Mark Webber has always been amongst the best few drivers on the grid, now he has the car to prove it, well done Mark, legend.
I agree that taking down Saddam Hussein and the Taliban are both obvious blunders by Western forces, however Bernie surely knows that it was not done to "save" Iraq and Afghanistan. Surely he knows that there is a lot more deep corruption than that. Totally disagree with him with the "gets things done" policy, Margaret Thatcher got things done but at what cost? With that pattern of thinking you could also say George Bush got things done too. I agree with Bernie that Mosley would make a good corrupt leader of Britain though, perfect for the neocons, no doubt.
deejdee: Yeah true I can't disagree, i mean he only has three 2nd place finishes so obviously no hope he will win... ?
I don't understand, where does it Webber say he has a shot at this year's title? Not that I don't agree with it, but you shouldn't write articles up without anything to back you up. Mark said he is confident he can haul some good points in future, does that automatically mean he is claiming himself as a championship contender? Also to batfuds: Obviously your knowledge of F1 is not sufficient, if Mark "aint got it" then I guess Vettel is an ordinary driver to only be 3.5 points ahead of someone who "aint got it." Red Bull wouldn't sign Mark on if they thought he didn't have what it takes to bring in good results, which is just what he is doing, even beating Vettel in some races. Not many other older F1 drivers would do the same, let alone even some of the younger ones.
Things didn't go Webber's way so much this weekend but 2nd result considering this is great. Don't worry mate, your race win will come soon!
Good job by the top 4, especially by Jenson. Mark Webber's pace seemed good for the fuel he has too, I have a feeling this could be an interesting battle by Red Bull and Brawn.
mrkjf: I suppose your criticism is the cause of lack of knowledge of realistic F1 driver abilities in the most challenging motorsport on Earth. Therefore no point replying with justifications. Good luck!
Would be awesome if Wurz not only ran an F1 team but drove for it too!
I feel Vettel could and should have been higher, his performance has been exceptional all weekend and I expected him to fight for pole, but he had a little trouble in his lap. I believe Mark Webber is fairly heavy compared to the others as well as Alonso and probably Nakajima. Rosberg I think will be light and should have been in the top 3 in quali. Should make for a thrilling race.
Red Bull have proved to be very close to Brawn but I don't think they are fast enough to beat them in the dry, nevertheless I wouldn't discount either of the 2, Webbo or Vettel, of a win.
I totally back what Mark is saying, particularly in regards to Kubica. Most of us would agree that Kubica's great consistency and great driving gave me a chance at the title last year, I feel it was well deserved but under the new rules he wouldn't have any chance to win the title, we want to see more than 2 drivers going for the title, with new rules its going to be rare I think.
Testing doesn't mean much in terms of who is faster because you never know what fuel or strategy the cars are on when they complete their best lap. Best way to get an understanding is to read the actual team reports and check how they feel their progress is going. Just looking at times and saying "wow BMW beat Ferrari" is naive.
Webber has a reputation of generally outpacing all his teammates so I'm sure that Vettel won't find it too easy to beat him, we'll see if he can be the first teammate Mark has ever had to actually outpace him.
Maybe an over-ambitious attitude, however every driver should always aim as high as possible and consider themselves capable of anything. I remember when Ralf Schumacher made a statement a few years back saying he is in the top 3 best drivers on the grid and he was mocked till the cows came home. I was one of the only ones to say, "if he doesn't consider himself capable of beating the best, what the hell is he doing in Formula 1 anyway?" I'm no fan of Nick but I admire his desire to win and hope he can get his first win this year.
No doubt Alonso is one of the most talented guys out there, but he's beatable, in fact was beaten by a rookie teammate in Mclaren in 2007. These comments by Pat Symonds are just pushed forward by the media to sell papers. Almost any team representative can label his own driver(s) as the best on the grid, but only until they are all with the same car for an entire season we will know the truth.
Red Bull really need to make a step up this season. They have two teams so more resources overall and at least in the premier team they have two exceptional drivers, of Mark and Sebastian. They made some progress in terms of reliability in 2008, now its time for some progress in terms of car performance and overall speed.

Deny it all you want, fact is, Rubens is playing 2nd fiddle to Button. Somehow ends up right behind Button after the pit stops, just like what happened in the past, yeah sure big coincidence!
