Hamilton: Not happy but that's life

An unhappy Lewis Hamilton is eager to make it up to his British fans after a disappointing showing in Saturday's qualifying at Silverstone.

Following Friday's second practice, in which Hamilton was quickest in the pouring rain, there was a great deal of expectation amongst the British fans who had flocked to the rain-soaked circuit.

However, it was not to be.

As the rain came bucketing down midway through Q2, the FIA decided to red-flag the session resulting in an hour-and-a-half-long rain delay.

Once under, Hamilton booked his place in the final pole position shoot-out, the only British driver to do so.

The McLaren driver, though, was not able to make it count and qualified down in eighth place, 1.797s adrift of the pole position time.

"I am not happy. Eighth is not the best position but that is life," he told the BBC.

"I struggled a lot and could not get temperature into the tyres for some reason.

"I also had no grip and we were skidding all over the place.

"We will try and understand why and fix it for tomorrow.

"The fans have been great, they have been very patient and were so supportive.

"Unfortunately we did not get the front row but we can still push through tomorrow."
