Michael Schumacher reckons he can bring home a good points-haul for Mercedes after qualifying fourth for the Italian Grand Prix.

The German has had a mixed season with Mercedes, at times showing pace and at others being sorely undone by gremlins with his W03.

And although he experienced a few of those in practice, most notable with his DRS, the seven-time World Champ was on form in Saturday's qualifying.

Schumacher posted the fifth best time, a 1:24.540, but will line up fourth on the Monza grid due to Paul di Resta's penalty.

"I think we can be satisfied with our qualifying performance as we have performed consistently all weekend," Schumacher said.

"Our car clearly suits this circuit more than at the last races, but we've had a couple of hiccups along the way in practice.

"Our guys back at the factory and here at the track did a good job to sort out the problems and compliments to them."

Looking ahead to Sunday's grand prix, a race he has won on five occasions, Schumacher reckons a good points-haul is on the cards.

"Solid points should be a realistic target for tomorrow.

"The fact that I will start from fourth is another small positive point, because here the even numbers on the grid are probably the better start positions."
