Azerbaijan reveals F1 deal

Azerbaijan will join the F1 fraternity in 2016 having signed a deal to host a race on the streets of Baku.

Rumours of a possible F1 grand prix in Baku have circulated for several months but it now appears to have become a reality.

Azad Rahimov, Azerbaijan's Minister of Youth and Sports, has revealed that his country has signed a deal with F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone.

The inaugural race will take place in 2016 and will be held on the streets of Baku.

"We have signed the deal with Bernie Ecclestone and will announce it officially with an event in Baku shortly," said Rahimov told Inside The Games.
