Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko says Ferrari's tactics at the Spanish Grand Prix raised a few eyebrows at Milton Keynes, claiming the Italian team may be spying on them.
Mark Webber and Fernando Alonso were involved in a tense battle for fourth place at Barcelona, but the Red Bull driver ultimately came out tops after his team outfoxed Ferrari during one of their pit stops.
Ferrari were able to cover two of Webber's four pit stops on Sunday by calling Alonso in at the same time as the Australian. The two went nose-to-nose in the pit lane on one occasion after they were released at the same time.
However, Red Bull then decided to change their tactics and delayed Webber's final stop after throwing a "dummy".
Team principal Christian Horner touched on the issue after the race, saying: "Unfortunately for Mark, he spent the first half looking at Alonso's exhaust and to get him ahead in the end we did a dummy which they fell for. Otherwise it was frustrating for Mark and the complete result would be to have him right up there as well."
Marko has now gone a step further by questioning why Ferrari were able to cover Webber's stops.
"We have noticed that Ferrari are doing some kind of espionage," he told Germany's RTL.
"We called Mark Webber into the pits relatively late for his first stop and yet Ferrari managed to bring Alonso into the pits [at the same time]. They have thus responded to us."
