The Hungarian stewards are investigating Fernando Alonso following a hold-up in the pits during Saturday's qualifying.
With only a few minutes to go before the end of qualifying Lewis Hamilton was at the top of the timesheets and looking good for pole position. However, the McLaren rookie's thunder was stolen by his team-mate in the strangest of circumstances.
Both McLaren drivers pitted for fresh rubber with Alonso stopping ahead of Hamilton. But once his stop was completed and he was waved on by his mechanics the Spaniard remained in the McLaren pitbox for almost ten seconds.
His delay meant that although he was able to get in another flying lap and move to the top of the timesheets, Hamilton, who pitted next, ran out of time and was unable to counter-attack.
It was announced after qualifying that the Hungaroring race stewards would investigate the incident.
