E20 set for 'significant' changes

Lotus fans shouldn't get too used to the E20 they see during testing as the car will undergo "significant" changes ahead of the season-opening Australian Grand Prix.

The E20 made an impressive to the 2012 testing season in Jerez with Kimi Raikkonen grabbing the headlines on day one by topping the timesheets and team-mate Romain Grosjean posting the fastest time of the new cars on the third day.

However, the car that is taking part in testing won't be the same one that starts the first race of the season, according to the team's technical director James Allison.

"The car we take to Melbourne will be significantly different to the one we ran in Jerez," he told the official Lotus website.

"There's a lot of work still to do before the season opener, and so many elements will change; the front wing, rear wing, side pods, pod vanes, engine cover, barge board, floor, some suspension elements, and some small brake duct features to name but a few! As always, it's going to be a very busy few weeks."
