Prac Three: Hamilton overhauls Webber

Lewis Hamilton must be feeling better about McLaren's pace after ending Mark Webber's run in Saturday's final practice.

Webber was the dominant force in Friday's two practices although McLaren weren't far behind with first Hamilton and then Jenson Button taking second place.

However, Saturday's Practice Three saw a change in fortune as Hamilton overhauled Webber, taking the P1 slot with a 1:36.340. The Red Bull driver was 0.290s off the pace while Button was third, a further 0.132s behind.

Nick Heidfeld came back from Friday's issues to take fourth place ahead of Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso. Vitaly Petrov and Felipe Massa completed the top eight.

Report: The drivers ventured out at the start of final practice with clouds overhead, the track temperature sitting at 37'C and humidity at 83 percent. It took over 15 minutes before the drivers started putting in the serious miles on their hard tyres with Vitaly Petrov taking the early lead with a 1:39.884.

The McLarens, though, soon came to the fore with Lewis Hamilton leading Jenson Button with a 1:38.960 while Sebastian Vettel could only manage fourth place on his first flying lap. Great start for Nick Heidfeld, whose Renault team had some serious issues on Friday, as he took second place, dividing the McLaren drivers.

A rather uneventful first half of the session ended with Hamilton on top, followed by Heidfled, Button, Petrov, Vettel, Fernando Alonso, Pastor Maldonado and Sergio Perez.

Paul di Resta briefly brought out the yellow flags when he spun at Turn 15. The Force India rookie was able to continue. Ferrari found some pace as Felipe Masas went quickest on the prime tyres with a 1:38.926 while Alonso took third. Button was the next to lead the way, a 1:38.464 for the McLaren driver. Moments later, Jaime Alguersuari took an impressive second place.

Button's reign was short-lived as Vettel posted a 1:38.213. The second Toro Rosso of Sebastien Buemi moved up to third place before he was dropped as Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg took second and third, just over two-tenths slower than Vettel. Alonso overhauled Vettel, putting in three purple sector times on his way to a 1:37.284. Massa followed his team-mate up the order before Button returned to the front only to lose out to Hamilton.

The session ended with Hamilton on top, followed by Webber and Button.
