearned money is used to develop the team and pay driver wages etc. PS the team officials are making diplomatic statements, it doesn't mean that what they are saying is their true feelings.
DNFTT
Has Bernie only just realised this? Maybe he should leave instead or better still as well. Just have a $100 million budget and have done. When budget caps were first talked about Max said it is best to pitch things like this on the high side and subsequently lower it to a realistic figure.
Last ever Monaco GP? This will be a coveted win for someone.
Ferrari should stand downwind. They may end up having to buy one of these teams just to get back into F1.
Ferrari put their own interests ahead of F1 many times as has the troll. But as for Mosley saying that, classic case of the pot calling the kettle back.
This is exactly what I've wanted but it's a shame it's come to this. Friday next week we'll all know what's going to happen and it won't be a tame end. Bernie is likely to come up with a rescue deal for Ferrari even if other teams sign up. So it's not over for F1 yet and it's not over for Ferrari either.
obiswift this is what we come to expect from teams who can't win fair and square on the track despite preferential treatment.
Divided loyalties deepwater330? I was interested to see who you'd be siding with on this. Don't get me wrong I would like to see a solution to this but I can only see things getting messy if this is being discussed at the end of the season and some of the grid slots are being filled. If small teams sign up next week to be capped, things will get messier still if the cap is then removed.
I bet he'd settle for an ice cream instead
Even off the track these things keep happening.
Prediction on future events. Mosley gets his way with the rules, but loses out on the next election to be FIA president. Jean Totd replaces him and things go back to square 1.
Why should Ferrari be the only team with a veto. The whole rulebook needs to be rewritten to allow teams EQUAL treatment and to stop people who don't know what's best for the sport making dictorial decisions.
Does anyone find it ironic that the FISA-FOCA war is repeating itself. The worrying fact is that the war was resolved by giving Bernie the commercial rights and Mosley ended up becoming FIA president soon afterwards. Balestre was thought by many to be interfering with the championship results and dishing out penalties for incidents that didn't warrant it, so Mosley was appointed to relieve the sport of dictorial rule. FOCA who were the teams then are now the administrators and are at war with the current teams. Now we my be about to witness the climax and I'm wondering if this time the sport will be better off afterwards, it wasn't last time.
watchcam that sounds like a good idea for Ferrari's own breakaway league well done.
I second that f1nestkind. I'm hoping that a collision does occur though. There are certain people in f1 who have long overstayed their welcome.
Slade thought you'd disappeared. FYI there's only 2 things I hate about Ferrari, their cushy deals with senior figures in F1 and a certain percentage of their fans. So yes I'm hoping heads roll over this. I think you know which ones too.
On the plus side, this could be end of the manufacturers' oligopoly.
If YOU had some common sense then it would be a good place to start.
I've loved every minute of it. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.
OK this is a nail in the coffin for F1, but Ferrari will probably start a breakaway league and many fans will follow.
I know there will probably be twists, at least they aren't going down spinelessly.
Maybe Ferrari should take Kimi's ice cream away if he fails to score points.
deepwater330 - the same way that football clubs are responsible for fans racially abusing away team players and general hooliganism. The onus is on them to hire security and stamp this out. If the Spanish people lose out on GPs they will find out the same way that South Africa did that racism is unacceptable.
Please Donnelly Massa and Ferrari are in desperate need of your help.
F1 has an unhealthy tendency to think of a good idea, then contradict it in the same breath. Cost cutting and introducing KERS and street circuits. Helping overtaking and double decker diffusers. The logistical costs of F1 are ridiculous, transporting so much equipment and cars too all corners of the globe even places where nobody cares about F1. Bottom line F1 needs a 21st century makeover.
Kimi doesn't even have the motivation to do anything in a the best car let alone a car that is anything less than the best.
HOPEFULLY THIS ISN'T OUR LAST CHANCE. Hopefully your last chance has already gone.
I'm not surprised that BMW are thinking of quitting. With the muppet show that changes rules to inflate their egos why would anyone bother to stay.
Getting upto midfield in the first place will be the challenge for Piquet.
Bannor - Interlagos 06. It seems like the diffuser advantage is wearing thin. Hopefully BrawnGP et al can keep the Maranello Muppets in their place.
Anyone want to do a demonstration in Paris? Goodbye F1, FOTA breakaway league is badly needed F1 is not a sport anymore and this year's winner will be the last ever real F1 champion.
Most up and coming drivers think this could be Renault's last year so the competition is for a Lola or ProDrive race seats instead of Piquet's soon to be obsolete one.
I bet you will Bernie.
Go on Bernie keep F1 going downhill and the breakaway league won't have any competition.
Bannor good to see that someone else has read this article and not just the title. We both know that McLaren and Hamilton kept a low profile so that they weren't witch hunted even more by the FIA. Although I do sincerely hope that the Hamiltons and McLaren are grateful for what Dennis has done even if it is kept behind closed doors.
I echo that Ferrari_R_Cheat, please invite me to your party. To all you F1 is Ferrari fantasists, 90% of the most disgraceful moments of F1 in recent times have centered around your team. At least with them gone it will become something resembling a level playing field. Arrivederci Ferrari close the door on your way out.
I bet the FIA president will be pleased about this. Ron Dennis can now be remembered as the saviour of McLaren as his last act in connection with McLaren was to save them from a witch hunt.
Have people looked at the new regs? http://argent.fia.com/web/fia-public.nsf/839C2B08FE7FE57EC12575A80045896E/$FILE/1-2010%20F1%20TECHNICAL%20REGULATIONS%2030-04-2009.pdf Basically it will be two-tier much like the double decker and non double decker diffuser teams throughout the year. The scope for innovation isn't much higher. The adjustable wing has more freedom the engine speed limitation is removed and the KERS restrictions are much more relaxed.
Sorry this won't work. FOTA please hurry up with the breakaway league.
FISA-FOCA war all over again. FIA-FOTA-Bernie war this time the break away league may come as soon as next year if Bernie carries on like this. I know which league I will be following.
BigCatCarpo - What goes around ... yes?
Does this mean that teams that accept the cap can use cars with jet engines and the lethal ground effect and active suspension combinations?
UK Government don't spend money where there won't be a return. Without a British Grand Prix the sport will only continue going backwards leaving the opportunity for an overdue breakaway league.
This may seem like good news for McLaren fans but it gives the so called authorities a licence to witch hunt for anything else that can even be twisted into something wrong and enforce the ban. On the plus side though some demented Ferrari Fantasists will be crying all over their lollies.
The next 3 races will only decide the title if Button wins all 3 of them. If the idiotic medal system was in place the next 3 races could almost literally decide the title.
Nice bit of three week too late backing
Renault seem to be throwing their toys out the pram at every opportunity. I wonder who they picked that up from?
Good to see Massa stepping up to the plate
It's is laughable that 6th place becomes a reason for celebration for the most pampered team in sporting history.
A bad workman always blames his tools
Get over yourselves, it is not down to taxpayers to pay for what is becoming a circus.
A bad day for you is always a good day for me.
Amazing how obsessed people get about Vettel when he does anything good. When he's a consistent winner and leader of the championship, THEN I will start thinking of him like everyone else does.
On the plus side the Maranello Muppets are showing no signs of improving. I will be celebrating very hard if Ferrari achieve their record of 0 points in their first 4 races of the season.
Bernie spits in the face of tradition. Anyone who wants to help shouldn't watch races on circuits which don't belong on the F1 calendar
Long may it continue.
Ain't going to happen until Ferrari develop a good car. What goes around comes around.
If any of these drivers make it into F1, I wonder if people will say that they were born with a silver spoon in their mouths and because they didn't do their time with a lower team, they can only be considered mediocre no matter what they achieve.
Spode I started as a normal F1 fan but after reading the filth that people (predominantly Ferrari fans) post, I felt this urge to rub their noses right in it. After the favours Ferrari have been getting, I have a very low opinion of them. Of course I also have a few hidden agendas but you can thank the likes of robson for my presence.
deepwater330, let me explain there are many drivers out there that are the target of abuse. By 'coincidence' these drivers have been at the top of the field in recent times, hence the reason why Hamilton gets abused more than anyone. Most people do it to wind certain people up, while others do it because it has become fashionable to do so or because of sour grapes. Let's face it, this is PF1 so nothing is going to change.
deepwater330 please tell us why people aren't against McLaren. I've already proved they are many times.
If his motivation is high now, imagine when his motivation declines into last season's level.
Interesting advice Ronn. Strangely though I get much more pleasure out of watching the Maranello Muppets humiliating themselves than I do watching McLaren. Like I say this season has been very enjoyable so far I'm sure you agree 0 POINTS!!!
AndyP you seem very quick to give it all that. So please remind me how many world championship have you won? How many points have your team got this season? I think that says enough go and buy some sweeties to cheer yourself up and get rid of that sour taste.
I am really starting to love this season. People like the Maranello Muppets and ForceIndia with buckets of ching ching. Just shows it's not how much money you've got, it's how you use it. The limping mules don't know how to use it anymore without Brawn and Schumacher.
Have some of that Ferrari Fantasists. That should keep you in your places
No points again for the Maranello Muppets ha ha ha ha ha. I'm really beginning to like this season and I'm picturing just how downcast the Ferrari Fantasists are feeling at the moment.
They'd be quicker pushing Alonso around in his pram
Flavio for FIA president. Is that not what past and present FIA presidents do in order to ger their own way? BTW Flavio please leave Renault I already have 1 team to hate and I don't need 2.
Well Ferrari never acuse other teams of breaking the rules now do they?
Couldn't happen to nicer people.
Looks like Lewis won't get his dream car for winning 3 titles now.
You weren't saying that before the diffuser hearing were you?
Vettel had a similar start to last season. Heikki prove that you're good enough while you still can, McLaren are at the mercy of some tyrants.
Your team should have started in January then Fernando.
A shame that Dennis isn't better respected by Hamilton Snr. Very gallant of him to shoulder the blame maybe it's because Mosley's personal vendetta is against Dennis rather than McLaren.
Closing the door after the 'prancing' horse has bolted. I seriously can't understand why every team hasn't started designing a double decker diffuser back in January. I bet they're regretting it now.
deepwater330, you do know domformula1 is a Ferrari fan don't you? Thought you guys stuck together.
A lesser man would start boasting. Good to see Brawn is humble in victory.
The only sensible decision. Anyone think that these diffusers will be banned next year?
What planet is Tozzi on? "It was Max Mosley who said recently that costs must be reduced by limiting the opportunities for technical innovation." Mosley has been whinging about refinement taking over from innovation. biso9700 - I have to disagree with you on the legality of the diffusers. Please let me explain the section which is greater than 175mm above the reference plane is LEGAL because the lower diffuser renders it invisible from beneath the car (see section below) I fully agree with everything else you've said though. 3.12.7 No bodywork which is visible from beneath the car and which lies between the rear wheel centre line and a point 350mm rearward of it may be more than 175mm above the reference plane. Any intersection of the surfaces in this area with a lateral or longitudinal vertical plane should form one continuous line which is visible from beneath the car. A single break in the surface is permitted solely to allow the minimum required access for the device referred to in Article 5.15. Additionally, any bodywork in this area must produce uniform, solid, hard, continuous, rigid (no degree of freedom in relation to the body/chassis unit), impervious surfaces under all circumstances.
Even if the diffusers are declared illegal, it would seem grossly unfair for the teams to be stripped of all points because they use designs which were said to be legal before the season and by the officials at each race so far this season.
Looks like some of the drivers have been getting their digs in at the nick of time. Lets see if the FIA want to disgrace the sport anymore by outlawing the diffusers and stripping the 3 of all their points. Maybe it's time rest of the teams got over themselves and designed one of their own before it is too late.
Most intelligent article to be posted by Andrew Davies. A shame that the FIA the media and half the PF1 viewers don't share his intelligence. We all know that this witch hunt is about personal vendettas rather than any form of justice.
They are legal as designed then. Once they use lasers which are normal to the reference plane it will become obvious that they are legal or otherwise and we can get on with racing and the rest of the teams can quit whinging and design their own.
Absolutely right SirJibby, a nail in the coffin of F1 as we know it.
Half a race with more people watching it seems to be what Bernie wants. Shame I won't be watching it whatever time it's on.
Naughty boy go sit in the corner and think about what you've done. F1 is becoming more and more pathetic each day. Can we scrap all this politics and have some old fashioned hard fought racing on the track and on the track only.
domformula1 I would have agreed with you this time last year, but F1 has lost its prestige and is rapidly becoming a muppet show. At least races are won on the track in IRL and NASCAR.
McLaren, leave F1 in the mess that the OAP have created and go to IndyCar and watch F1 fall from grace and take Mosley and Ecclestone with it.
I'm afraid I have to contradict thefasteddie. All alternative fuels have their flaws. I actually did my MSc thesis on alternative fuels and hydrogen is flawed because it has to be cooled to -253 degrees C in liquid form to be stored which means a special and very heavy fuel tank. If leakage occurs as a result of a crash, then the liquid hydrogen could cause severe burns and vapour could catch fire. As for production, it would require more energy to obtain it than could be used on a car. Water emission actually contribute more to global waming than CO2 (look it up if you don't believe me.) Biobutanol however would increase performance at the expense of slightly heavier fuel loads.
KERS is becoming like the catalytic converter. There is more pollution caused by making the KERS system than it will save while it is being used same as the catalytic converter. After slagging off biofuels he should then say why he mandates that 5.75% of fuel used in F1 is biofuel. If you want to help the environment reduce fuel consumption. Another suggestion instead of a KERS button used 10 cylinder engines where the extra 2 cylinders are activated when the button is pressed. Or restrict the engine speed to 15K rpm which becomes 20K rpm when the button is pressed or go old school with the nitrous. Anyone got any other ideas?
I find PF1 viewers amusing. After 2 races people's opinions and comments change so much. Ferrari have gone from the best team by far to the team they were in the early 90s. I hate Ferrari probably more than anyone else on this site and I think it's premature. McLaren and Hamilton are now back to the spygate days. BrawnGP are now the rulers of F1 and many haters have turned against Button who has inherited all the arrogant jibes.
TGovender, you should look up the "ground effect" before saying that the teams should raise their ground clearances. Besides which aquaplaning is NOT caused by ground clearance it is caused by tyres being unable to to cut through the standing water.
He shouldn't just forget everything that McLaren has done for him because of this.
Well done Schumi please stay at Ferrari. You can see why Button doesn't want him at Brawn.
If that was true then Renault would be top of the non-diffuser team. Oh they're not, go design a double decker diffuser and shut up and race.
Non-European fans, you seem to be talking as if Europeans all like the troll and his half baked ideas. In truth we hate him and his sheer arrogance and idiocy. Since F1 is becoming more globalised, it seems very odd to have races in anti-social times for the locals. It is also disappointing to see TV ratings put above driver safety.
Just a thought, if Button finishes the season on 7 wins and another driver has the same number of wins who would win using the Bernie system. One of Button's wins is half a win as the race wasn't completed so would he then lose the title because of the FOM's incompetence.
witchhunt nothing more to say the FIA are a complete disgrace.
If they hire Schum then people will think the success is down to him rather than Brawn who is the real hero.
All is not well in Maranello. Hopefully it will stay that way.
Does anyone think that bringing GPs far east to increase F1's global appeal but having races at European times is a huge contradiction.
Couldn't happen to nicer people.
nai777 in Britain there are a lot of sore losers and for that very reason a lot of glory supporters (you only have to follow football to know that.) These people I've already mentioned hate Hamilton because he's forced them to face their biggest fear, defeat. Because he's champion, they just clutch at straws looking for excuses to hate him some more. On the plus side people like me enjoy seeing such muppets getting their comeuppance so I'd just laugh at such people
You'll probably be excluded from this one too. A shame that proper racing seems to be a thing of the past.
A shame that the drivers only get half points. In Bernies method Button would be No1 driver by now and Barrichello would relive his Ferrari nightmare.
Good no points for Ferrari again.
I'm totally with you MattMan2404. It's not so much the decision but the way it's been made and the timing of it in particular. The FIA never cease to amaze on their sheer idiocy. I will not be watching F1, Slade you can still have your race and anyone who can't do without my comments can find me on facebook I'm very easy to find. I will now follow MotoGP where real racing on real circuits takes place. Final thought: Hope Ferrari have a season from hell
F1 has made its bed it would cross the line of a complete farce to now declare the diffusers illegal and strip the teams of their points accrued. A final decision from a true leader should have been made when Mad Max said "they are legal subject to the race stewards approval." But splitting up FOTA was more important than F1. The rest of the teams need to ensure that they have their DDDs ready by China.
It takes a special driver to drive a car like that.
People may expect me to be pleased but I'd prefer to see Trulli demoted to 4th as it seems a more fitting punishment, but I'm not a steward
Don't worry you still have an extra $80 million to spend. I'm sure you could make a decent double decker diffuser with that.
It is unbelievably arrogant of him to say something like this right deranged Ferrari fantasists?
deepwater330 people go overboard on their praise for Lewis because there are so many imbeciles who clutch at straws looking for lame excuses to discredit him ie Glock, Montreal 08, Ron Dennis spoon feeding him, the car flattering the driver, winter testing etc. If people stopped their vile slander of him, they wouldn't have their noses rubbed in when he does something good. This is not an accusation against yourself I'm merely telling it like it is.
read it and weep Ferrari fantasists
This is another reason why people shouldn't take winter testing so seriously. The order of fastest laps is very different to the places where the drivers finish.
A day to forget? Well it's a day to remember for me the last time I laughed this hard the Massa family was celebrating LLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!
You can't appeal a drive through penalty has everyone forgotten Hamilton in Spa (inadmissable.)
I was going to comment but I'd only repeat what Howee said.
ronniepilgrim35 apologies, this comment was more directed at the trumpet blowers who went on and on about Lewis being gifted a championship by Glock and only capable of producing with a top car etc I don't consider you in this category so please disregard my comments. CarlosPoya enjoy the Italian wine made from sour grapes. Slade enjoy your humble pie your comments must make you feel really stupid and you certainly do sound it.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. I love it when both Ferraris fail to get a point. Oh yes that should also shut the Ferrari fantasising lunatics up who think who think Hamilton can't impress in a lousy car better luck next time children.
enjoy pushing it around Sepang Slade 1st and 2nd is more than twice as good as 6th and 7th. RBR will have to redesign their rear suspension to accomodate a double decker diffuser so RedBull may take time to get to their best. Ferrari are already crying to the stewards and the first race hasn't even started yet.
Ah bag boy Slade, I'm so flattered that you rarely post comments without mentioning me. How's your car going I've started the FEA and CFD on mine and it'll be on Youtube by the end of the season. As for the McLaren we'll be sorted once we've put a double decker diffuser on it. On the plus side the limping mules aren't winning either.
The "true gentleman of the sport" has spoken.
Unlucky Bernie and Max
The right decision has been made and the rest of the teams will have similar diffusers very soon. Why so many teams hadn't already copied these is beyond me considering how long ago they were used in testing
saintdean, these are the regulations that are being contested decide for yourself:- 3.10.4 No part of the car between 75mm and 355mm from the car centre line may be more than 350mm behind the rear wheel centre line. 3.10.5 Any parts of the car less than 75mm from the car centre line and more than 500mm behind the rear wheel centre line must be situated between 200mm and 400mm above the reference plane. 3.10.6 No part of the car less than 75mm from the car centre line and more than 350mm behind the rear wheel centre line may be more than 400mm above the reference plane. 3.10.7 No part of the car more than 375mm from the car centre line may be more than 350mm behind the rear wheel centre line. 3.10.8 In side view, the projected area of any bodywork lying between 300mm and 950mm above the reference plane and between the rear wheel centre line and a point 600mm behind it must be greater than 330000mm².
The teams have had plenty of time to copy the double decker diffusers anyway. Mosley has said that they are legal but the stewards can still outlaw them. It seems grossly unfair on the teams with the initiative who have sought clarification a long time ago only to have to start again and forfeit Melbourne. So I'm with the three teams on this as for the FIA god help us.
Astonman429, I think Oscar Wilde might be a bit too far over the heads of some of the 5 year olds who comment on this site.
Yes race I'm sure the sponsors are pleased with winning the world championship you muppet.
Looks like the FIA aren't capable of organising a trip home.
Looks like Ferrari_R_Cheat was right about the ambiguity being an attempt to split up FOTA. Well done Mosley you've brought F1 into disrepute yet again hopefully this will stop you from getting re-elected
Ah deepwater330, in case you haven't noticed the diffusers have been declared legal subject to the stewards' interpretation of them. The flexible floor was quite simply a case of cheating by a team who are and have been proved on many occasions to be above the rules. I would not be surprised if FIA change rules retrospectively they already have done if you remeber Spa. Read this if you don't know what I mean about flexible floors. 3.15 Aerodynamic influence : With the exception of the cover described in Article 6.5.2 (when used in the pit lane) and the ducts described in Article 11.4, any specific part of the car influencing its aerodynamic performance : - Must comply with the rules relating to bodywork. - Must be rigidly secured to the entirely sprung part of the car (rigidly secured means not having any degree of freedom).
Now that will help keep Fernando in the long term
Domenicali complaining after his illegal flexible floor. I have no sympathy.
Hmmm what happened in 04???? Oh yes Ferrari suddenly had an extra $80 million to spend.
Yes graining when he's getting ready to lap them.
Ah graining you're writing people off before the season starts after saying that people who take winter testing seriously must be extremely stupid. Someone should buy you a cone shaped hat with a big letter D on it. Maybe spacedmansplif will buy you one with a big letter R on it instead.
resorting to threats now Bernie, very low act. FISA-FOCA war all over again this time it won't be solved by Bernie becoming the commercial rights holder it will be resolved by him going or the teams breaking away. FOTA are becoming evermore powerful and Bernie's bargaining power will run out in 2012.
We all know that the spin doctor is racing against Kimi for a drive alongside Alonso next year. wraith enjoy following Kimi's progress with ForceIndia next year.
When Ferrari have the stewards on their side, it's hard to see how it can be any easier.
It is unbelievably arrogant of him to say something like this right Ferrari fantasists?
People aren't going to support this idea just because Bernie likes it. If the troll gets his way, then the champion for this year will be the last ever champion of the real F1 quite a nice title to have.
Just say they're legal or they aren't don't leave it to the stewards.
Fully Incompetent Agency (FIA) have no respect for F1 regulations, F1 fans or F1 teams. Please tell me why does F1 need them and how do they earn the licence feesand 31% of f1's revenue. As far as I understand F1 needs the teams and a neutral body to manage its affairs which is lacking at present.
Well done FOTA for showing some guts.
Ah they've finally listened to the fans, well done to everyone who condemned this nonsense, the troll will be mad Ha ha ha ha ha.
deepwater330 look back to Monaco 08 and read the FIA technical regulations 2008 38.5 if you're stupid enough to believe that the rules apply to everyone. Once you add this to the rest of the events of 2008 it becomes blatantly obvious Ferrari are above the rules.
Please Bernie put all your money on Massa. I will then cheer for Raikkonen who will only need to win at Melbourne to be No 1 driver for the season.
I agree Luca but please if you really care ensure that the 2009 season humiliates the muppets in charge. Make every race an Indianapolis 2005 repeat but with 6 less cars.
I would say that saying this is ill-advised, but the FIA are already against him as is the troll so he might as well carry on. No doubt the usual fanboys will criticise him for saying this while praising Schumacher for saying very similar things.
There's only 2 ways F1 can go from here. We whinge but still watch it even without the same satisfaction or we accept that it's finally jumped the shark and desert it until it sorts itself out. Does anyone think any business has the right to dictate to its customers? That's what's going on now.
Anti-McLaren people don't bother making pathetic excuses why these times don't count and previous times showed their real pace etc. Just accept that McLaren were sandbagging and most of you fell for it the truth will be told in Australia.
elvisbeavis I do see the irony and hypocrisy there. Looks like Hamilton will be remebered as the last ever champion of the REAL F1. Future champions will be F1 Lotto champions.
Worst idea in the history of F1, hope this backfires big time.
nerdace, you've got my signature as many time as you want and as many different names as you want. Let us know when it's up and running.
These changes are all ridiculous. I don't mind a budget cap 30 million would be reasonable without the driver's wages but a voluntary one is below the level of idiocy.
People will be expected me to start blowing my trumpet but I can't be bothered.
All F1 fans or ex F1 fans, I am willing to put my hatred of Ferrari aside for the reason there are people who I hate much more. Who's with me on boycotting this OAP circus in favour of other sports like BTCC and MotoGP which are overtaking F1 as being the pinnacle of motorsport. Unless ratings drop dramatically next year this muppet show is here to stay.
Ha ha f1_freak_666 yes I do think you're easy to wind up and thanks for giving me yet more proof enjoy the new look F1 season.
RIP Formula One 1950-2009 Goodbye. Time to concentrate on MotoGP and IROC series
Formula 1 1950-2008 RIP Goodbye F1.
I hate to break it to you Hamilton haters but ForceIndia have been advertising all over India for the past year looking for India's Lewis Hamilton yes that's right long before the ForceIndia/McLaren Mercedes partnership. Better luck next time kids.
You're the only one Bernie, hopefully in 2012 Ferrari will be man enough to tell you where to stick your bribes and FOTA will breakaway from you. I don't see how races with empty stands will help F1. I for one won't even bother switching on the TV for all your Tilke-Dromes a different story for the GPs which deserve their place on the F1 calender.
I agree Bernie the financial situation isn't the biggest problem in F1 YOU ARE. Morality what you mentioned almost happened before but the troll stopped it by bribing Ferrari since Ferrari also run FOTA, it could easily happen again.
That's interesting why doesn't he say "India must have a Massa out there" or "India must have a Raikkonen out there" surely he can't think that Hamilton's a better driver than those 2 right Ferrari fantasists?
graining Bannor's comments were critical of the FIA rather than Ferrari, so you should read comments more carefully before slagging people off. Oh no hang on actually you're right Ferrari and the FIA are the same lot I take it back.
Bernie has 3 years left to make F1 worthwhile by which time the breakaway league will be a serious option. If the teams are stupid enough to sign a new Concorde agreement with Bernie involved, F1's supporters may go elsewhere.
I actually agree with you MrGeeze about the standard of the McLaren in 2008. Too bad the fanboys have been clutching at straws to find reasons to hate Hamilton to notice this. All the more impressive for him to win in a midfield car.
Slade bring it on, I will post the footage of the car and the lap time on youtube under a name that you will recognize, and you can do the same. I will have a similar vehicle to the Formula Student one I designed for my thesis not a shopping trolley with CO2 fire extinguishers. Yes I have Solidworks, Fluent, Gambit, Catia V5 & V6, UGNX5, ProE wildfire 4, Nastran/Patran and Ansys V11 and contacts in Manufacturing. If it's easier you could use Montreal or a US circuit, not an oval one. Whoever has the time that is the smallest percentage over the circuit lap record wins and what do you want to do about rewards for the winner and/or punishment for the loser.
Rules are in red Flavio
Sure tea maker Slade, instead of a fantasy league you could have placed a bid for Honda but Torro Rosso will be sold soon so you won't need a fantasy league. You can prove to everyone that you're the next Gordon Murray and take Torro Rosso to glory. As for myself I prefer hands on challenges. How about we design our own cars, no FIA regulations I'm sure we both have our own CAD, CFD and FEA software as well as contacts so we'll see who has the best car. Maybe we should record ourselves going around the Nordschleife circuit and compare times at Silverstone this year. If you're not up to this I won't shy away from the fantasy option.
Since he's top of the timesheets he has the driver's title in his hands right graining
graining using the logic of people who think McLaren are off the pace, Button will be world champion next year
Seem like this is a bit too far over the heads of some PF1 readers who wear red glasses with a prancing mule on them.
Ah graining I didn't realise how much you missed my comments. Personally, I couldn't care less, McLaren didn't have the best car last year and for the early part BMW were certainly as good and by the end Renault and Torro Rosso were fairly near. If James Allen knows best, it just means, that Lewis will have to work hard and keep improving as a driver. All I want to see next season is good, clean unfabricated racing and Ferrari and Alonso having a frustrating year.
Howee/bazrat, Ferrari fantasists like wraith have had so little to cheer about that top winter testing times feel like championships. Anyone remember Kimi having many fastest laps but still being well below par overall. These times are fastest laps only not averages.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought he was given a CBE not an MBE. Never mind this is sure to get a few Ferrari fantasists crying in their teddies.
graining I'm very surprised to read these comments and I agree with them.
I bet more people are wetting themselves over these times as usual. Having the fastest lap doesn't equal race victories even in the real deal.
Ferrari were supplying two three teams including themselves last year so why bother having idiotic regulations such as these
I have to question how full on the drivers' training has been over the winter when the chances of particularly Barrichello racing have looked increasingly unlikely. A season of testing for next year looks to be the case again.
Am I the only one who thinks the increase in license fee is a case of the FIA making hay while the sun shines the same can be said of Asian Pacific races. I expect an extension of Ferrari's current bribe will be made in a bid to stop the 2012 breakaway league maybe this time Ferrari will rise above selling out F1.
Breakaway league in 2012 you know you want it
Everyone knows this will be Toyota's last year if they don't win a single race so good luck to them.
What a bunch of sore losers we have posting comments, Vettel's won one race Lewis has won one championship end of story
What happened to last years claim that Hamilton couldn't handle a car without traction control. Oh yeah the people with big mouth were left tasting humble pie. Maybe people should stop making unfounded claims
Like most of it apart from the point for fastest pitstop, I also don't see the point in having both Q1 and Q2 one session to determine the top ten would save tyres and money. The rule saying that both specs of dry tyres (assuming dry weather) must be used is unnecessary. I agree with the proposed points system and restrictions on exotic expensive materials.
Debateable Nigel had the best car on the grid and a teammate that wasn't allowed to compete with him and since Prost was taking his sabbatical Balestre didn't have anyone to favour unlike his modern day counterparts, I remember it well though and Nigel had much better drivers to compete with than the ones of today.
I can picture a few Ferrari fantasists wetting themselves over this.
There there F1_FREAK_666 I know losing is hard to take but in a months time the new seaon will be underway and you'll have something else to do other than crying in your teddy all day long. My girlfriend's a psychologist if you need any emotional support.
With the help you had from the stewards last year even with all the luck in the world you won't be good enough this year
Chill out Slade the only reason why I mentioned a supervisor is that you seem to ask a lot of questions. Just like every apprentice I have put up with. How about you explain to me how Ferrari can improve their downforce or mechanical grip this year to help Massa when driving in the rain without sacrificing straight line speed unduly. Graining you are right, I must be extremely dumb seeing as I have 3 degrees and Mensa membership. However you must be even dumber if you haven't figured out that I enjoy mudslinging.
gilgen you are severely deluded, the last lap at Brazil was the only bit of luck Hamilton had all season where as Massa had stewards and Kimi helping him every step of the way
This is very helpful to preparations for the next season
These American drivers are just thinking that it would be good to say that they have done F1 when they retire. Success will take years which I don't see them committing to.
team maker Slade I've already answered this maybe you have a better explanation such as McLaren have given up on 09 and decided to focus on next year instead. i'm sure that you tifosis would love to assume that.
Ah tea maker Slade the very thing McLaren are trying to do is not to show off any of their livery before Melbourne. So various 09 and other spec parts will always be used. The 2010 tyres is just to have early information such as changes in static friction coeffient and life/performance curves and the cars can be designed around these parameters before more restrictions come into force. I'm sure your supervisor can explain this much better than I can seeing as I'm a recent graduate.
F1_FREAK_666 before posting comments like that you should bear in mind that slagging off Ron Dennis doesn't make you a better person, Ferrari a better team or any drivers better than Hamilton.
If that's the case then Rosberg has a lot to prove. He may get the chance to replace Heidfeld maybe.
graining don't you remember saying that anyone who takes these times seriously must be really stupid. I didn't realise you had such a low opinion of yourself
graining that was a rhetorical question, I know exactly why Hamilton is always the one to be condemned, SOUR GRAPES. He's the one who beat Ferrari and the overwhelming majority (not all) of tifosis are such sore losers that they look for excuses to discredit him, ie Montreal 08, getting overtaken by Vettel while nursing his car home, spygate and starting at McLaren rather than a backmarker team. Truth hurts doesn't it.
Hope it goes ahead but complications with customer teams may make this unrealistic.
LOL graining he should also practise entering pits to like in China 07. Speaking of differentiating between red and green what colours are used on Ferrari's traffic light system? also why don't you condemn Rosberg as much as Hamilton for Montreal 08, they both did exactly the same thing.
graining I do agree with you on one count but not the other. I'll believe that Ferrari favoritism is over when decision go against Ferrari in the precise wording of the rules see 38.5 in the technical regulations if you don't know what I'm talking about. http://argent.fia.com/web/fia-public.nsf/475632E46002BEDAC125744F004312F4/$FILE/F1.SPORTING.REGULATIONS.19-05-2008.pdf Ironically this was the key evidence used by Donnelly to claim that the FIA weren't biased.
Maybe Ferrari should be following suit.
yes wraith like kimi did to Hammy last year. Yes he beat Hammy by -23 points probably the only thing you'll have to cheer about.
Nice ultimatum Rosberg but where are you going to go, there aren't many open doors and you may have blown McLaren when you turned them down prior to last season.
Teamaker Slade for once I agree with you, BMW, Redbull, Renault and Toyota will be between Ferrari and McLaren, especially when Ferrari are dancing in the rain with their reduced downforce and crying to the stewards. graining it is rather pathetic to say that Hamilton is rubbish when he started at McLaren who weren't a top team in 06 before he joined and have been at the front ever since he joined. Get over yourself you're as bad as the muppets who said last year that he wouldn't be able to handle a car without traction control.
SirJibby just the first time Martin Whitmarsh was asking the same question a month back.
Street races will still be precessions and KERS will do absolutely nothing to help overtaking. Overtaking moves around corners will be easier but on the straights it will be harder. What do you think tea maker slade.
If he drives like he did last year he won't get revenge and he won't win
People, save the anti-Patrick comments, none of you would turn the opportunity down if you were her.
graining my point is firstly he got 16 points ahead in the first place. Secondly their are many names that have raced for McLaren since 2000, Raikkonen, Alonso, Hakkinen, Montoya, De La Rosa, Coulthard all without winning. Hamilton is his first 2 seasons finished runner up in his first season with a great deal of external issues at the end, and won it in his next season. Lets make no bones about Hamilton choked and his Montreal was amateurish and I won't bother mentioning over cooled fuel either. I can say as many things about Ferrari's drivers too even Schumacher remember Monaco 06.
graining at least Hamilton is a good enough driver to win in a McLaren
Certainly true of Raikkonen
No more blackened faces any monkey chants, F1 doesn't need people like that.
Get in line behind ForceIndia then. Or get an Indian F1 driver.
An offer of help from the troll will always have strings attached. Go Richard Branson.
Wraith he's about as confident as Kimi is bearing in mind Kimi will be racing for ForceIndia next year when Alonso replaces him.
wraith your maths teacher must be as stupid as you are. Your calculations add up to 18. Montreal Hamilton lost as many points but your boyfriend should have started 10 places back for taking out Sutil. In Spa he crashed into a wall because he is in capable of driving once it rains. China Hamilton never even touched him. Team orders and Ferrari making cars with the reliability of a paper aeroplane is their own fault. Better luck next time.
just needs someone decent to drive it then
fastrack 2 reasons ballast and painted surfaces have a lower skin-friction coefficient (have fun looking that up slade.)
wraith your boyfriend finished 23 points behind Hamilton and that doesn't take into account the bribe that Ferrari gets every year and the points given to Ferrari by the stewards. Gee what a humiliation. PS I'm flattered that you think that I'm Nicole Schrezinger.
Massa trying to talk up his medicre achievements yet again.
Brawn and Fry should have had their bid in a long time ago then.
Wow wraith I can't waiting to see Ferrari humiliate themselves and then go crying to Messrs Mosley, Ecclestone and Donnelly.
Pleased to see that so many people are thinking of me. We at McLaren are confident that Ferrari's substandard pit crew will humiliate your team on a consistent basis again this year. Oh yeah did you wonder why Ferrari chose to test somewhere where it rarely rains? I'll tell you why because last year as soon as it rained your drivers went straight into the next wall without any provocation. With the reduced downforce this year, we will be watching ice dancing Ferrari style.
There goes Kimi's motivation for the year then.
Attention Danica Patrick haters, if she is given a go in F1 don't blame her. If it's the wrong decision it's the fault of USF1 nobody else.
Interestingly he doesn't expect wins from Webber, that's encouraging.
This deal won't be complete until next month going by what's happened since Honda's withdrawal. This leaves 4 weeks to source and fit an engine while redesigning the car. Remember ForceIndia were taken over by a billionaire and scored no points the following year so I wouldn't expect miracles. F1_FREAK_666, sometimes it is necessary to be "cruel and vicious" to be a team principal. How many people have been successful in F1 or anywhere else without being ruthless?
Ha Ha wraith nearly half a second quicker than your man.
Since Ferrari get "heritage payments" maybe historic race tracks should get the same
ForceIndia will have some company at the back of the grid and I'm not talking about Ferrari this time.
To all you elvisbeavis knockers out there, maybe you should have scanned his comments for sarcasm first. My guess is the result would be through the roof.
actually raith they will be doing something similar to Toyota and Williams, while Ferrari will use an illegal flexible diffuser like they did in Melbourne 07
Start your own breakaway league in 2012 you already have 2 team to enter it and others may follow.
gilgen I'm sure he will be more committed than Kimi was last year. Rick your memory is worse than your sense of humour.
wraith since Ferrari have developed a reputation for premature celebrations you should celebrate winning in the inaugral unofficial winter testing world championship. This time maybe your team won't be smashing big screen TVs or empty trophy cabinets.
exit strategy here we come. Alonso better hope a Ferrari driver or BMW driver have a season form hell or he'll be vying for a USF1 seat.
Ah Slade well done you've figured me out perfectly. McLaren are using a 2008 wing as an artificial way of producing the realistic rear downforce that would be achieved once the diffuser is redesigned. As tyre wear is also a problem extra rear downforce will accelerate tyre wear as well. To further increase tyre wear the fuel tank will have quite a bit of fuel to add to the weight of the car. Or maybe you think they'll use the 2008 wing and be surprised when they're not allowed to race with it. Since you claim to be an Engineer rewrite your m-files to take into account these considerations maybe you can then work out where each team will finish good luck.
You still have to take responsibility for your actions Max it wasn't the journalists who were disgracing you it was yourself and yourself only.
start blowing your trumpet wraith, Ferrari are a tenth ahead of Toyota
Let's see Raikkonen's intensity in the closing races when he's busy yielding places to Massa
Go on Lewis, wipe the floor with the prancing mules
deepwater330 as you've had enough of my "slagging" I suggest you close this page. Mosley is a typical dictator, he takes credit for the poor saps who work tirelessly to save lives and when the regulations are criticised, he says it's nothing to do with him. If he takes all the credit for how safe the sport is then he takes all the blame for both fatalities in the tragic 1994 Imola (yes there were 2.) Maybe not then, perhaps he should have gone about his work a little differently too late now his reputation is shot and F1's will follow unless he is disposed of ASAP.
Dream on Cyrano, if Ferrari want to earn respect they can hand back their bribes, fire their stewards and win on merit with a car designed with money that they've earnt on a level playing field. Since they aren't capable of doing that I'll enjoy watching them spin when it rains and crash into walls due to unforced errors. If Ferrari didn't have extra unearned money and steward assistance, they would be racing against ForceIndia.
wraith what's going wrong?
This is good news for the Former Honda team the only realistic hope for them to be on the grid
I'm sure she'll attract sponsorship
This should help keep Alonso there next year. Could this year be Renault's last year in F1
I see his point engineers are doing their jobs with a hand tied behind the back due to regulations. The days of inventing new ideas like active suspension et al are long gone. The engines currently use 10 year old technology and KERS may be more trouble than it is worth.
I agree with you THussey but do you think drivers should have to pay for every point scored and the FIA already get 31% of FOM money
Street races result in predominantly lucky victories or precessions
Talk about being 2-faced. Fist comment he made was "Honda are no great loss."
In 2012 things might change because currently the sport is being bled dry by greedy dictators. Mosley is claiming that these costs improve driver safety. I disagree safety is due to the construction of the car, construction of the safety equipment purchased by teams/drivers and the construction of the circuits which are little to do with FIA expenditure. The regulations however do help but when they were criticised for removing innovation from the design of cars, Mosley said he agreed and the regulations were nothing to do with him. I'll give you a quote which typifies the justification of these fees. "It takes 2 people to get this done me to tell you what to do and you to do it." Like I say F1 doesn't need people like this any more.
Pedro you are wrong (about Renault) le cost cutter (Monsieur Ghosn) will take care of them.
looks like Mad Max has his way, a shame the fans can't vote on re-election
Cheer up people in 3 years time the Concorde Agreement expires leaving potential breakaway league a possibility.
Cheer up Jense you may be out of luck in F1 but hey you still have millions to burn at Monte Carlo while you watch your former peers racing around the streets in single file.
yes wraith wow I can't believe it. Someone actually managed to get Kimi out of bed in the morning well done to them.
Hamilton must be using more 2008 spec parts right. Or maybe he's a good driver with a quick car but that's too much for some Ferrari fantasists to take.
If Fernando doesn't finish higher than either Ferrari driver next season he can forget about a seat behind a prancing pony.
Ah wraith what were you saying about how fast the Maranello Muppets were compared to McLaren?
wraith where are all your reliable designs and your design FMEA credentials then? Ooh and your championship winning cars?
Massa isn't the only driver with that problem, possible repeat of Melbourne last year on the cards.
good to see him back
Sorry I've already bet against Donington being ready in time. I am also pretty confident that my money is safe.
Yes graining it's a set of times.
Bravo rochester I haven't attended any of those events, I've seen some NASCAR and IRL but fell asleep fairly quickly. I only said that the Germans had done more than the Americans in terms of F1 technology. I never said anything about the Brits not contributing anything to developing US cars.
Yes graining maybe STR will win the 2009 championship in their 2008 car. In case you haven't worked this out yet comments appear under my name not above it.
Don't push the car too hard Nelson. If you embarass your team mate you may not get a drive next year.
ANDYGT in the constructor's title I would agree with you especially if there are only 9 teams.
point taken graining but I think you're confusing my comments with wraith's because I have not said ANYTHING about the relevance of these times. For the record they are irrelevant because half the teams may be sandbagging.
Afraid I disagree, with the engine freeze, there should not be so much money spent on R&D in that department anyway. What money is saved will be spent elsewhere anyway.
Dream on Anderson your indycar might be fast along the straights but F1 tracks also have corners. The Germans have contributed a lot more than the Americans have in terms of F1 technology anyway research the history of the internal combustion engine if you don't believe me. As for design gurus, who's America's Ross Brawn, Colin Chapman, Adrian Newey, Gordon Murray etc.
Blah blah blah... wraith, I couldn't care less where McLaren are as long as the cheats with prancing mules on their nosecones finish where they deserve, I will be very happy. As happy as I was when I watched the Massa family celebrating.
Russian Street race here we come.
graining I hope you're smarter than you seem. I was merely saving the more bitter Ferrari fans the trouble of posting slanderous accusations against Herr Glock.
Yes Ferrari fans we know, it wasn't raining and he didn't have to get out of the way and let Hamilton past.
Oh dear Ferrari fans will hate this.
F1_FREAK_666 it is proof, look at the clips and the regulations all the evidence is based on events last season and if you take your Ferrari tinted glasses of you will realise that you have no case to answer and there don't appear to be 50 million people commenting against the evidence shown just 1 imbecile (yourself.) Don't be a lawyer when you eventually grow up.
Don't worry Ferrari, if it isn't right you can always count on uncle Bernie and the FIA for all the assisstance you need
Maybe Mosley should buy Honda and have a team FIA. Oh sorry I forgot, there already is one maybe a B team perhaps.
gilgen here¿s your proof. If you cut chicanes you get 25 seconds added to your time: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=xbtF4QSqyo0 . Not if you drive for Ferrari though: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=i5_oENqnPwQ http://uk.youtube.com/results?search_query=massa+canada+2008&search_type=&aq=3&oq=massa+ca . Unsafe pitstops result in penalties in Valencia, Bruno Senna was given a drive through penalty for being released into the path of another driver. Later that day in the F1 race Massa in 1st place at the time was involved in an identical incident: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=16KxVDmOqGo , he was not given anything other than a cheap fine. In Singapore when his race was already compromised http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=QhcoeKksjrY , he was given a drive through penalty. The Japanese GP alone has all the evidence that is needed to prove Ferrari favouritism: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=lMILI4uETVQ , if the other two penalties are dubious the Bourdais one is both inexplicable and 100% unjustified. In defence of Ferrari (presented by FIA and Ferrari employee Alan Donelley) they got given a drive through penalty in Monaco for not having the car ready in time for the race. In the sporting regulations: http://argent.fia.com/web/fia-public.nsf/475632E46002BEDAC125744F004312F4/$FILE/F1.SPORTING.REGULATIONS.19-05-2008.pdf (see 38.5) it says that in this event the driver then has to start from the back of the grid or pitlane like Kovalainen did in the same race. Also in Monaco Raikkonen got away with no penalty for driving into the back of Adrian Sutil who was in 4th place. Next race Hamilton drove into the back of Raikkonen and was given a 10 place grid penalty.
Maybe F1 should be renamed A2GP if teams are being named after countres
Not one of my favorite track but it will probably be replaced with a race around some one-way streets in Moscow with no room for fans(not that any would turn up.)
Less talk Fernando just show us what oyu're made of but don't step in it.
F1_FREAK_666 you're as predictable as gravity. If the shoe was on the other foot, McLaren would have been told that it's their fault for giving away intellectual property in the first place. As for the FIA/Ferrari conspiracy, I can prove it any time you want.
Go start a breakaway league then. I'll follow its progress
I think the careers of both men in motorsport are finished so who cares.
Couldn't agree with you more Morality, I can see McLaren and Ferrari adopting similar designs, so that the stewards can approve one but not the other.
He could join USF1 next year assuming they don't sign the Toyota drivers should they withdraw
Torro Rosso have made the right decision but should have made it last year.
It's also nothing compared to the 31% of F1 revenue the FIA get.
It would be nice this time if fans and teams(inside and outside of F1) rather than the Antartic body of motorsport could vote as per vote of confidence.
You Go Alonso, show us what you're made of but don't step in it.
The writing may be on the wall and this will be Toyota's last season.
I'm sure winning at Silverstone for McLaren and also at Monaco will more than make up for not winning for a team of cheats. I include Max in the team of cheats
Very enlightening, I wonder what the rest of the teams are focusing on.
Certainly limiting the amount of fuel allowed for each race would be a good idea, certainly more environmentally friendly than KERS.
A necessary measure. Hopefully Ferrari's budget won't be ¿100 due to their so called heritage payment.
With the amount of stories like this, there won't be many surprises, half the teams on the grid have predicted championship success.
I don't believe it, why not compete in NACAR or IRL, they're more lucrative and aren't being ruined by greedy/biased troll's and dictators. They also don't have fixed championships unlike F1.
The troll will think that this justifies moving GPs out of Europe.
A lot of hard work to stay in the F1 midifield. Hope it goes well.
Why not wholesale changes, get rid of it
Half of F1 fans probably hope it ISN'T ready.
McLaren-Cosworth won't be necessary then.
Forget this race bring back US and/or Canadian GP instead
Going by last year's performance compared to Kubica, dream on.
The Ferrari fans must be pleased, their dream of being the only team left is looking closer maybe they can celebrate with the troll.
Howee, Challenge360 has probably only watched one F1 race and it wasn't Monaco 08. Just to remind Alonso fantasists, he could easily be a 4 time champion if he hadn't been so pathetic in Hungary 07 and lost 5 places and would still have a McLaren contract in 08 and 09. If he drove a McLaren in 08 as well as he drove a Renault (if you believe the hype) he would have won last year too. So because he is such a spoilt brat, he has blown 2 titles which will probably be 4 by the time there's a prancing mule on his nosecone.
Since people are so quick to go on and on about Hamilton going into the back of Raikkonen lets see the "best driver of 2008" in action. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=JT_ul67ecpg
I certainly will be going nowhere near the place, nor will I contribute anything to the troll's pockets.
Not what the statistics says.
Alonso did produce the best overtaking move of 2008 to give him some credit. Remember the one along the Curva Loews hairpin in Monaco on Heidfeld.
A shame there is no trophy for the DC best driver of the year award.
Congratulations F1_FREAK_666, I hereby crown you the Sorest loser on PF1 and the biggest bait-taker on PF1. Once again GET OVER YOURSELF.
If the cheating stewards weren't insanely biased towards Ferrari this idea may not have been so serverely condemned.
Please before people go on about how Lewis was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, was gifted everything by Ron Dennis etc, consider this. A man can only use the tools he is given. He has produced the best performance for anyone in their rookie year and followed it up by winning the title, he has won in junior leagues consistently and outdriven every teammate he has had. He has won 1 title, 1 more than any of you Lewis haters every will. At the age of 24, he may win many more. There is no reason why top teams shouldn't find their own young talent rather than pinching it off low level teams. Anyone who still has an irrational hatred of him GET OVER YOURSELVES he is a world champion and there is nothing you can do about it.
idiotic idea, good to see it get treated with the contempt it deserved. It only came about because of TV kicking Luca flexing his muscles after losing the driver's title.
People may be right that KERS is a bad idea, but it's quite simple. If you don't like it, don't use it.
Sandbagging?
Hope this doesn't happen it is not the taypayers responsibility to bail Honda out and pay Button's extortionate wages.
I feel sorry for him, he may lose out at the last minute when he could have started looking elsewhere in november.
The Technical Regulations say that All measurements are normal to the reference plane (the surface that the plank sits on) so different angles are no excuse and all aerodynamic aids have to be RIGIDLY secured to the entirely sprung part of the car.
Schlick you're obviously an extremely dumb person, I was trying to give people an insight into how varied salaries and success levels could be for an F1 engineer, since Honda has recently collapsed, there a lot of spare F1 engineers so opportunities are limited. Engineers are not the children's heroes, drivers are. As for questioning my engineering ability, non swimmers like yourself should stay out of the deep end!
Bazrat it is pointless if the rules exclude a particular team and until the season starts, what people do to their cars is meaningless, it's just mind games that's all.
Hopefully Kubica will finished ahead of the cheating Maranello Muppets.
Please no more tilke-dromes, design a circuit where overtaking is possible.
He needs a better car to show what he's really made of.
This is all pointless until the season starts.
That will happen when Vettel gets a championship winning car, but it might be after the troll's lifetime.
Peopl say better late than never, but with some of these circuits I disagree
amoore how about giving Raikkonen the proper penalty of starting from the back of the grid applicable to drivers who's cars aren't ready by the cut off time before the start of the race ie Monaco. Not a drive through penalty which was later used as lame evidence to deny Ferrari bias
I bet all drivers will have lighting quick reactions when it comes to activating the limiter for a safety car period.
Even less testing time than the other manufacturers, hope it doesn't hamper them too much.
KubicaFTW, as a current engineer, I can tell you that F1 engineers wages are certainly not improving at present. Other engineering jobs outside F1 are becoming more attractive not just due to wages but F1 Engineers are expected to work long/antisocial hours and travel with teams often. To give you a fairly general example, a recently qualified engineer who works on optimising the front wing on a ForceIndia would probably get paid around £25,000 a year. People like Ross Brawn would obviously earn considerably more.
Rome obviously have deep pockets, seems like races will soon be decided during qualifying and the art of overtaking will be forgotten.
BMW appear to be thw wisest team regarding medals, maybe the stewards will punish them next year on the troll's behalf.
This should help Renault who are a budget sensitive team who's parent company are struggling to sell cars.
I agree, Having a commercial rights holder who repeatedly kisses the prancing ass of Ferrari is wrong. The same goes with an FIA president who spanks it.
Since these comments are all about 2007, I suggest a few people look back at the incidents which caused the break up in relations between Alonso/Hamilton/Dennis. Start with the Monaco GP where Lewis was ordered to settle for 2nd place in Monaco behind Alonso to save engine wear on both cars. Move on to Hamilton's first victory and Alonso whinging about Hamilton getting preferential treatment. At Hungary where things fell apart, Hamilton disobeyed team orders to let Alonso past, Alonso responded by disgracing himself in front of the whole world by blocking Hamilton from using running the fuel burn lap. At that point Alonso cost himself the title and possibly the opportunity of a drive at Ferrari. Nobody is completely innocent in this and placing all the blame on a rookie for this is very lame and rumours about Hamilton being a No 1 driver at McLaren are entirely unfounded.
dlroberts, firstly you can get right off your high horse about team orders when Schumacher had no1 treatment for years, secondly Heikki has been given a good enough car to win races, and his pitstops were always within 1 lap of Hamilton's and he could easily burn off fuel in the outlap.
fastrack how about just watching F1 on Youtube if you want to see ratings fall.
wraith how about Singapore and Valencia for truly lousy circuits.
Yes Flav we all know you love Alonso.
Talk about waiting for the opportune moment. Maybe he should have said this years ago
Excuse me for not getting too excited
It shows that Williams are barely hanging on, a shame considering what the team has done in the fairly recent past. Bernie wouldn't miss them though.
It would work much better if the other series was during the winter, F1 would take priority and burnout could be an issue otherwise. Much better idea than the rubbish that Bernie comes up with.
I'm actually a bit torn with this article, FOM paying the teams, who pay the drivers, who pay the FIA is a stupid way to go about things especially considering the FIA gets 30% of the F1 revenue. Drivers paying for every point scored is ridiculous. The FIA's percentage of income should be enough to pay for their activities to justify their presence. The cost for each driver's entry should be the same as any other driver. As for Mosley demanding to see wage details, maybe he should show FIA income and expenditure. If driver's income is getting out of hand, maybe a salary cap should be in place.
Who'll be the first Ferrari fan going to say if Glock drives like he did in Brazil, there will be more overtaking
All messy politics with people who are filthy rich, like taking a bucket of water out of the Atlantic Ocean and putting it in the Pacific Ocean, how about giving the money to someone who needs it.
Next the Ferrari fantasists will be saying McLaren changed the weather in Brazil to slow Glock down
spikeymikey it's the reduction in downforce compared to last year that is causing the problem,
If its during any game of cricket, then no stands will be needed for the grand prix.
These are the kind of people who run F1! It is becoming a joke.
Johnnyrod927, if Toyota require a total muppet to drive the car, then you sound like the perfect candidate.
Sour grapes again F1_FREAK_666, maybe you should try driving an F1 with dry tyres on a damp track, but on the other hand F1 may have changed by the time you leave school.
No team should ever be bigger than the sport. This statement all but confirms that Ferrari are bigger than the sport and for that reason the credibility of F1 is falling.
It may even be the same for many more teams, the manufacturers are in it for marketing and if sponsors lose interest as shown by Credit Suisse for BMW, then the troll will end up bleeding the sport dry. If standard engines and medal etc force their way in, spectators will turn their back and F1 will be over.
Keep this fire burning, I hope these 2 gits become their own undoing. Further evidence that the he doesn't care about the fans. Looks like less income from GP2, 2012 breakaway series here we go.
Going by the Concorde agreement nothing can be changed in the sport until 2012 unless all the teams, FIA and troll agree.
The BMW drivers are very sensible people why disgrace the Olympics and why ruin F1 further. Where are the results for the survey then?
Will there be yet another story about him going to Ferrari tomorrow?
Why on earth does this greedy troll think thst 22% of F1's income isn't enough for him. His contribution to it is and always has been negative. People seem to mistakenly think that anyone who has been around in F1 for a long time has done a lot for it. I still haven't read a comment that is complimentry to the troll
Sounds like a Ferrari Strictly Come Dancing routine with Massa's wet weather driving.
Firstly I agree that drivers' salaries are a long way beyond what they deserve, people really should look at why they get so much. Anyone who pays over the top prices for merchandise, GP tickets, membership of a team fan club etc, is contributing to their teams' budgets. If anyone doesn't like what's going on, they should think about how much money they spend in the mentioned categories. Secondly the concept of greed, If someone buys goods for a 1$ and sells them for 1$ 50 they can make enough money to survive. If people would pay 100$ for these goods they won't be sold at 1$ 50 and the person will earn more money than they will need in their lifetime.
He has plenty to prove when it comes to driving in a straight line.
I understand what you are saying Bannor, but your scenario depends on everyone using a ninth engine at the same time since there are 17 races in 2009, everyone can use each engine for 2 races and either take a penalty or use the eighth engine for the third race. Like you say if everyone uses a ninth engine for the last race, there is no penalty. The rules may change again though now that Bernie and the Maranello Muppets are hand in hand once more
It won't be a problem to a team that is subsidised by F1 management. If this carries on I hope people feel the pinch and greed destroys these people.
Unfortunately this lovers' tiff didn't last long enough. Maybe the Maranello Muppets will get KERS banned also.
F1_FREAK_666 keep your bigoted thoughts to yourself. Congratulations on a job well done RD good luck to Martin Whitmarsh.
He will be motivated until the going gets tough.
This now seems to be a daily story.
Obiswift I must say it is very refreshing to see comments from somebody with a decent (if not better than decent) IQ. I'm amazed that the conspiracy theories haven't already flooded this page. If anyone still isn't convinced then why didn't Glock pit for wet tyres if he wanted to let Hamilton past?
Spode just to correct you on a few things. Firstly I am not a McLaren fan, I am a Ferrari hater. Secondly I am not a bad winner, I may be bad but I'm not a winner. Thirdly if you read the filth that the Maranello Muppet fans post about Spygate a year and a half later and Glock bribes etc, I think they deserve to have their noses rubbed in it.
The expression "fail to plan, plan to fail comes to mind" There must some people with an IQ level similar to robson's working in Maranello. Massa still hasn't learnt how to drive in a straight line. Nothing changes.
THussey, you'll probably find that robson isn't even Austrailian, he insults Britain with his very cheap comments and insults Australia by claiming to be Australian.
zmahecic the Maranello Muppets are bigger than the sport the rules only cover the existing teams not the FIAs own team. Mugello will be available 24/7 if requested.
Absolutely right Bazrat, this shows that supporters of the Maranello Muppets are both hypocrites and extremely sore losers, I'll enjoy rubbing their noses in it again next year.
ronniepilgrim35, I heard the asking price was one pound. I would go halves with you but the debts and Button's outstanding wages are putting me off a bit.
Gian in case you haven't figured this out for yourself, the regulations make all the cars look virtually identical. Save your excuses for losing out in 09 for th end of the season not pre-season. There are other sites if your interested in cricket this is an F1 site.
Maybe the most predictable story yet. Good luck sorting out the KERS Massa will certainly need it.
Money talks even to people with more many than they will ever need. STR will not match the pay deal that Button has at Honda so Button will stay there even for the sake of compensation if Honda aren't on the grid in Melbourne. He knows his championship hopes are over.
They only changed the name to hide of the embarrasment of not winning both titles despite the pre-season bribes and the race fixing during the season.
A driver who can't be bothered to race for titles and a team that can't be bothered to fight on a level playing field. I agree this is a match made in heaven
I predict plenty more controversy and race fixing attempts.
It may be too late for Luca to get KERS banned, the Maranello Muppets might need to find new methods to stay ahead of the competition.
It will look much better when it crashes into a wall as soon as it rains.
A little premature Murray, Kubica won one race last year after the regular winners had retired. If this medal BS goes ahead, then BMW have a lot of work to do to give Kubica a good enough chance.
Since cost cutting is high on the agenda, how about losing Singapore and the expensive lighting system and replacing it with a proper circuit like Montreal where there will be at least some spectators.
There are still 29 buyers remaining right? Unless the team will be called Brawn GP uncertainty will probably continue
turcon2, I can't give you a good reason but I can tell you how it is. F1 is run by a dictator who couldn't care less what anyone other than himself would like. The reason why medals are so popular is because the troll had the idea himself.
If Schumacher buys the team, the FIA may have divided loyalties.
If the first Donnington race is a failure, then it will be replaced with another tilke-drome with a track barely wide enough to have 2 cars side by side.
F1_FREAK_333 (using your boyfriend's sense of humour) Get a life is rich from someone who still goes on and on about the spygate scandal which was proven in a kangaroo ma-FIA court in a hearing headed by a troll and a kerb crawler. You also seem to have difficulty in letting go of the last lap of Interlagos when the cheating Maranello Muppets got their comeuppance which was very amusing even more so with your flawed conspiracy theories about Glock. The bribe that FIArrari took it plain and simple cheating and the money is used to develop the cars and pay wages for the stewards etc. Keep throwing stones from your glass house I enjoy throwing them back at you.
Sir Jibby I'm sure next year with the so-called stewarding changes incidents like this will be properly explained. Oh yes there were explained this year by the troll.
It still doesn't mean that there is an imminent buyer ready to step in.
spacemanspliff - yeah it was nearly as funny when the Massa family was celebrating when Massa became world champion, only to find out that justice was done and the FIArrari cheating attempts amounted to nothing. The Hamilton incident in Canada was identical to Raikkonen going into the back of Sutil and Rosberg going into the back of Hamilton in the same pitlane. So I suggest FIArrari supporters stop throwing stones from their glass houses.
What will happen in a budget cap about the extra 80 million US$ that the cheating Maranello Muppets get and their general help? Will the stewarding change at all to allow all cars the right to overtake or just the red ones? Apart from this the letter looks like a small step in the right direction
Oversteer is likely to be a big problem this year with rearward biased weight distribution due to KERS and forward biased centre of pressure due to lower/wider front wing and smaller rear wing and restrictions on diffuser design. With the ban on tyre warmers, there may be a few accidents after pitstops too.
The Cossie engine was part of a Mosley intervention to ensure that there was an affordable option for smaller independent teams. The manufacturers were given the option of making an identical engine to the Cossie one or their own one subject to the so called engine freeze (so the performance doesn't exceed the Cossie benchmark.) The cost cutting measures will be totally pointless if other engines cost less than the Cossie one. Bannor it does seem strange that Ferrari engines struggled to last for a whole race at the start of the season but were good enough for Torro Rosso to fight for victories at the end ofthe season all while the engine freeze was on. As for the smell Sir Jibby's comments will probably answer that for you.
This team is now about to spend its third year in a row "in transition." Why a Ferrari engine when the Cosworth one is likely to be cheaper and with equal performance? I guess Ross knows something we don't or could a Ferrari junior team be a possibility?
How stupid will this idea seem when drivers are released with fuel hoses attached and injure pit crews. OH I forgot, it has already happened twice last year along with their cars being released right in front of another car who they even tried to blame for the incident. Hope it costs them the championship again LOL.
sss2515, if you believe what wikipedia says, the teams get 47% of the F1 revenue, the FIA get 30% and the troll gets 23%.
Afraid I disagree with you Mika, The chances of a silver medal becoming worth anything other than its monetary value are very low and even more so for the bronze medal. Teams may sacrifice engines and races to gain an advantage in the next race.
Very wise words Jackie. These two people are also reponsible for some of the most farcicle incidents in recent times as well as bankrupting teams, racing circuits and the rest.
Well said daveyboy33i, it seems that robson's fellow countryman don't want to be associated with such a cretin (quite right too.) Schumacher's achievements rightfully or not will be tainted with underhand tactics and corruption within the F1 management.
Maybe he could replace Kovalainen next year if he can impress when testing a McLaren
How about you take your own advice robson. I love it when you post comments like this, I know I've got to you when you call me SUMMERARSE. You're not one for originality are you.
robson, your parents obviously wouldn't let you speak to anyone when they took you to Disneyland and left you in the ball park (I don't blame them.) The Pussycat Dolls are well known as is Snoop Dogg and Diddy and Hamilton (except in countries where soap stars and second rate celebrities are all they have.) When you're old enough to travel without holding hands with your parents you might get to talk to some grown-ups who will have heard of Hamilton and the rest of the celebrities mentioned. In the meantime stick to playing scalextric against you're friends who come round to play(if you have any.)
The stewards tried their best Schumi.
To any imbecileswho think Hamilton is unknown in the US, you obviously haven't been there in the last 2 years. Snoop Dogg wanted Hamilton to drive a Limo on 1 of his videos. Diddy was in the paddock with the McLaren team in Monaco 2008. Hamilton also won the US grand prix in 2007. His Girlfriend Nicole Schrezinger is the lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls. These people are hardly nobodys now are they? Also in India, Force India post adverts looking for India's LEWIS HAMILTON. not Schumacher, not Alonso, not Massa, not Raikkonen. Australia's F1 glory time in F1 (if you could even call it that) had finished by the 80s. Anywhere where there are F1 fans Hamilton is very well known.
He isn't saying this because it would have given him the title is he? Medals will create tactics where teams will sacrifice some races to get advantages in others. It is also more likely that people will crash into rivals who are likely to get a gold medal when their own chances of winning the race are gone. More Senna/Prost incidents very likely if this idea gets approved.
Keep dreaming F1_FREAK_666 Hamilton only cares about 1 team, Alonso only cares about 1 person and no teams. I DO think Alonso will end up at Ferrari but I'm not bothered, who wouldn't want the number opposite the lead weight on the dice.
Hakkinen is probably right but I'm wondering when and who with. If Ferrari have Alonso as third in the queue, then Vettel's chances to win as many as he should will be limited.
biso9700 I think you're making the mistake of cycling through which of the troll's faces says what. If you go through all of them you'll be there for a while.
I stand corrected when I said that this story repeats istelf every month. It is now twice in one week. Personally, I think Vettel would be as good a driver and much less trouble than eyebrow man.
TGovender you bring new meaning to the term "as thick as 2 short planks." Hamilton didn't win by default he won by scoring more points than every other driver. If you remove the pathetic attempts at sabotage by the stewards, he won by considerably more points and won 3 more races than anyone else. The likes of Prost, Senna and Schumacher didn't prove they were good enough by being mobile chicanes in underperforming cars, they proved they were good enough by winning consistently with what they had just like Hamilton is doing presently. You're parents obviously didn't buy you enough sweeties for christmas, you still have a sour taste in your mouth.
Just when Ferrari fans were getting sick of Hamilton silverware more comes along.
handbagging sounds a bit more likely robson, I'm sure you'd know a lot about that.
I'm sure that Jenson really needs some advice from the troll.
CanadianFan: What do you reckon to a race down some one-way streets in Moscow or Mumbai then?
This is the same news story repeated at monthly intervals, we all know Alonso wants to join. He is not the only, one Vettel is younger and of a similar talent. Who wouldn't want to join a team that is subsidised by the F1 management both financially and with the regulations.
Looks like more hot air then. I can't say that I blame investors considering the way F1 is at the moment. Maybe its time to go back to the drawing board for cost cutting.
There are many drivers who want to be in F1, they all have to get in line and spend a lot of money to compete in lower level competitions. If teams decline like Honda has, their opportunities will come very limited
Ferrari probably aren't the only team who are behind (yes behind robson) with KERS. I would say that the rules can't be changed to suit Ferrari, but that appears to be very possible and not for the first time or the last.
Is the new team going to be called Force Mexico then? Good for the rest of the team though, I can't see them being anything more than back markers next year after all this uncertainty though.
If Algarve can provide a thick lining for Ecclestone's pockets, they could have a grand prix
I agree with Luca but I'd rather he said things more proactively than reactively. He only started complaining about Singapore after he Massa pitstop
Everybody enjoy your turkey tomorrow or vegetarian equivalent and thing about the year of F1 reflecting on a few triumphs.
PlanetF1 readers please stop giving robson reasons to feel like a celebrity on this site. We all know he's a moron (including himself.) Although I'll admit it saya a lot about the kind of people who support the Maranello Muppets doesn't it.
Spode he wants to get rid of them so he take take their position and ensure Ferrari favoritism for many years to come. Only kidding it is his job to speak for FOTA being the president and the overwhelming majority of stakeholders for F1 are sick of them ruining the sport.
I'd like to see what happens when everyones budget is limited to 100m US$ as planned. Oh sorry I forgot FIArrari will get 200m US$ so they can afford to distribute more money.
Who on earth would want to be Raikkonen's race engineer. Looks like the Australian that did it last year had as much trouble getting Kimi out of bed than he did setting up the car, new chassis and all
So why doesn't Silverstone get these "heritage payments" then?
What a surprise, he's promised his resignation twice now and looks like rescinding it for a second time.
I admire the commitment, but I don't understand the motivation from a team that is probably years of development behind the top teams when profitability is virtually non existent. (unless you're subsidised like in FIArrari's case)
energyman Massa didn't deserve the title this year because he was spoon fed and even handed victories by the stewards. He doesn't deserve compensation points either for his team's incompetence in Singapore etc. Maybe Hamilton should have been given extra points because his team struggled to get his wheel off in Malaysia. I think not
Maybe Ferrari should share all the technology that they have developed over the years with the money from all their bribes too. The FIA could then fine all the teams 100m$US so they can afford to bribe Ferrari some more.
I agree energyman, Ferrari and Massa probably will win both titles next year after all they have a much bigger budget than all the other teams and they are subsidised by Ecclestone and the FIA. I would be seriously embarrassed if I couldn't win with all the help Ferrari have been given in the last 5 years (provided there are no more skeletons in that closet.)
A shame that the Grand Prix World Championship didn't materialise, the corruption involved in F1 is now being revealed at a time when costs alone are already threatening the sport's future. This unfair advantage FIArrari have received in recent years has allowed them much more development on their cars than the other teams and it may be years before F1 becomes a fair contest again.
If he's got nothing to say, then it is obviously true that FIArrari having been cheating for the past 5 years
Velocity boy you complete imbecile. If giving a team preferential treatment in supposed equal contest and/or taking bribes isn't cheating then what is?
OK the time has come, someone asked for hard proof that the FIA favoured Ferrari: lets see what the deal has done for Ferrari in 2008 alone. In defence of Ferrari (presented by FIA and Ferrari employee Alan Donelly) they got given a drive through penalty in Monaco for not having the car ready in time for the race. In the sporting regulations: http://argent.fia.com/web/fia-public.nsf/475632E46002BEDAC125744F004312F4/$FILE/F1.SPORTING.REGULATIONS.19-05-2008.pdf it says that in this event the driver then has to start from the back of the grid or pitlane like Kovalainen did in the same race. Also in Monaco Raikkonen got away with no penalty for driving into the back of Adrian Sutil who was in 4th place. Next race Hamilton drove into the back of Raikkonen and was given a 10 place grid penalty. If this article isn¿t proof enough these links will be. Robson et al, I¿d love to see you justify this.
Here we go yet more comprehensive proof that the FIA are biased. As far as I'm concerned this is a severe stain on anything Ferrari has won in recent times. It certainly makes Renault and McLaren's achievements look collosal. How can anyone brand McLaren "cheats" when this has been going on.
TGovender you total imbecile, how can you forget that Massa blowing his engine up is his and his team's own fault for the design and care of it. If Ferrari fail to finish races it doesn't mean that they deserve extra compensation points for their incompetence. You can certainly get off your high horse about team orders when Ferrari didn't allow anyone else to compete with Schumacher. For the last half of the season, Raikkonen was helping Massa not "competing with him." As for McLaren Kovalainen was only helping Hamilton at the very end and fought for position with Lewis many times. The fact that Hamilton comprehensively upstaged Kovalainen only means Hamilton is a better driver.
If Luca wants people who don't cheat, he should fire the stewards and resign himself.
robson, "the best pair of drivers in F1" lol! didn't do very well with "the best team in the world" did they? What going wrong for the Maranello Muppets? Maybe they need Alonso, Vettel and the stewards to help them win next year good luck getting Kimi motivated for another year of F1.
Sour grapes again F1_FREAK_666 you are almost as bad as robson for being a sore loser. Maybe you'll get an autographed copy of this "magazine" oh sorry I forgot this survey was carried out on line so anyone from any country could have voted. ING are also Renault's sponsors and are anti-McLaren/Hamilton with Alonso as fuel to the fire. I'm sure your parents will buy you a lolly to get rid of this sour taste in your mouth.
Maybe he will take up rally driving half way through next season. I don't see any more motivation after he get the promised 25% pay cut.
I bet Ferrari and robson will love this.
Hamilton wouldn't sign for Ferrari either, even with the possibility of assistance fom the stewards to win more titles.
Robson - One team left in Formula One that also runs the sport
Congratulations Luca, this is the most intelligent thing I have hear you say EVER. What does Ecclestone do with the 500 million plus he recieves each year from ripping off GP venues then?
Ferrari must feel short changed after spending 20 million on Raikkonen for 2008.
If anyone wants to vote on the official f1 sit more than once, you only have to remove cookies from your computer each time.
Slavica, I believe you own half of the F1 commercial rights. Please stop your ex-husband from ruining the sport.
You must be joking Bernie will just move the grand prix to Russia or South Africa.
daveyboy33i you could not do a better job is summing up both robson and the future of F1, if it continues with medals and standard engines we may see whole seasons of races like the American GP you refer to.
F1_FREAK_666 sour grapes again. What a shame that the driver's title isn't decided by what morons like yourself think about the drivers. Hoy winning just proved how highly the British public rate his achievements and the same to a slightly lesser extent can be said about Lewis. Since you are such a brilliant judge of character, you probably think Raikkonnen has the right kind of personality.
robson if Glock wanted to gift Hamilton the place, why didn't he just pit for intermediates like everyone else did. No imbeciles such as yourself would have made him a scapegoat then. Secondly it is very two faced of Ferrari fans when Alonso pledged to help Massa in the same way you claim Glock did for Hamilton. Since you are apparently a Formula One driver (whatever) why don't you try driving in wet conditions with dry tyres.
There is a loophole that medals will open up. Since engines now have to last four races, teams could use the tactic of running a new engine one race and destroying it during qualifying before the next race, taking the penalty and retiring from the next race early on. For the third race the team will have a nearly new engine while the rest of the field have 2 race old engines. This would give the team a much better chance of getting a gold medal for the next 2 races and if points were involved thy would still be at a loss from forfeiting a race. What you going to do about this Bernie
The pinnacle of world motorsport is unlikely to be Formula One for much longer. Nascar, IRL and A1GP will be as popular if 2009 becomes an extrapolation of the last month. Moto GP is already more entertaining to watch and is not run by a bunch of greedy imbeciles and the stewards aren't employed by any particular team. If medals get approved then there is little point in having any teams other than Ferrari and McLaren (based on 2008 performances.)
I pose you the same question robson
haroccena wake up. Robson is as British as a didgeridoo. You also stand more chance of training a monkey to fly than you do about teaching robson the concept of justice.
Since you bring up engine freeze concessions. It was very noticeable how Ferrari went from having an engine that was barely capable of lasting for 2 races to having one that was good enough for Torro Rosso to win races.
amen to that robson
I hope they don't complain about the number of white drivers like they do in the rest of their sports.
Sour grapes robson and stream. Massa is about as deserving of the 2008 WDC as Ecclestone is over the F1 commercial rights and Mosley is of the FIA presidency. Ferrari are the ones who cheated this year by using assisstance from the governing body and the medals are a result of Ferrari whinging about losing the WDC. You two should learn from Massa about how to move on and ow to be gracious in defeat. Lewis Hamilton is the most deserving WDC in F1 history because no-one else has triumphed over a governing body. Since you hate hearing about Hamilton getting more silverware, the British sports personality of the year is on tomorrow, I wonder who will win it. Stick to playing baseketball it is the only thing you stand a chance of winning.
You only have to read one forum to know that medals are a ridiculous idea. We know Bernie doesn't care if there is one team remaining in F1.
I do actually like most of these changes. Howvever the wind tunnel restriction of model scale and wind speed is a little bit stupid. The model scale and maximum wind speed is the equivalent of testing a full size model at 100 km/hour and an F1 car rarely goes as slow as this. The ban of tyre warmers does little for costs and may make pitstops more dangerous. I also don't see why they need to wait until 2013 to decide on a more efficient engine if they are standardising it now.
I'm glad to see that there are some people in Ferrari who are gracious in defeat.
You won't be missed either Bernie. Honda making room for someone else is a good thing is it? Not when there were two teams missing already on the grid. Bernie's senile comments are getting boring.
F1 is about challenges. I wouldn't be surprised if KERS is delayed for another year. It seems that this one of not very many open areas for engineers. If this happens much of the budgets will be spent on less innovative ideas like the ones Mosley condemns.
This article seems to be a long statement which tells us nothing. What exactly has changed other than standard engine designs.
Good to see some stupid ideas getting vetoed.
timem1 if you want proof then look at the Bourdais penalty in Fuji, look at the unsafe Massa pitstop in Valencia and compare it to the one in Singapore, look at the Spa chicane cutting and compare it to the De La Rosa/Schumacher incident in 2006. Since you're talking about Kimi leaving McLaren to win, this proves one thing Lewis is a better driver than Kimi because Lewis succeeded in winning in a McLaren. In Brazil if it hadn't rained, nobody would have pitted for intermediates and Lewis would have sealed the WDC with considerable ease as Glock would have been a long way behind him so get your facts straight.
You're absolutely right bigrob, I should think many people thought the idea of promoting environmental protection by competing in Formula One is a major contadiction. For environmentalists out there I'm sure if more teams quit F1 it can only help more.
Mosley is being very two faced. He goes instantly from saying how successful his (one way) negotiations are to condemning the teams for their input towards it. If things are that bad, why not leave a few selected areas open for "innovation" while freezing others and swap them around every so often. There will be less complaints about standard wheel nuts, brake ducts, wheels, even brakes than there will be about standard engines.
Actually F1_FERAK_666, I was delighted with the victory of Lewis Hamilton and with Heikki as the second driver and the Stewards (of whom the head steward owns a company who promotes Ferrari goods,) there never was a serious contest for the WCC. I just love seeing muppets like yourself with egg on their face trying to blame Glock for Ferrari's failures. You were probably celebrating along with the Massa family until you realised Ferrari had got their commuppence. I think winning by 12 points - steward intervention is a very credible achievement. If you disagree then explain why Bourdais got punished in Fuji assuming you have enough brain cells.
With the help they get from the FIA, anything less than a clean sweep of titles is a total embarrassment for Ferrari.
I believe Renault were never opposed to standard engines, I thought that when Mosley originally proposed the idea, Renault were one of the few teams not to object. This story is either based on a complete u turn from other teams or misinterpreted comments.
When Toyota start the year without KERS, it seems hard to imagine them closing the gap.
Tgovender, you're the idiot. Having Stewards on the payroll of an F1 team constitutes cheating. The spying was 6 of 1 half a dozen of the other. A Ferrari employee stole the dossier and a McLaren employee received it. Alonso and De La Rosa were the ones using the Ferrari technology. Alonso's pace was the same all 2007 and the FIA even monitored Alonso's treatment at the end of the year to ensure he was getting equal treatment, funny why that didnt happen in Ferrari in the Schumacher era. Renault were also guilty of spying but were let off due to FIA double standards. If you want to know about chicane cutting check this out: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=i5_oENqnPwQ . Schumacher got away with it no surprise there.
I do appeciate that costs need to be controlled, but all the methods used so far have a flaw. That is if you freeze development in one area, the money that is saved will be spent on another area. If you cap the budget, you will se more joint ventures with external companies and outsourced R&D, for manufacturers technology can easily be shared between the parent company and the F1 company, so the budget cap will be difficult to enforce. It is likely that many areas of the car's development will be frozen or standardised like engine, transmission, ECUs and tyres are currently.
I don't agree with people saying that the buyer will inherit a great team of people. Not because I have something against Honda, but the majority of the workforce have probably already started looking elsewhere.
Ferrari to the rescue. Don't make me laugh
OK so Luca is satisfied. This article doesn't really say what has happened in the meetings to reduce costs other than the engine which we all know about. Has anyone seen F1's balance sheet, I'd love to know the revenue that they get each year and how they distribute it.
In terms of cutting costs, logistic of having a third car will be interesting. Teams will have to transport three cars and the reserve car to all corners of the globe and fund the resources for the third driver and his team of engineers. As for Honda, there may be a team called ForceDubai on the grid next season.
As harsh as it may sound, it requires more than hopes and dreams to compete in F1. Honda have made the decision to jump off what appears to be a sinking ship. If a resourceful company such as Honda can't get this team to F1 glory, it will be difficult to find someone who will.
Congratulations to Lewis, anti-Hamilton and anti-British comments likely to follow from sore losers out there.
I have just corrected robson's comments; with luca as boss of FOTA good things will be done for Ferrari. his highest priority will be to get more money for himself & less in the rest of the team's pockets. As usual it will always be divided up by preference so ferrari will end up with the most.
unintended consequences would include many teams leaving F1 and inconsstent performances being rewarded and more races like Indianapolis 2005.
Maybe Brawn should buy Honda then. I'm sure he and others within the company would be able to continue for at least another year to determine whether wins would have materialised Honda have said they will support the team until the start of next season.
robson, you don't make the rules over which teams acn and can't participate. Don't even bother trying to say that you're not biased, you are the most biased user of PlanetF1 and you're even biased enough to become a steward. Nobody cares what cars you own, every comment you make in synonymous with Ferrari or Australian favouritism. If Toyota produce Formula 1 cars and pay all the costs, then they are more than deserving of F1 status and the same goes for the other teams. The reason why Toyota are in F1 is most likely due to advertising since they are a global company and F1 has a near global audience. Not that I would expect an imbecile such as yourself to understand this.
Toyota are saying exactly what Honda would have said a week ago. Marketing is the primary reason for most manufacturers to compete in F1. With the muppet show that Mad Max and the garden gnome are creating its credibility is falling as its cost are increasing. robson even someone as deluded as you should appreciate that without many teams, there is no F1 and both titles are completely worthless. Do you have a Ferrari shrine at home that you pray to?
What's left of Honda F1 sounds like a sinking ship to me. If it didn't have enormous debts, it would not be for sale for a pound, sponsor interest is likely to be at best limited. I don't understand the contracts, drivers and sponsors etc had a contract with Honda F1 who don't exist or won't exist in three months time, so how can anyone be contracted to a non existing company.
This article is a perfect illustration of how out of touch Ecclestone is with F1 teams. Teams are always going to spend all the money they can to gain competitive advantage. I'm sure the majority of fans would rather the garden gnome and Mad Max were sitting "at home with their playstations" People may have sympathy for Button, but there are drivers who have been competing in GP2 finding opportunities becoming scarcer and technical staff finding fewer teams to work for.
Will today be remembered as the day that Formula One "jumped the shark."
Formula one is presently not very profitable, the only people I can see wanting what's left of the Honda team would be one of the bigger teams looking for a reserve team and gaining new KERS technology.
Maufacturers are not naive Max. They will not think that making the Cosworth engine themselves allows them to keep their pride and individuality in F1. This marks the start of F1's own internal recession assuming in didn't start with Super Aguri.
Really Bernie, well the show will not pay for itself. I wouldn't be surprised if Williams and Toyota follow, especially if medals and standard engines come into force. Shame on you Max Mosley, Shame on you Bernie Ecclestone.
This may not specifically force teams to use the tendered engine and transmission, but I don't expect teams to be very happy about this. A lot of technology in a F1 engine is outdated due to restrictions on new technology. Current engines are downsized with a turbocharger, variable valve timing, variable geometry inlet manifolds which are all banned in F1. I would rather see engine technology move forward rather than stagnate. If the engine's maximum speed was reduced to 15000 rpm instead of 19000 rpm, then they would last a longer with considerable cost saving.
Personally, I find it hard to see who would have a lot to benefit from buying Honda. Possibly one of the teams already on the grid so that they could find a reserve team and some existig KERS technology. As the article says the budget is unsustainable and is a huge setback for F1.
It would take considerably more talent to be the best in England than to be the best in Australia, especially when the best in Australia might not even be ready in time, The best English driver is the world champion and the second best has won a grand prix so it would take a considerable amount of talent to beat this. The current best driver in Australia has never won a grand prix so the odds don't support robson's bigotted theories better luck next time.
robson did you realise that Ferrari are not an Australian team. Did you also realise that Brabham based his team in Milton Keynes which is in Great Britain, not some Australian city where there is no racing or engineering talent. If you also look at the history of F1 you'll find that Australia has achieved nothing since 1980 and very little which is not down to Brabham. Hardly supports your theory that Australians rule F1 now does it.
Some of these ideas (not the sole engine or medals) are actually good ideas. An F1 engine is very different to a Golf GTI engine. A race engine will rev upto 19000 rpm and will last for around 1000kms while producing around 700 BHP. A Golf GTI engine will rev upto around 8000 rpm while producing around 200 BHP a will last for around 300,000kms. As far as I'm concerned, it should be a challenge for teams to manage fuel consumption, so I won't miss the refuelling during a race.
If his head was screwed on tightly, his father wouldn't be doubting his motivation and he would probably have been in F1 much earlier. Alonso is the same age as him and there is a big difference in terms of achievement and experience. If he wants to join Ferrari he'd better get in line he's not the only one.
Close the door on your way out drama queen.
Renewed Prost/Senna battles would make F1 more interesting, but going by this article it doesn't sound very likely.
In all fairness Hamilton won fair and square by much more than the single point the records show. I can see teething problems for the teams with the new regulations. The balance of the car will be difficult to perfect and the removal of chimneys and shark gills may lead to overheating problems. Drivers will also have to learn how and when to use the extra KERS power.
Hello this article isn't about Hamilton. All drivers other than the Ferrari ones, Hamilton and Kubica were never really serious contenders for te WDC. For Nakajima and Williams the top of the midfield is the best they can realistically hope for. If medals happen anything will be a bonus for them.
Assuming all their attention has been on the 2009 car since Canada as speculation indicates. They will have had more preparation time than McLaren or Ferrari. Therefore, they should have a title challenging car. If they wrote off 2008 after scoring a 1-2 finish, I can't understand why.
Alonso initially left Renault because he wanted to prove that he could become champion with more than one team. As yet he hasn't done this so it is unlikely that Fernando will stop looking for other oppotunities.
Looks like an interesting contest with him, Alonso and Italian youngsters waiting for their opportunities. A lot of pressure on Raikkonen and Massa.
No they haven't taken action, What they have announced does not change who makes the decisions or how they are made. The sport came within two corners of producing the most farcical year in F1 history a hard act to follow considering the previous year. Whether you're on Ferrari's or McLaren's side try explaing why Massa was punished in Singapore but not in Valencia for the exact carbon copy offence. As for the Burdais incident that is beyond a joke. I'm afraid the sport has been damaged and still is by ridiculous ideas of medals etc. MotoGP doesn't have rubbish like this going on and you get overtaking and has a better points system than F1. So maybe F1 should learn from MotoGP's example before it is too late.
With a bit of luck Slavica will own 50 percent of the F1 commercial rights and will be able to veto some of this rubbish her ex husband comes up with. Maybe the old folks home will come and collect him. No harm in hoping I guess.
I'm sure that everyone want to be dictated to like this. The turnout may be lower than expected.
Sorry to disappoint people here but Ferrari have concerns about Alonso going back to the trouble he caused at McLaren. Both Ferrari drivers are contracted until the end of 2010. Alonso's dream race seat is still a long way away at present. Renault are improving and may get on well with KERS.
Lewis's record so far shows that he's up there with the best. For those of you who are saying he wont will any more titles, I will remind you that you were saying the same thing last year and guess what, you were totally wrong. Last year McLaren apparently couldn't produce a car without the Ferrari dossier and Lewis couldn't handle a car without traction control. "McLaren not being able to use 3 year old designs" won't make a difference as the regulation have changed so much. The only thing that can stop Lewis is the Stewards and massive improvements from other teams and drivers.
I'm sure this is just the news that Alonso and Santander want to hear.
It may all sound underhand to some but what's changed? This still happens today and probably always will. Barichello said "we didn't know half of it" this was all blatantly obvious at the time. This could just have been a blackmail attempt aimed at Brawn to keep his Honda career going. Hardly news though
This would actually be a good idea if there were only four teams. Reality check, if this is approved, then there is no point in the second half of the grid turning up. Drivers can also potentially retire for the second half of the season if they get enough wins in the first half. Please consider why on earth would the majority or all the teams as quoted approve this idea. BMW only had one win and Kubica finished 4th overall which would have been 6th in this system, much lower than he deserved. This does not reward consistency and is a blow fot the credibility of F1.
You may be looking down your nose at someone who left Formula One for NASCAR but it may not be so stupid. With the muppet show run by Mad Max and the garden gnome not to mention the stewards, why would anyone want to take part in F1 when there are fairer and more lucrative opportunities the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. sydjed, in America, Formula One is considered second grade to the likes of IRL and NASCAR, yes I know they're predominantly oval tracks. If F1 doesn't sort itself out more drivers may follow JPM's example.
F1Freak Hamilton won and deserved to win plain and simple. Just look and the Stewards attempts to sabotage him. The medals system belongs in the Olympics and not in F1. You're trying to use this as an excuse to think that Massa was the deserved winner. Wake up, Hamilton got more points and hence is the deserved WDC. Abandoning the points system will remove the focus from the midfield and anyone who doesn't get on the podium next year will have achieved nothing. This shows that Formula 1 is now in decline along with Ecclestone's state of mind which will soon reach your level.
Kimi and Lewis have both won a WDC each. A stamp of approval is one of the many honours Lewis will receive as well as sports personality of the year and possibly an OBE. So criticising him for no reason is very lame and very bitter. Why don't you just move on and see what happens next year before deciding Lewis is a one hit wonder.
Obviously nobody wants to pay Ecclestone's rates for hosting a grand prix. More grand prixs may follow China, France and Canada's example.
Pole position is enough of an advantage without the extra point. This will also increase the amount of seriously low fuelled cars doing a small inital stint. How about combining Q1 and Q2 and keep Q3 as it is. This way less fuel and tyres will need to be used (remember Mosley's cost cutting.)
Maybe Bernie should mind his own business. His marriage should be much more of a priority.
robson I didn't expect someone with an IQ of less than 1 to understand drag and downforce. I also find it extremely worrying that you know so much about drag queens. It does explain your warped mind though.
Bernie has had 3 senior moments in less than a month. Bernie leave while you and Formula one still has an ounce of credibility left and while there are still ten teams left.
Just to let people know more drag means more downforce which makes faster cornering but slower straight line speeds. Reducing downforce will mean faster straight line speeds but slower cornering speeds. I hope this clears things up.
I'm not a fan of customer cars, McLaren should be worrying about their own drivers and Force India should be worrying about theirs. If supermarkets did things like this the competition commission would be taking action against them.
May be interesting for some but shouldn't Hamilton be winter testing to get used to new bodywork and new technology. I'm surprised he has time for things like this.
Some people don't bother watching the hour and a half before the race where they speculate on what might happen and yes talk about Lewis Hamilton. For someone who turns during the formation lap and just watches the race, it will be just like ITV but without the adverts. In my opinion this is a big improvement. I don't think much else will change.
For me it seems that the FIA are trying to allow more downforce to the front of the vehicle, which in theory will help overtaking around corners. Since the rear wing is small, I think overtaking will be harder because there is less of a slipstream. Next year expect less locking up of front wheels and maybe more problems with the balance of the cars certainly early on in the season.
Robson if you want to know about whinging I suggest you read your previous comments again. I am not whinging I am enjoying a pathetic little muppet like you being a sore loser with sour grapes and yes whinging. You really make the taste of victory very sweet. I hope you won't harm yourself if Ferrari lose again next year.
You'll be waiting a very long time before there aren't any Brits involved. By which time robson may have grown a second brain cell.
Robson, Brawn was in charge of the development of Bennetton when they and Schumacher were winning. He was also in charge of technical development at Ferrari when they and Schumacher were winning. Since he left the teams, their performances have dipped. So how does it feel robson Ferrari's success is down to a Brit. Massa's engineer who nearly guided him to glory this year is guess what British. The majority of the Formula 1 teams are based in Britain where they do their intellectual work (I wonder why)robson please don't leave planetf1, I find your comments very ammusing. Everyone needs someone to look down at.
Jenson needs to at least beat his teammate to show that he's worthy of better things. Sadly by the time Honda has a world championship challenging car Jenson may be over the hill. Robson I have told you before Formula 1 is about teams competing to become champions and driver's competing to bring the championship home for their team. It is not about your vision of a team and a governing body versus the rest. If its just Ferrari there is no contest, no sponsorship, no money and the victories will be completely worthless. You need move on from the Schumacher days.
F1_Freak_666 look at the F1 2008 results. Ferrari lost they are throwing their toys out the pram (with the exception of their drivers) If you think the poms aren't celebrating watch sport personality of the year and the results will tell all when Hamilton wins. McLaren weren't the only team involved in spying and weren't the only team to get caught Renault also had CDs of McLaren intellectual property but were let off. The Mannarro Muppets have stewards and senior FIA officials as business partners. The only reason why McLaren get accused is because the FIA consistenly rule against them for reasons which you can make your own mind up about. You weren't complaining about racism when it was directed at Hamilton now were you
Geoff1, unfortunately whenever Glock's name is mentioned, conspiracy theories from naive muppets will soon follow. I try to balance things out. I think Glock's progress next year will be dependant on Toyota's development with KERS. So it may be a difficult start.
I hope the repair jobs to the track are better than they were earlier this year. We need a North American grand prix though if F1 wants to succeed outside Europe
Well done untac93 nice to hear from someone with wisdom. To anyone who thinks Glock was acting for McLaren You should remember that Alonso pledged to help Massa which is very similar what what you're accusing Glock of so get off your high horses! Dry tyres have little grip when they lose temperature. Rain cools them down, they're pressure drops and that makes a massive difference to lap times.
Robson does this mean that Ferrari aren't capable of winning unless they get all of the pie? I got an interesting proposal for you, how about we stop formula one, give Ferrari the constructors championship and all the FOM money and toss a coin to determine whether or not Raikonnen or Massa gets the driver's title. You're the only one whingeing the poms are all celebrating the greatest cheats in F1 history crying because they got beaten by their archrivals. Go and start your own breakaway league convict.
Stop making excuses for Alonso, it is upto him and his engineers to get tyre pressures right. Lewis wasn't whining about it and he had the same car. Part of being a good driver is getting the car setuup right. FAIL TO PLAN, PLAN TO FAIL.
Robson why is Luca always right? You sound to me like you have an unhealthy obsession with him and Ferrari. The points system wasn't changed for the sole purpose of a conspiracy to help Lewis Hamilton become world champion. Schumacher got away with everything. Ramming rivals, ignoring penalties, cutting chicanes. Other than in Monaco when Schumacher started from the pitlane after paring his car in the middle of the track during qualifying name me one time where Schumacher was penalised.
nobson I think you are living in a dream world. If Ferrari were ahead of everyone else they wouldn't be whingeing remember 2000-2004 where they dominated. They didn't whinge much then. Now that the competition is closer they can't take it because they're losing and need assisstance from stewards. Talk about sour grapes. Just for you though CONGRATULATIONS TO 2008 WORLD CHAMPION LEWIS HAMILTON
His season was about much more than one corner. His strategy actually helped him in the long run in Brazil. He was a long way behind Vettel and Hamilton before they pitted for intermediates
A few tips for cutting costs 1 Cut down on number of laps winter testing and lose one of the three qualifying sessions. Reason: nobody watches winter testing and it is blatantly obvious who will win after the first pit stops. Why so many qualifying sessions? eliminate 5 then another five. Just have one for top ten and another for pole position. 2 Slow down the maximum engine speeds so that they last for more than 2 races. They cost way too much given the life of them. 3 Restrict fuel tank size and ban refuelling. Economical cars are essential for the modern world and F1 could help produce more economical road cars.
Luca I hope you're not just saying this because Ferrari are behind some of the other teams in terms of KERS development. Formula one is about all the teams not just Ferrari and I hope the FIA don't yield when Ferrari start flexing their muscles for once.
By the way seanhrcc Vettel drove for BMW and finished behind Hamilton. Hamilton got his seat at McLaren because his CONSIDERABLE TALENT got him noticed by Ron Dennis. Not mentioning the fact that Hamilton has won GP2 and karting events before WINNING THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP in a lesser car than the Ferraris. A good way to assess a driver's skill is to compare them to their teammate. He upstaged a double world champion last year and there was no comparison between him and Heikki. If you want to see Hamilton in a lesser car watch him on top gear in the Suzuki Liana. He made minemeat of other F1 drivers on a wet and oily track.
Toyota probably have more pride than to become involved in partnerships like this. If Glock really wanted to help Hamilton, then he could have pitted for intermediates when everyone else did and he wouldn't be accused of helping McLaren and would have finished even further behind Hamilton and Vettel.
By the way the world champion has nothing to prove until next season. Shame on everyone who thinks he does
I may be a McLaren fan but this is wrong. I don't agree with two teams being allowed to collude together like this. The same goes for RedBull and STR. Drivers should race for the teams and themselves no-one else. If teams share this much technical knowledge why not have standard engines?
I really think Jenson should spend more time worrying about his own performances and his own career rather being jealous about being usurped as the number one British driver. His 2004 performances are becoming a distant memory and if he keeps his race seat with Honda his chances will become more limited as time goes on. I'd like to remind people about Honda saying they're concentrating on the 2008 car in 2007 and the 2009 car this year. When are they going to start living in the present rather than looking too far ahead. You win the 2009 championship in 2009 not the 2010 one.
Any thoughts on why McLaren haven't approached Sebastien Vettel Mercedes would like a German driver and Nico Rosberg turned them down.
If you don't like planetf1 don't use the website. There area a few spanish sites if you'd rather hear about Glock onspiracy theories and disgruntled fans with sour grapes. CONGRATULATIONS TO LEWIS HAMILTON WORLD CHAMPION 2008
Another example of people bringing their country into disrepute. Must make the victory even more satisfying for Lewis
Call him what you like he is the world champion and he did it convincingly(by 12 points - steward intervention) despite have a slower car than the Ferrari boys who also don't seem to be involved in mickey mouse races around wembley.
I think Bernie is once again missing the point. Does any one remember his comments before the Canadian grand prix regarding the last minute repair job to the track? "It's the same for everyone" Anyway my point is he and Mosley should graciously step aside while there is still dignity lef in F1
Robson like it or not he is a UK naional hero and he will probably win sports personality of the year I hope you tune in to see him given his trophy. PS he can live where he wants it's got nothing to do with you.
If Lewis goes to Ferrari, (I know he's not that stupid) then he would be branded a traitor for the rest of his career. If he gets a championship winning car then why should he change.
Time for Bernie to go to the old folks home. Racism is totally unacceptable in this day and age regardless of how much "ching ching" Bernie gets from the offenders. Stamp it out or Formula one's credibility will sink like the Titanic.
Since we're talking about people who are in decline what about Alonso? Upstaged by his rookie teammate last year and throws his 20 cents in when his former teammate is on the brink of winning. Robson why do you think he's in decline? He lost be a point last year and won by a point (which would be 12 point if it wasn't for the cheating stewards.) I think he's getting better each year and will keep challenging for the title.
By the way Hamilton won won seven and Massa won four. Valencia and Spa were gifted to you by the stewards so get off your high horse!
Please stop making retrospective demands that would have given you the title.
I'd have more respect for his views if he'd said that before the result of the Brazilian grand prix. For the record there are MANY rules in F1 that need to change especially the stewards who nearly gifted Ferrari the title.
F1_FREAK_666 Hamilton is certainly good enough to drive for Ferrari he's the world champion and he did despite the Ferrari being the faster car and despite the stewards and pathetic psychological warfare tactics. Hamilton won fair and square by eleven points not the one point it suggests get over it!
Don't blame Vettel for racing. At least he isn't racing for Ferrari. Also lose these conspiracy theories about Glock he took a gamble which backfired end of story. Congratulations to Lewis Hamilton for a fully deserved title.
Glock and Hamilton are not best friends (reference the witch hunting fota conference). Forget your conspriacy about Glock giving the championship to Hamilton. Lewis won it fair and square despite the help of stewards wearing red jackets with a prancing horse on them and other drivers not to mention thousands of fans booing him.
To all you pinchalarue people out there. Your pathetic attempt to sabotage Lewis have failed miserably. I hope you enjoy the bitter taste of defeat. Congratulations to Lewis you beat Ferrari, the stewards and the Ferrari International Assistance.

F1 has been released from jail, it's still under house arrest until Bernie goes. Looks like Deepwater330 needs a new hero.
