Grosjean's Renault hopes suffer a huge blow

Eric Boullier has poured cold water over Romain Grosjean's hopes of staying at Renault, saying he's the "least" likely of the candidates for the team's second race-seat.

Grosjean joined Renault midway through the 2009 Championship, replacing the ousted Nelson Piquet Jr. However, his time at Renault was anything but successful.

The Frenchman failed to live up to expectations, often finding himself near the back of the pack in qualifying. And when he did make it through to Q2 his race-pace soon had him dropping down the order. His best result was a P13 at the Brazilian GP.

As a result Grosjean's chances of staying at Renault are looking rather slim.

"There are several possible scenarios, one of them French," new Renault team boss Boullier told French radio station RMC, "but today, that is the scenario with perhaps the least chance of success.

"We have made progress, but are still far from being able to disclose the name."
