Hellmund sues US GP investors

In yet another twist to the United States GP saga, Tavo Hellmund is suing his former partners.

Hellmund, once the promoter behind the race in Austin, Texas, has filed a suit in an Ausin court against track investors Bobby Epstein and Red McCombs and other companies and managers involved in the project.

The civil suit relates to Hellmund's belief that the initial contract with Bernie Ecclestone, in which Hellmund was involved, was cancelled after investors withheld promised funding.

And although the suit did not specify damages, it did state that Hellmund had not been paid for his role as head of the project since September 2011 and had lost his $500,000 a year salary for being chairman of the US GP.

The Statesman quotes the lawsuit as stating: "With the relief requested herein - namely, access to the Company's books and records and declaration that he cannot be removed as a manager - Hellmund hopes to steer the now-teetering Circuit back on track and determine how best to proceed, if at all, to acquire Epstein's remaining interest in the company."
