Grosjean: Difficult to predict Monaco

Romain Grosjean says he is unsure of how Lotus will perform this weekend in Monaco as low speed corners are not the E22's strong point.

The Frenchman finally got on the board last time out in Spain when he brought his Lotus home in eighth place.

His four points were also the team's first of the Championship in what has been a torrid start to the season for the Enstone team.

But whether he can add to his tally in Monaco remains to be seen as Grosjean concedes that not only is it not an easy circuit for a driver but it also does not suit his E22.

"It's an exciting and glamorous grand prix and always a step into the unknown, because it's difficult to predict how well each car will work there," the 26-year-old said of the street race.

"As a driver you have to stay calm and relaxed on a track that doesn't allow for any mistakes. I've been super quick in the past, but also hit the walls!"

This season hitting those walls will be even more of a problem than in the past as drivers cope with the increased torque created by the new regulations.

Grosjean added: "There will be less grip than in the past, so we will have to be careful with the right foot.

"The emphasis at Monaco is on low speed corners, which is not our greatest strength, but the team worked with Monaco in mind during the Barcelona test.

"We'll do our best with set-up and of course Monaco is less engine dependent than most circuits, which is better for us.

"It was nice not only to score points in Barcelona, but also to be fifth on the grid in qualifying - if we can do that again in Monaco it'll be very good for us..."
