No Magny-Cours return on the horizon

Bernie Ecclestone has dismissed suggestions that the French Grand Prix will return to the Formula One calendar next year.

Some reports surfaced earlier this month suggested the management team in charge of Magny-Cours was putting together a proposal for getting back into Formula One, but during last week's Monaco Grand Prix, Ecclestone confirmed that the French track wasn't on the list of contenders for next year.

"No," Ecclestone confirmed.

"They are knocking on the door, but I don't think we can do that."

Instead, Ecclestone confirmed that the inaugural Azerbaijan Grand Prix will take place on a street circuit in Baku next year.

"Yes, it is all done," he added.

"It will happen next year."

While the exact layout of the Baku track remains unknown, Autosport reports that the main start-finish straight that was used in a couple of sports car races recently will form part of the final outline.
