Super Aguri's chief designer is optimistic that the team could claim its first ever F1 points at this weekend's Spanish GP.
Super Aguri joined the other 10 teams in Barcelona last week, where the Japanese outfit introduced a host of new aerodynamic upgrades, including a revised floor and new rear wing package.
And the changes looked to be a step in the right direction with Takuma Sato and Anthony Davidson finishing in the top eight on their three days of testing, including a P2 for Sato on the opening day.
"In true SAF1 Team style we bit off more than we should have done," chief designer Peter McCool said.
"We have introduced a new carbon gearbox and a comprehensive aero package that includes a revised floor, a new chicken, chimney, T-wing and a whole new rear wing package."
The team's improved pace and reliability has even led McCool to predict that Super Aguri could finish in the points at this weekend's Spanish GP.
"Our goal this year is to score points," he said. "It would be great if we managed to achieve that this weekend."
