Renault have warned late-paying teams that they are risking their own performances if the money isn't there for development.
The French engine manufacturer, who supply Red Bull, Lotus, Toro Rosso and Caterham, revealed in Spain that some teams were late in paying.
And at a time when Renault need the finances to recover from their early-season woes, Renault Sport F1 head Jean-Michel Jalinier has warned the teams risk their own form.
"In order to develop the action plan we need to secure resources and our resources are coming from two sources," Jalinier said.
"One is Renault, and we have been able to secure the right resources, even human resources or financial resources, and the other part of it is coming from the teams because we are selling the engines to the teams.
"On this part I must say we are not at an acceptable situation, because some of the teams are just late in payments, and at the time you need to spend resources to catch up you cannot afford to have those [late] payments."
Jalinier, however, refused to name which team or teams were late.
