Good point AD - with a blanket testing ban, the current points system over-rewarding consistency and the bullet-proof reliability of the modern Grand Prix car (apart from the Ferraris) every season could be like this, with half the field planning for next season from round 6 or 7 and the other half racing for this one and then losing out in the next. The order would change every year too. There's your two-tier system Max, you idiot!
I have seen this 1981 statistic bandied around a lot and I think it is bogus. 2009 is Ferrari's worst start to a season ever! In round 4 of the 1981 season at Imola, Didier Pironi scored 5th placed finish. Only good enough for 2 points in those days but I would still say better than 6th place for Raikkonen at Bahrain.
Spot on Nick. Any tips on coping without a home GP for us British fans ahead of next year? I would not be against these far-flung Grand Prix if it wasn't for the fact that they increase the going rate for events that are private concerns and need to turn a profit. A 18-20 race calendar can easily accommodate 8 or so new destinations as well as keeping the traditional European and North American rounds on the calendar. No matter what Bernie says it is his greed that is driving the traditional venues away from Formula One. There are no other factors.
I posted this on BBC and I got moderated so ill try it here instead I don't think that the FIA are inherently biased towards or against a particular team. The FIA has a very agile position and makes the decisions that best meet its short term objectives. Currently Max wants revenge on Ron Dennis for ANTSW5PG last year (For all you F1Rejects listeners out there) and Bernie wants to show that 'new' teams can come to the grid and be instantly successful on a 'small' budget. A positive story to come out of a terrible winter. It doesn't always go Ferrari's way. Remember 2003 when the changed the points system so Michael Schumacher would find it harder to win again. And in 2007 when Ferrari were too quick in Australia so they banned their flexible floor. Formula one rules changes are generally implemented in an ad hoc fashion and the results have always been manipulated off-track as well as on track. Cracked me up with the the Chelsea sex basement paragraph though AD. Keep up the good work.
Being a bit hard on Trulli aren't we Davies? I think he was very harshly treated being penalised 25s. Given that the safety car was out meant it cost him all his points. I think swapping Hamilton and Trulli would have been more sensible - especially if Hamilton moved over to let him back through. It would be nice if the race director was given the authority to clear up these matters on the spot like umpires in other sports such as Cricket or football. It would only take a few more cameras on track. With the car radios so reliable it makes no sense to keep on with the antiquated stewarding system.

Awesome call on the overtakes - or did DP get the closest? What are the quotes of the season then?
your spelling is as poor as your opinion max555
If I could contradict you there leeph - Alonso would not need to bee driving for points at this stage as he would already have won it. The sheer amount of penalties given out this year has been extraordinary and most of them have been stupid.
less than 95% - I'll take those odds - that is an overtake in 19 laps of every 20 for all the cars isn't it?
Wash your mouth out with soap Davies! Charlie Webster is without question the most incompetent anchor for a sporting show I have ever watched and would be about as welcome in the BBC team as John Watson. I have a theory that you're just worried about not having your go-to loser, Mark 'git off me Barra' Blundell to quote in this feature. My favourite Webster quotable from Italy - introducing a Bruno Senna interview: 'Lets hear what his nearest championship rival has to think.'
Damn you davies
