New McLaren passes crash tests

It is all systems go for McLaren ahead of the first pre-season test after their 2014 challenger passed all the mandatory crash tests.

Reports last week claimed that it was touch and go for the Woking squad when it came to taking part in the Jerez test from January 28 as their MP-29 failed to pass all the tests.

The team, who are intent on being involved in the title fight this season, refused to comment on the speculation and on Tuesday they confirmed via Twitter that the new chassis has received the green light from the FIA after being put through the mandatory crash tests.

McLaren, who are only fourth favourite with Paddy Power to win the title, will be the first team to launch their 2014 model when they take the covers off on Friday January 24 during an online screening.
