Mercedes GP have reportedly offered Robert Kubica a three-year deal as they look to replace Michael Schumacher for next year's Championship.
According to a report on an Italian website, Omnicorse.it, a member of Mercedes GP visited Kubica in the Valencia paddock on Friday morning, making the team's offer known to the Polish driver.
The team is believed to have offered the Renault driver a three-year deal with a substantial salary and an option for a further two years.
This news comes on the back of Schumacher's worst race of his comeback season, a P11 in Canada, which earned the seven-time World Champion wide-spread condemnation from all quarters - excluding Mercedes GP.
In fact the team made a point of backing Schumacher with CEO Nick Fry insisting that they are happy with the German.
"We're very comfortable with Michael's performance, and I can't see any reason why he won't come good," said Fry. "He continues to improve, and he is going make a good job of it."
