'Red Bull frustrations understandable'

Renault insist they are "completely committed" to resolving their issues in the wake of a barrage of criticism from Red Bull's Christian Horner.

Sebastian Vettel failed to see the chequered flag in Sunday's Austrian Grand Prix after an engine problem dropped him a lap behind the race leaders early in the race.

Added to that, his team-mate Daniel Ricciardo did not have the grunt needed to challenge at the front and finished the team's home grand prix in a disappointing eighth place.

Team boss Horner was furious with the outcome and said Renault's reliability and performance are "unacceptable".

And the French engine manufacturer agrees.

Renault's deputy technical managing director Rob White said: "We share Christian's ambition.

"Therefore, the anxiety and frustration Christian felt after a result that is not at the full potential of the performance of car and power unit is completely understandable and also shared by us.

"But we are completely committed to making progress as fast as we can, and I think we have shown signs of progress before now and we remain sure of where the expectations of Red Bull and Christian lie.

"We know what is expected of us and individually and collectively we must buckle down in the right direction."
