Ltes hope they use a decent testing team this time, and i don't mean just the drivers, the whole test team and managemnet are responsible for the rubbish car this year
So he is complaining about being called a dictator and is demanding an apology.......ummm sounds like the sort of thing dictators say
Ummm I wonder if Jean Todt is going to be as difficult to deal with, and press on with the Mosley preposals, now that the teams have agreed to stay on, if Max had gone last year after the sex allergations there wouldn't have been this problem in the first place
There is a full list on eurosport....
radweld, Because Heikki is always given the slower stratergy, because he can make the tyres last on a 1 stop stratergy, unlike Hammy, who can't, either way the cars rubbish,
Next race in Germany, Vettel will be out for a home win, so expect him to be going for it, maybe it will all end in the gravel he's still prone to making mistakes, hopefully we can have redbull and Brawn fighting for the rest of the year, and not a sewn up championship 4 races from the end of the season
He's having trouble with the car because of his driving style, the chuck it and catch it approach he used in the traction control days doesn't work with this car, and it wears his tyres out quicker too, Heikki's smoother style allowes him to get a bit more time from the car.
RoadsTTer, If you didn't get to see this years Le-mans race, you missed one of the best races for many years, i hope you can get the DVD when it comes out later in the year, 4 Peugeots, 3 audi's and the lead changing hands well into the night time
I can see lots of problems here, fistly when is the cap going to be counted? at the end of the current year? if thats the case, if youve overspent, then that means the world champ might be kicked out because his team went over the budget cap, and we have a new champ decided in the courtrooms again!!! or will it be an ongoing calculation? if thats the case how many teams wont be able to finish the year because thay have already spent their £40 million budget and cant afford to turn up for the last 3 rounds, just supposing that was the current points leader and he has to sit out the last 3 races and hope no one beats him, and we'would have the case of a smaller grids, would this mean less points awared for a win or 5th place or no points from 6th???
jaslar16, Yes your right 5th is the very best anyone could hope for against the diesels cars, but to get 5th you have to finish, Keep having mosnter shunts that demolish's the car isn't the way to get you noticed as an F1 driver, and H.H.F also set the faster lap at le-mans in a Lola in 1992, which wasn't anywhere near the best car compared to the Peugeots 905.
I thought that was a foregone conclusion after the farce of this years race, mind you if we have a breakaway series they might not have a race to stage
He hasn't set the world alight in the sportcars he's been racing, or should I say crashing, 2 big shunts, so far this year, one at Spa, and one at Le-mans last weekend, maybe he just isnt good enough to get a seat, Scume, H,H Frensen, and Karl Wendlinger all blew the others away in the Sauber Mercedes back in the 80's and 90's, Bruno hasn't done that,
Bully boy tactics is all Bernie knows about, As long as the breakaway teams dont't call it F1 and don't poach anyone Bernies is contracted to he can't do a thing, we can have some decent tracks back on the callander, San remo, Canada, maybe 2 races in the States, Keep Silverstone after this year, Estoril, Jerez, maybe the Bugatti Circuit at Lemans, Zolder or Zandvort, Brands hatch... the list doesn't stop here. I bet many of these circuits would do deals just to spite Bernie and Max. There no reason why the teams can't approach, ITV for the TV rights, ( this would be the logical choice as they have the infrastructure from the past yeas in place) im sure there are plenty of other people B&M have annoyed in the past few years who would love to get one over on them, let hope we get a break away series, I for one wont miss half the current tracks, and all the polmics
Oh dear, expect a dull race if Trulli qualifies well, and then trundles round holding 2/3's of the field up, maybe Toyota could put him on a long 1 stop stratergy and then he would only hold up the Mclarens
It amazing , we had years of Ferrari / Schume domanance, and Bernie hardly bothered to complain then, Im enjoying seeing different drivers and teams winning or doing well, The Ferrari VS Mclaren battle was getting a bit stale, and the stewards made it artifically close a few times. maybe if Max and Bernie hadn't changed the rules of the car designs this year, it would have been a different story. I guess it all comes back to you then Bernie.....
Wondergoblin, the reason Vettel was sent out on the harder tyre for a shot stop was beacuse the softer tye wans't working well after a few laps it dropped off quickly and the harder tyre was quicker even for a shot stint. the soft tyre only really started working at the end of the race when more rubber was laid down, Also I dont think Vettel yet has the fitness to muscle one of these current cars for 2 short stints at qualifing pace to make a 3 stop work, compare him to Webber and Jense at the end of the race, they were both fresh and hardly broke sweat.
I think the Mclaren back in 95 that Mark Blundell, Mika Hakkinen ( and Mansell for 1 race ) tried to race was worse than this current car
Thank goodness that Webber has finally been noticed ahead of the more regular drivers heading the winners table,
Stay where you are Jense, as long as Ross is at that team, your sure to get a decent car, and a team not full of clowns to mess up your pit stops
I really hope he does win a GP soon, he's been so unlucky in the past, he has had a good year so far, but he should of just kept quiet and kept his head down, because it seems as soon as drivers say this sort of statement, their run of decent race's turns to ratshite, but good luck to you Mark, I hope you can win one soon
Expect BMW to follow suit in a few weeks if their dire season continues
As Massa has won in Turkey for the last 3 years, it really will be an acid Test, it will be interesting to see the difeence between Ferrari and Mclaren, and who reallly has made the most progress with their cars so far, Can't see either of them cathcing the Brawns here though, turn 8 really will be a white knuckle ride if you still haven't got a decent diffuser
Jense is a very quck driver, but his secret is his mechanical sympathy as well as his smooth fluid lines, compare his style to the chuck it and catch it style of Hammy, over a race distance in the same car, I bet Jense would have Hammy beat every time, its a shame they wont ever be team mates,... that really would be a season to watch
What would happen Bernie if the TV companies you have deals with put a profit cap on their contracts with you... I bet you would re-neg on those contracts pretty quick
Lets see how quick Hammy is when he has to qualify with race fuel, I think he will get into the top ten, but can't see him getting between the Brawns, Vettel and Trulli, that or Mclaren will give him a really light car and he can have 12 glory laps before having to pit
Looks like Silverstone will get the Brisitsh GP for one year then (assuming Donnington doesn't get it sorted by then ) and then were off to India in place of the british GP.... lets hope not
seems the sensible idea, Might as well stop throwing money at this car, do a Brawn and try and get next years car right... could be an easier year if there's no Ferrari about..or BMW,Red Bull, Renault and Toyota
I think Brawn will have the front row locked out at Monaco, with Red bull, and Toyota fighting for the best of the rest, Vettel should jsut have the edge though, Both Jense and Rubens are quick here and love street circuits, but that could spell trouble down to the first corner, if Rubens really wants to be world champ, he's got to get this race won and get Jense on the back foot, it could be a real headache for Ross if these two start to race each other all year and take each other out
Ok bye then.... :-)
I think Hammy has to shoulder some of the blame for this "bad car" as it was he and DelaRosa that did most of the testing over the winter, so he helped develop this shed, that and the fact that they continued to test a hybrid car with last years rear wing for far too long, if the car doesn't work you should have realised that in January, and started to sort it, YOU and the team are to blame, not just the people back at Woking
Bernie might be prepaired to shelve it, but what about us fans.... you know the ones that either watch it on tv or travel to the circuits pay an inflatted prices to get in, buy merchandise, and line your pockets Bernie, have you thought about what the people who have helped to make you rich want?????... maybe Silverstone just haven't offered you enough cash over and above the price Donnington have coughed up?
F1nestkind, you havent read what I have writtten correctly, I sugested that Rubens be put on a 2 stopper AFTER his first stop not before, after the 1st stop Rubens came out ahead of Rosberg and able to pull away as he was fueled light, it was at this point he could then have been put on a 2 stopper just like jense and had a long run to the end like Webber, and your right Button was being held up by Rubens BEFORE the FIRST stop as Jense was in a slightly lighter car, if you notice I wrote that Rubens was faster than Jense AFTER the first stop, not before, because AFTER THE FIRST STOP Rubens had a lighter car, and he WAS LAPPING significantly faster than Jense AFTER THE FIRST STOP. where Rubens lost the race was AFTER THE 2ND STOP when he was expected to again put in a mega stint before the 3rd pit stop on to the harder tyres, watch the race again you'll see that AFTER THE 1ST PIT STOP Rubens is lapping much quicker than Jense, hope that clears it up for you.....and I don't think there was any conspiracy, just a tough race between team mates....
Well it might not have the fast corners where you car isn't great, but you also wont be able to use the KERS much either, you might get a top 6 place if you can keep out of trouble and others in front have problems or accidents,
Maybe he should learn not to destroy his tyres that should help a bit, considering he reckons he's got no grip, its amazing the tyre issues he is having this year, still could be worse..... he could be driving the other Mclaren with the Fisher Price electroincs :-)
I can see why Rubens if miffed, if they could change Button on to a 2 stop stratergy, why couldn't they change him on to a 2 stop as well, after Rubens 1st stop he had 18 laps worth of fuel, plenty of time to re-calculate the fuel for a long run on hard tyres Rubens did a good job putting in some really quick times and pulling away from button in a heavier car, Rubens lost time after his 2nd stop not his first, Rubens was expected to do 2 stops and drive every lap like a qualifer to beat button, thats a big ask, and only Schume has been able to do that in recent years.
I don't see why Honda should be allowed back in straight away, they were quick enough to run away when it suited them, and for goodness sake, no more crashuma sato pleassssssee
Well 300 percent may have watched the start of the Malaysian GP, but I bet 600 percent switched off before the broadcast was any where near over.... was anyone else bored with watching nealry an hour of stationary cars on a wet track??????? NO MORE LATE RACES IN MONSOON COUNTRIES PLEASE BERNIE
Senna27, Exactly right, Bernie knew Donnoington was never going to happen, he will fine them for not being able to host the race, and then charge Silverstone a fortune to run the race until he organise's another asian borefest in mongolia or somewhere else less interesting.... kerchinggggg
They should call the breakway series, "The non-capped unlimited budget fastest car wins Formula" :-)))
Didn't he do this 2 years ago after the agro with Alonso? its all an ego trip, he loves all the media attention, it goes with being a mega paid superstar Lewis, either put up or shut up , or even better keep your word and leave, give someone else a chance of a Mclaren drive
Oh dear, another nail in the 2010 British GP. Im so surprised that The wheatcrofts are doing this now, Im sure they could do with the money, but wouldn't it be better to wait until the circuit is finished and the GP a definate before trying to get.
I bet Ross is laughing now, Ferrari has to to pieces since he and Todt were shoved to one side to favour the itilians
If Mclaren pull out who are the FIA going to pick on next??? maybe Brawn or Force india as they use Mercedes engines
Viceman, Firstly, he's not my dear Massa, I was merely pointing out that Hammy spun as many times as Massa at Silverstone, and Massa was slated for it regardless of where he finished. More importantly how can you say Hammy had a poorly set up car, and then storm past other drivers??? the car was pretty good hence he was able to overtake you can¿t have it both ways!! I was just noting that it wasn't worthy of a Winners selection, Hammy finished behind his team mate who started 12th, 3 places Behind him and didn't spin off, and Glock who started 19th was right behind Hammy. this was hardly a winning drive, but I guess it depends on your opinion of driving standards¿ oh and my dear Massa was in 6th from 13th on the grid in front of and lapping faster than Hammy when his car broke down, :-)
Well done to Red Bull, and Brawn, its so good to see differnt teams and drivers winning, I'm not convinced Hammy should be in the winners part, yep he climbed a few places, and yes he over took a good few other drivers ( Kimi twice) but he spun 5 times and was behind a force india for a while, I thought he was supposed the best and the next rain meister.... the last time a current driver spun 5 times in the wet ( Massa at Silverstone ) this site was asking if he was any good, I think Hammy should be in the loosers section, if he is supposed the be the next schumi he should have done better
Im no hamilton fan, but this is just stupid, why cant he just be demoted to 4th place??? I guess the FIA must think he is still a threat to Ferrari and becoming the only british driver to win consecitive championships If this was a normal work place Hamilton would have a good case for bullying by his employer, and constructive dismissal should he choose to leave and go race in indycar.
Ive just realised that the FIA are in a real quandry over this, if they deam the diffusers Illegal, and take away the points etc for this race, that means Hammy will have won the race...from 18th... after spending all last year penalising him and Mclaren they will have to hand them the race win..... oh decisions, decisions, expect this to rumble on until the end of the season or until Hammy can't win the title
I'm hoping it will rain, the diffuser 3 should have an even bigger advantage, as their cars seem much more stable than the rest of the other teams, Jense and Rubens are both excellent in the wet, it also ads unpredictability, maybe well have Vettel up there as well, he was pretty good at Monza in the wet.....
Deepwater, you forgot another of Mansell's favorite race whinges... " I could have won it Murry but..."
Noooooooooooooooo..... don't get James Allen back, he was soooooooo bad, Give Legard a chance, lets face it Allen had his chance and bored and annoyed millions of viewers for years, James Allen regually talked over Brundle, especially at the start of the race, can anyone ever remember anyone other than Allen shouting GOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! for 10 seconds at the start of every race???
I hope the diffusers are deemed legal, lets see how long it takes the rest of the teams to develop the cars during race weekends, as there is now no testing time allowed.... the problem is will the FIA have to fine the remaining teams £100,000,000 each for copying the diffuser 3!!! like they did to Mclaren for copying Ferrari designs
Perhaps if Mclaren spent their time testing the new aero package, then they would have discovered that the car was difficult to drive a few months ago, I don't know why they bothered to test a hybrid car with last years rear wings for so long, they only have themselves to blame,
F246, Well done, at last another person who sees Hammy for the bully he is, as Mansell proved if youve got the best car, its much easier to win. but well done Jensen and Brawn, they had hardly any testing used an engine not destined for that car, and still managed to beat the rest of the field..
The problem is we have to care, because the real tracks, like Montreal, Austria old A1 ring, Spa, etc are loosing out to these dusty borefest tracks, that only the rich car mad people in the middle east want to go and actually spectate at. why cant we have 2 races at all the decent european tracks, and forget these new tracks,
F1nestkind, I dont remember saying Hamilton was rubbish, or that he had lucked into everything he has won since he was born...but now you mention it.... and do I care how much you value my opinion??? no not really, isnt sarcasm great :-)
Makes a change from the usual "Donnington in doubt" stories, im sure it will get finished somehow, look how singapore got completed in a very short time
There was a lot of luck in this result, lets have a more unbiased view, yes he started 18th, with Truli and Glock behind him, Trulli finished in 4th or 3rd, depending on an appeal, so didn't Trulli drive just as well?? More importantly, 7 cars that stated ahead of him failed to finish, inc both the Ferraris, which were lapping faster on similar tyres, and 2 of those were in 2nd and 3rd places, with 3 laps to go, Webber lost a lap at the very start, the only decent drivers infront of him was Alonso and Rosberg, hadrly a hard days work, and lets not forget, Hammy didn't bother to compete in 2 qualifing sessions, so had healthier set of tyres to use up and a free stratergy on fuel...
Goodness, another one of his " my best race ever" how many of these has he had now!!!!! yes he came from 18th to 3rd, but had a lot of luck on the way, it would have been 6th in realistic terms. but he did overtake a few cars on the way, isn't he supposed to be the best??? so why is every hammy surported swooning ovet it
Lets hope the comeback takes about 5 years
Thats great news, Button and Barracehllo can be virgins again :-))) lets hope Brawn F1 soon get a win and show Honda that they should have stuck by with them
Its looking good for some different and new faces on the poduim, and a mix up of the establisment.... I know its only practice and early days yet, but Webber lloks impressive for a normal diffuser car
Maybe you should have done a deal to use Ferrari engines, and called the team Brawrrari !!!!
Well there goes any chance of a Brawn, Toyota or Williams victory, if these three teams qualify well, and are allowed to race, and any of the three have a decent race then the diffusers will be deemed illegal, the FIA will insist they will have to modify the cars before the next race. the Williams and Toyota have already been told that the cars are legal, so why are the four other teams protesting now!!!.... because they are scared, whatever happens, now Ferrari have got involved, its not going in the favour of Brawn, Totota and Williams
Last year Hammy said he would stay at Mclaren to the end of his career, now when there's a chance he may not have the best car, suddenly "oh I may just listen" as a young child Hammy went to Ron and asked for his help, Ron has backed Hammy ever since, as soon as Ron has stepped down, this is the way Hamilton reacts, Not content with leaving the UK, for Switzerland, now he wants to dump Mclaren at the first sign of trouble... Maybe Alsonso wasn't so bad after all
I pretty much agree with most of this, except I believe if the Brawn is a potential race winning car, I think Rubens will start to dominate Jense, especially in qualifing, as for Mclaren, well why bother , its a forgone conclusion, Heikki will have to play 2nd fiddle to Hammy, he's is not allowed to beat him,
I guess as a test driver he'll have less chance of crashing into the other drivers, and then blaming them :-)
Rapido, is that all you have to say!!! to answer your question, No I'm not, and most of the other post's on here seem to agree with me, maybe its you that needs a check up, whats wrong with the top teams getting some serious competiton from the midfield, unless of course your a Ferrari fan and don't want your precious team to get beaten
The Toyota and Williams cars have been inspected by the FIA and they are happy the cars are legal, but as its Ferrari now complaining I bet that all three teams will be asked to change the diffuser before the 2nd GP..I hope that doesnt happen as it will be great to see different teams having an advantage of the established top teams
I really wish all the F1 teams had boycotted the event, what a pratt Bernie would look, Hey then the tracks could fine Bernie for a change... lets see, £10 million per team not to turn up, that should bankrupt the idiot, Bernie you needs to keep the teams and fans happy as F1 is nothing without these two important factors, good on your Ron and Flav, I bet Frank wish's he had been there
The teams don't like it , the drivers don't like it, and the fans don't like it, so Bernie insist's its going to go ahead regardless..... sounds like Mrs thatcher to me.... Lets not worry too much, im sure the rules will have changed again 10 times by this time next year, and Bernie and Max will have come up with loads of other stupid ideas to " maximise the show" if he wants a winner takes all approach, just have 10 points for a win, and 1 point for every other placing, then see who sits around in 2nd place
Will Bernie have any money left once the divorce is over!?!?!?!!? and exactly how has Hamilton been a good world champion??????
So now that there's an American F1 team looking to pay Bernie loads of cash to race, suddenly going back to the USA is a good idea!!!! talk about U turns.... and Korea, that well know Motor racing fanatical country, yes we really should go there...... Lets go back to Canada, it was usually a great race, very unpredictable, and maybe Hammy could be another victim of "champions wall" :-)
This really hasn't been thought through has it, if the current teams could manage to get traction control past the FIA and techincal panel a few years ago with clever electroincs, then im sure it would be very easy to "fiddle" the accounts for a caped team, im sure a few years back Bernie didn't want budget teams on the grid, and has recently made it difficult for private teams to get started to buy insisting they had to make their own cars, now suddenly he want's budget teams again !!! I can see plenty of loop holes, i.e Drivers only being paid by race winnings, and or personal sponsorship, what would stop a team buying an old active Williams from 92, bolting on a big block chevy twin turbo, with nitrous, massive slicks and wings, and a big fuel tank,
I never believed Mclaren were so far off the pace, and the fact they weren't using the full 09 aero was a bit of a give away that they were confident with the pace of the new car. if the new car wasn't working propoerly, then the team would be out pounding round with the full 09 spec car getting it right. However maybe this over confidence will be there downfall, I can only hope so. The fact that Heikki has been allowed to drive the car for more than a few laps and set a decent time, shows that Hammy must think a race winner already. Arrogance breeds complacentcy, lets hope Mclaren get an **** kicking this year from all the other teams
I agree with Carl1978, it might, and only might increase overtaking if your in 2nd place, but what incentive is there to ovetake in 5th for 4th?? i guess thats Bernie and Max's arrogance that fans only watch the leading drivers, and everyone else is forgotton. I cant see what was wrong with the old points sytem, I doubt that it will increase overtaking that much, I think it is more likely to encourage drivers to take out a rival who trying to over take them, for example, say theres 4 races left , The current championship leader has 4 wins, the next guy has 2 wins, if he takes out his nearest rival, he's still got 4 wins to 2, it wont matter if they both limp home in 7th and 8th, as points dont count
Asia is only important while they keep stumping up more money than the tracks in europe, where to next Berine??a street circuit in Thailand? the locals there can't even afford a decent place to live, and have no interest in motor racing I'd rather see 2 races at Spa, Monaco, San Marino, Canada, and one at Brands and one at Silverstone, than the bore fests at Bahrain, Valencia, U.A.E and Fuji
Lets wait and see where the cars and drivers are after final qualifing before we start predicting wins for a team thats only ran its car in Testing last week. I'd love to the the Brawn and Jense up there, but somehow, can't see it happening just yet
If the Mclaren is going to be stuck in the midfield,it will be interesting to see how Hammy responds to Faster drivers lapping him, I bet he won't like that, maybe Alonso can return the favor and chop Hammy's nose of a few times during the season as he over takes him....I don't mind who wins this year as long as its not Hammy at least we might get a bit more balanced commentry if he's stuck in midfield.
Sorry Heikki, you'll always be 2nd best while Hammy is at Mclaren,, you'll have to hope HE has a bad year like Kimmi did last year before they'll let you anywhere near a championship, sit back, relax and enjoy the view of runner up.
Does anyone else think the nose cone of the new Brawn is far to low compaired to the rest of the 09 cars ???
Thank goodness he's got the message, took long enough.
Winge, winge, moan, moan, Just like he's never been away, complete the sentence in less than 10 manselism's I could have won it Murray but...........
Na lets keep the testing ban, with the state of some of the top teams in testing ( Mclaren ), we could have some real upsets this year, if your car isn't right at the start of the season, the teams will have to develope them at race weekends, that will add a lot more unpredictability, and allow the smaller teams to keep in touch, and maybe grab some decent ponits if the top teams go the wrong way by trying new parts etc, Ferrari only want to keep testing because they have a private test track and can pound around all day until they get it right, I think the races should go to the 2 hour maximum now, that would add more reliability in, and maybe allow a larger amout of differing pit stratergies..... can anyone remember missing the last 15 minutes of the final 3 races last year???? has Massa forgotton Brazil already?
Its better to have the problems now, than once the season starts, Mclaren used to always have reliability problems at the start of the year, but have been much better lately, Lets wait until a few races into the season before any conclusions can be made. If Mclaren are still using the old rear wing, there can be only one reason, they think they have found a loophole in the regulations, and dont want to let the other teams see the new rear wing, im sure if it was a case that the car isn't working or chewing up the tyres using the new rear wing, then surely they would be testing it to try and get it right.
Whats the point in going to Mclaren, you'll have to play 2nd best to Hammy if you go there
Really!?!?!?!?!?!!? what a surprise I bet nobody saw that coming.... I guess that means that the door is now closed to any Indian F1 drivers for a while, how long before Heikki is shipped of to this team when a promising young German comes along...aka Hulkenberg
Why don't they buy the Honda team and call it Acura??? then it will be American through and through...not, God speed and all that.... ohh and they could hire scott speed too, :-)
Sorry to say this, but I think its a bad idea, and just a publicity stunt, maybe a good one, because even at the back of the field the team will be mentioned for having a lady driver, but that wont last long, the novilty factor will soon wear off, and the sad thing is , ANY driver will struggle for the first year of a team, Danica wont know any of the tracks, she'll be in a new team learing all the time, and will be up against far more aggressive drivers than she has come up against in her racing life so far, if Michael Andretti couldn't make it in a Mclaren, what hope does Danica have? no matter how good she is, and if it does happen, please for goodness sake DONT PAINT THE CAR PINK!!!! like the force india team, she will be just an also ran at the pack fo the grid. Take my advise Danica, dont bother with F1 it will all end badly, and ruin the decent reputation youve got at the moment
Good luck STR, at least you'll find out the limits of your engines, Sato's bound to blow up a heathy number while testing the cars, you'll soon be dab hands at replacing front wings too, with limited testing in place are they sure he's a good choice?
Ive said it before, I can't understand why the FIA are charing the driver who are sucessful!!! can you imagine the FA charging Ronaldo an extra £1000 for every goal he scores!!!, where is all the extra money going, the FIA said its for safety, but don't the circuits have to stump up the repair / improve the safety standards????
More money for Bernie then, He'll fine Donnington for not being able to stage the race, then fleece Silverstone AGAIN to hold the GP for a year or two, while constantly slagging the circuit off, and eventually he'll remove the British GP from the calander, and we'll go to India to another souless, dusty new circuit, full of empty grandstands.....
I guess with all this cost saving, taking on Taku is a bit of a mine field, you know he's going to trash 4 engines, several front wings and a probably complete car buy the end of July, Bourdais is a much SAFER driver and wont dent the budget so much
Ive already placed £20 on Alonso, probably lost my money, but its worth a punt and im British, unfortunaltly they weren't giving odds on Hammy not to win the title
Ahh poor Bernie, won't the big boys play to your rules anymore?, grow up, no one likes the medal idea, so forget it, have anither tink over the next 57 days and come up with something better
Nidzo, thats a great idea, and how about an additional 20 points if you go a lap down, that really would make the drivers earn their money
Anybody beating Hamilton gets my vote regardless of their or my nationality, lets hope they all overtake him round the outside this year :-)
Think about the Red Bull team, their car wont be ready till February, im sure every team is in the same boat as far as development of the new car goes. the same teams and drivers will be in roughly the same place on the grid, the more things change the more thet stay the same, i really hope Nico in the Williams goes well tjhis year
I think the main point is being missed, if its the proposed increase from last year, the increase in the charge of the superlicence, depends on how sucesfull the driver is, the more points you score, the more your superlicence cost's so basically the better drivers get penalised for scoring points.... sort of negates the medal system too, and might not increase overtaking if its going to cost the driver to get past someone....
I think the Mclaren looks ok, and similar to last years car, with a bit of a hunch back, All the new cars look uglier, we'll get used to them, so far the best looking one is the williams, but I suspect thats because its a dark clolur, and the contours of the whole car, and edges of the front wing aren't so well defined. I expect the force india to be a bit of a mungrel though. Red bull seem to be spending a lot of time using the old car, seems a bit pointless, and wasting the limited testing allocations, maybe the new car is a long way off being ready
A real rags to riche's story, I admire Ron for what he has accomplished, but if he sold his stake in Mclaren to Mercedes for £200m in 2000, how come in 2006, his estimated at on £90m????
As much as I like Heikki, And I also think hes a decent driver, While Lewis is at Mclaren, you'll never be allowed to beat him, but at least youl get to drive a decent F1 car again, look on the bright side you could have been a Honda driver
The vote for the biggest, ugliest airbox has to go to the Ligier JS5, but they also made some complete horror cars , take a look at the JS19 and21, check out google images for these monsters, :-)
What happens if he gets a race seat? he will loose his test drive and be forgotton at the back of the grid, does he really think he will progress to a better team from Force India? i'd stay at Mclaren Pedro, at least youve got a decent salary, and get to drive and develop race winning car
So if Honda use a Ferrari engine, what is the team going to be called? Hondari? or Ferronda? Will Bernie make them keep the Honda name for a year and then change it? How embarrasing will it be for Honda to have an F1 car in their name using a Ferrari engine? Didn't Honda develop and make the NSX to challenge Ferrari??? Maybe they can badge it as A Fiat or Alfa Romeo :-) STR, Williams and Force india don't make road cars, so not a problem Cant see it happening
Yes I did read the article thanks Watchcam, thats why I commented on it!!!!!, they are not all Mclaren, or should I say Mclarri fans in Woking, as the guys in the photocopy shop proved, cheats are cheats, and should be treated as such, Perhaps Woking council dont want to give the wrrong impression by celebrating a cheating world champ!!!
Shouldn't lewis's be " dont cut chicane's" ?
Lets hope williams has a big enough budget to take along 3 spare front wings each race for Gadzuki
Maybe it was cancelled because the council was worried nobody would bother to turn up, or that Toyota wouldn't supply a car to get out of the way for him
Where was this survey, I didn't see it, wouldn't of veoted for eithr of this cheats
Oh come on Singapore, you must be joking, there way no was Coulthard was going to move over on Hamliton, I know that Davids had a lot accidents this year, most his fault, but can you imagine the EX Mclaren driver and ( although he scottish ) fellow brit seriously stopping Hamilton getting past??? as for Hamilton " holding his line and staying true" well he didn't have much choice, wall on 1 side, Coulthanrd on the other, he had no choice but to stay where he was and hope Couthard would give way, no way should this be in the top ten, pleas substitiute this for Rosberg on Trulli at the same race, now that was a genuine overtake for position.
Really!!!! I didn't see that coming, I can hardly recall his name being mentioned on ITV during the race weekends
Oh lets hope Ross Brawn goes to Renault, im going to put £20 on Alonso to win the championship
Lets hope Williams makes the front wings cheap then, This guy certainly went through enough of them last year, if there bigger next year god help anyone in front of Kazuki, or Gadzuki as I call him
Is Sato really the best driver unemployed at the moment??? surley there are better guys worth a chance,
All te best to Mark, Tippy is right Webbo is the unluckiest guy on the grid, he just needs some good luck and a decent top 3 result to get hin back into the right frame of mind,
Aiden, one overtake move on Alonso in a damaged mclaren doesn't make Sato great, merly at the right place at the right time, Sato was good value as you never knew when, where or who he would have an accident with, but at some point he was going off, his self belief far outstrips his ability. Ralf only stayed in F1 for so long because his surname was Schumacher, he was better when he was wild, once he calmed down he was a waste of an f1 drive,
MTG035, Yes Massa drove into Lovely Lewis at Fuji, but what goes round comes around, and Lewis had it coming, you can't expect to dish it out if you cant take it back, and Yes I know MS did the same in his years in F1, I didn't mention him, but will now, like Lewis he had a subsierviant team mate that was not allowed to race him or win unless Schumi couldn't, hence 7 times world champ, At least Scuni could win without having the best car, Hammi Hamster Lewis couldn't do better than 13th at Magny Cours in the class of the field car, at Least Schumi would have got in the points. Lewis said it himself before Magny Cours, "anyone can win from the front, but only the greats can win from the back" well said Lewis you summed yourself up nicely,
Hamilton is like Senna, hes prepaired to drive anyone who gets near him off the track to stop them from getting past...prost, suzuka, 1990 .. when Lewis has lapped the field in an inferrior car in the rain , then ill admit he's someone special, till then forget it, as mansell proved if youve got the best car, and a team mate who's not allowed to race you, its all a bit easy
Keep dreaming Taku, you might be good at pounding round a track on a teat day, but come race weekend you can't run with the big boys, Lets have some new blood or keep Bourdais, youve had your day Mr Sato
This is great news, im not a Hamilton fan, and dont believe Martin is Biased in his comentry, he did admit Hamiltons driving had been in question sometimes this year, as long as James Allen isn't going anywhere near the BBC team it can only be good news, now he really was carriny a torch for Hamilton, I think he secretly wanted his babies :-), i dont know much about Jonathan Legard, but hope its not the muppet that shouts and screams on the football commentry, now that would be seriously bad
Zmahecic, everybody is entitled to their own opinion, I personally put Giles in the same class of driver as Andrea de cesaris and Takuma Sato, on their day fast and exciting, but prone to too many unforced crash's, lets face it if De cesaris had driven the Marlboro Alfa round Zandvort with a rear wheel hanging off after spinning it into the catch fencing, he would have been slated, but becasue it was Giles it was Heroic, his never say die attitude, it just depends on your point of view, in the end Giles died a tragic death and the sport was a poorer place, but my feelings about his driving ability remain the same, Fast, exciting, but flawed,
Who is the Stig anyway? I know it used to be Perry Mcarthy, maybe it still is, but is he really the last word on who's a great driver? lets face it Ellen Mcarthur was on top of the celeb board, so maybe she should be in the 2nd Mclaren next year, probably be as quick as Heikki anyway :-)
Definatly welcome news that BBC are taking over, lets hope James Allen isn't moving and it will be a much better experence, no French GP yet, can see that lasting, lets hope they find another race track apart from Magny Cours to race at.... whY cant Canada host the French GP? They speak French over there don't they??
Sato's had his day in F1, been there crashed that, blown up numberous engines, and taken Schumi out at Spa, lets hope T/R see sence and keep Bourdais, hes a 4 times champion and knows how to win, I know everybody thinks champ cars easy, but he won convincingly, and a change back to slicks and wings may suit him better, I think he's worth keeping along side Bruno Senna the team will have a bit of continuity.
Liked the article, but have to say Hamilton deserved every penalty he received, he drove like he was on Playstation, cutting chicanes to gain an advantage, and / or pass a rival he couldn't overtake legally, he drove his competitors of the track when they gave him racing room ( massa twice in Germany, Glock and Webber at Monza, and a childish chop to Alonso also also at Monza, half the field at Fujis first corner )at Canada lets not forget the Mclaren team even told him the pit lane light was red and he still hit Kimi, Now Hamiltons world champion I dread to think of the arrogance he will bring with him on the Number 1 car next year, lets hope his ego trip causes him to drop the luck stick hes got his mits on this year
How did Hamilton get star of the race? what exactly did he do to Merit this? started 3rd, finished 5th...just, thanks to a guy on the wrong tyres, overtaken by Vettel in a T/R surley Hamilton knew that loosing that place could be the difference to winning or loosing the championship yet he wobbled around the track like a new boy,.. if anyone deserves the star of the race its got to be Vettel, and 5 overtaking moves?? who did he overtake to get these lets hope we have a less biased report next season
Why the hell would Massa go to Mclaren Watchcam? he would have to take a drop in wages, and play 2nd fiddle to Hamilton, he's better of at Ferrari beating Kimi and at least having a change of winning, so long as his team dont loose it for him again next year, lets hope Ferrari dont have a brilliant but flawed paln to replace the re-fuelling men with robots or the lollipop man with a set of lights on a ganrty..... oh they did that didn't they :-)
Was the weather bad in China this year? seemend ok to me, I think they need to move Japan away from Fuji, that such a boring race track no matter how many times they try and change the layout, why can't we go back to Suzuka? I hope they bring back Canada, it was one of those tracks that seemed to upset the form book and give unexpected results. As for boring race tracks, Bahrain must be in the top 5 Lets hope that the new regs make the cars even closer and easier to over take each other
i wonder how much of this is due to Kimi taking out Sutil at Monaco this year??
Brundle is the best thing for F1, Mosley and the rest of the FIA are a bunch of bitter old men who can't stand to be critsised, the sooner Mosley goes the better, he still cant stand the fact his F1 team, March failed and Ron Dennis made Mclaren the super team it is today.
so Hamilton¿s doesn't have the luxury of a team mate moving over for him.......errrr think back to Germany and Silverstone, Heikki nearly went off getting out of Hamilton¿s way in Germany, and was given a right **llocking by Ron for daring to race Hamilton on home turf, I suspect planet F1 really is on another planet if they think that Mclaren don't, won't and haven't used team orders, get a grip and stop looking for excuse's if wonder boy can't win it this year, he's had the best car, and a subservient team mate all year, if he doesn't win, then tough
What goes round comes around Lewis, this year you have deliberately driven your competitors off the track when they have had the A, audacity to challenge you ( massa in Germany, Webber and Glock at Monza ) or B, get in your way ( Alonso at Monza ) now at Fuji you decide to try and take out both Ferrari's and your team mate in a move similar to Senna Vs Prost at Suzuki for the title 1990. No points well deserved Lewis, your driving like a real chump now¿¿ after the moves you¿ve pulled this season, what did you expect from the people you¿ve bullied and bundled out of your way. Shut up and take a lesson from Alonso he can win in a vastly inferior car,
Dont forget it wasn't just Webber that Hamilton knocked around, he chopped Alonso on the main straight, so much that he clipped his front wheel, then put Glock on the grass, then nerfed Webber, Hamilton would be moaning now if any one of these incidents caused him to non score, Hamilton seems to think his car is indestructable
Hi agreed totally with 1c3mn, Hamilton blatently barged Webber out of the way, Hamilton gradually moved over down the straight fair enough, but at the last moment, when webber was right alongside, and in danger of making an attempt at Hamilton, he snidily jinks left and barges webber out of the way, one day Lewis Your going to come off worse and either break your suspension or ( hopefully ) flip your car over, it might knock some sence into you. wasn't it at roughly the same place at Monza where Ronnie Peterson lost his life due to this sort of driving??

seems a bit strange to loose your technical director, just as your cars are getting race victories. I wonder wich German will take his place, maybe Red Bull are getting ready to use a German engine from BMW, or are VW, Audi going to enter????
