Senna 'honoured' to receive award

Bruno Senna hopes to follow in the footsteps of some of Formula One biggest names after being awarded the Lorenzo Bandini Trophy.

The Brazilian received the award - which is annually given to an outstanding figure from the world of motor racing - during a presentation in Brisighella near Bologna on Sunday.

The prize is awarded in memory of Italian driver Lorenzo Bandini who died in the 1967 Monaco GP and Senna - the 19th recipient - joins the likes of Michael Schumacher, Felipe Massa, Mark Webber, Fernando Alonso, Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel on the list of F1 drivers to receive it.

"The event was a great success with many of my Italian fan club also coming along which was great to see. The town really came alive," he said.

"I have to thank everyone at Trofeo Lorenzo Bandini and all the people involved in organising the event.

"It's a huge honour to be chosen to receive such a prestigious award. I've seen some of the names who have won this in the past and what they have gone on to achieve in their careers, so let's hope this is just the start of greater things for me too.

"I'm really happy I was able to be here to see it all come together and thank you again to everyone for letting me be a part of this special event."
