alonso has incredible faith in ferrari also knowing full well the FIA have shown to be biased against ferrari on many occasions. best example was in 07 when mclaren cheated (so were rightly thrown out) but the FIA allowed the drivers to keep their points who got them in an illegal car. there is nothing so evil in sport as a bias to equal that one.

You're right sss2512 about your quote "This is in fact italian press you must understand. It's like the spanish press in many ways." But you forget to mention that the british press is about as bogus as they come; much like the National Inquirer. American Press is still the BEST by far aside from some of the hokie tabloids that congest the checkout stands with Rumor, and speculation much like the British press.

TGovender you bring new meaning to the term "as thick as 2 short planks." Hamilton didn't win by default he won by scoring more points than every other driver. If you remove the pathetic attempts at sabotage by the stewards, he won by considerably more points and won 3 more races than anyone else. The likes of Prost, Senna and Schumacher didn't prove they were good enough by being mobile chicanes in underperforming cars, they proved they were good enough by winning consistently with what they had just like Hamilton is doing presently. You're parents obviously didn't buy you enough sweeties for christmas, you still have a sour taste in your mouth.

ElvisBeavis - you're right he's no Lewis Hamilton. Alonso's got 2 world championships and 2 wins in a slug this year.

ElvisBeavis Butthead lets she if Hamilton can win in an underperforming car. He aint the best he won the championship by default if u think about it.

Put Hamilton in a Force India and lets what he does, let not foget, he has the best support, backing and financial support of pretty much any driver out there. Oh, and he is in the best car by a country mile. As for Alonso and Ferrari, I suspect you will find certain clauses in contracts that would mean they would have to pay either Kimi or Fellipe a rather large sum to drop them. In the current economic climate, that coupled with the money required to bring Alonso on stream meaks it highly unlickly.

Really, who cares. Everyone talks as if it's a foregone conclusion that a Ferrari Alonso partnership will be unstoppable. He's good but he's no Lewis Hamilton.

I think Alonso is sh*t hot, but if he was that good, he'd be driving for Ferrari right now. If he can't muscle Kimi out of a seat then he can't be that rated by Ferrari. Damn shame.

Alonso has a large ego and talent to back it up but at what cost? Unfortunately for sports teams talent has not always equated to winning. Why would Ferrari not want him? If any of their current drivers fail to perform then I'm sure they will feel the heat and Alonso will get his contract. But it's all good for the sport as long as Bernie keeps his fingers out of the pie!

It is certainly "Silly-Season", in full swing. Hot-Shoe's can show up very quickly. Seemingly out of nowhere. Rendering all this speculation moot. In my eyes, a contract with mutual get-out clauses is not a contract at all. More of an agreement of possible intent. Too many variables for a wager to placed on the outcome. Oh, the drama...

The way Alonso cost McLaren the world championship in 2007 should give any team pause before hiring him even if he is fantastic. There are other drivers like Vettel and Kubica who are probably as good. I expect Kimi will either be brilliant and win another championship or lackluster, either way I think 2009 will be his last year in F1.

This is in fact italian press you must understand. It's like the spanish press in many ways. An example would be how newspapers in madrid kept saying how Cristiano Ronaldo had already signed for real madrid when actually he didn't. Same thing here really... Can one really believe this i'm not sure myself.

The release of a new article linking Alonso to Ferrari is almost as regular and predictable as Ferrari and McLaren fans' arguments. It goes like this - Ferrari fan: you've only been watching F1 for a year - McLaren fan: I've been watching F1 for over 20 years and I buy loads of merchandise, therefore, I know more than you! Cheaters! FIArrari!

Who cares? If it happens, it happens and they'll deserve each other. I bet all the other drivers and teams are quaking in their boots at this super-dooper pairing! But 2 years is a long time in F1 - Renault might not even last the year yet - so who's to say he'll still be wanted by then? As for his alledged 'contract with get out clauses for both sides', is that really a contract at all? Doesn't show much faith from either camp (if this recirculating rumour ever turns out to be true....).

Maybe we can go back to the 80's when Senna vs Prost vs Mansall vs Piquet. They all fighting each other and looking for equally competive cars and teams. Hamilton vs Alonso vs Kubia sounds good...........

Let's hope for Ferrari's sake he doesn't threaten to hold them to ransom for the sake of preferential treatment like he did at McLaren. I admit he is a good driver and a worthy champion but he has to exercise a bit of humility otherwise he will be heading for early retirement.

Even if this happens, Alonso would not want a quick driver as his team-mate (saw what happened in 07 with Hamilton). The problem is that the drivers at Ferrari are always exceptional.. So Alonso faces a dilemma.

being a ferrari fan, i never liked alonso.... always talking too much, against ferrari, against schumi, and after de 780 dossier affair, i liked him even less... but luca´s got a point when he states that fernando is a "team leader", wich kimi isn´t because he doesnt seem to care... but i still like him, so go kimi!! forza ferrari!

Wow, two years away is a long wait. Let's hope Renault will have a winning R29 for '09 and '10. I'd rather see him win for next year and year after. If Alonso could beat Schumi for '05 and '06 I don't see why he can't do the same. It can be DEJA VU once again. 87 days to the first race, please let it happen soon.

Did I miss something, or is: "..but for the moment we don't have any problem with our current drivers..." hardly a ringing endorsement? Mind you if I paid Kimi US$50m or whatever he's getting and all he did was trundle around and set the fastest lap three quarters of the way through a race (when he wakes up), I'd be mildy upset too!

I for one can't wait for a Ferrari/Alonso partnership - if only to poke one in the eye for all the Ferrari fans that believe it's a foregone conclusion that LH is going to somehow lose his talent and be beaten by them. Bring it on I say. Might even make F1 more exciting to watch in the process.

This is the same news story repeated at monthly intervals, we all know Alonso wants to join. He is not the only, one Vettel is younger and of a similar talent. Who wouldn't want to join a team that is subsidised by the F1 management both financially and with the regulations.
