Martin Whitmarsh has revealed that there are still on-going tax concerns ahead of next month's inaugural Indian Grand Prix.
As F1 gears up for its first visit to India, the race has been plagued by behind the scenes politics.
The first of which was customs duty with the Central Board of Excise and Customs unwilling to grant the teams an exemption on their equipment.
This matter was resolved when race organisers, Jaypee Sports International, stated that they would foot the bill, which could be as high as £1million.
However, there is still the issue of local tax legislation, which could force teams and drivers to pay out on 1/19th of their income due to India being one of 19 races of the calendar.
"There are some concerns, and it's a concern for drivers as well as teams," said the McLaren team boss.
"It's quite a tough tax regime, but I'm certainly not competent to tell you exactly where we're at.
"But there is quite a lot of negotiation and discussion going on. I am sure we will race in India, but we need to resolve some of those issues."
