Human rights groups has urged Formula One teams and drivers to boycott the Bahrain GP, saying the situation is not back to "normal".
Although last year's Bahrain GP was cancelled amidst political unrest within the island kingdom, the grand prix is back on the calendar this season.
However, human rights groups insist that nothing has changed since F1 made the decision not to race.
"We will campaign for drivers and teams to boycott," Nabeel Rajab, vice president of the Bahrain Center for Human Rights, told The Guardian.
"The government wants Formula One to tell the outside world that everything is back to normal.
"Formula One, if they come, they are helping the government to say (it is normal). We would prefer it if they didn't take part. I am sure the drivers and teams respect human rights."
The 2012 Bahrain GP is scheduled to take place on 22nd April.
