Good morning's work for Wolff

Good morning's work for Wolff

Susie Wolff must've thought "oh no, not again" during the first few minutes of FP1 in Germany, but the morning turned out to be a decent one for her.

The Williams test driver lasted only a handful of laps at her previous outing at Silverstone and she was slow out of the blocks at Hockenheim on Friday morning as well and found herself limping around the track on her first lap.

However, this time it was only a software glitch and the problem was fixed by the Williams mechanics, allowing her to return to the circuit.

She went on to complete 22 laps and her time of 1:20.769 was the 15th best of the morning and only two tenths of a second slower than that of her team-mate Felipe Massa.

"First of all I did more than one lap, so that was fantastic," Wolff told Sky Sports News after the session.

"I had a little bit of a worry at the beginning to get back to the pits when we had the problem, but as soon as I made it back and they said they could fix it I thought 'thank goodness'. Then it was just a case of going for it.

"In the first run it was about building up pace, the second one again about new tyres, and the third one was just doing a bit of aerodynamical work.

"It felt really fantastic. It felt really, really fantastic. The team did such a good job of getting me ready for today and it just felt so good to be out there and pushing and to finally do a proper session."

Williams deputy team principal Claire Williams also heaped praise on Wolff.

"She did a great job today," Williams said. "She had a full session, which was important after Silverstone that was so disappointing for her. It was great to see her out on track, clocking up a number of laps and also some competitive times as well.

"She was working through a comprehensive mechanical testing programme, so we're really, really happy, she did a good job for us. She was within three tenths of Felipe and that's what we were expecting."
