Karthikeyan given the go-ahead

Narain Karthikeyan will contest Sunday's Korean GP after the stewards gave him permission despite his failure to qualify.

The HRT driver slid and spun his way out of qualifying in the first segment before so much as putting a banker lap on the board.

As a result Karthikeyan needed permission from the stewards to race and was given it based on his 'performance shown in practice.'

Speaking about his brief showing in qualifying, he said: "We were in quite a good position after the third free practice sessions as I'd adapted very well to the circuit and the car was performing great.

"But once again I was unlucky this season and we had a mechanical issue on the first lap of qualifying. Now we must analyze the problem to fix it and avoid it from springing up again.

"Tomorrow we will try to recover those positive vibes."
