Maldonado, Alguersuari hit with penalties

Pastor Maldonado and Jaime Alguersuari have been hit with post-race penalties for ignoring blue flags in Abu Dhabi, but the punishment doesn't affect their positions.

The Williams and Toro Rosso drivers were battling for P14 when they got dragged into Mark Webber and Felipe Massa's scrap over P4. They were ordered to appear before the stewards after the race to explain why they failed to let the two through.

After careful consideration, the stewards opted to give Alguersuari a drive-through penalty, but 20 seconds were instead added to his time as it happened after the race. Thirty seconds were added to Maldonado's time after he was handed a stop-go penalty for the same offence.

Maldonado finished 14th and Alguersuari a spot behind, but the penalties did not change their positions.
