'Merc not seeking complete domination'

Although Mercedes are enjoying a purple patch at present, Niki Lauda says they are not looking to win "all the races" as that's not good for the sport.

Mercedes have dominated the start of the 1.6-litre turbocharged V6 era.

Claiming all four pole positions and the race victories, Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton are first and second in the Championship.

Rosberg has a four-point advantage over his team-mate, who is 34 ahead of Fernando Alonso, while Mercedes are 97 ahead of Red Bull in the Constructors' Championship.

It is an impressive streak from the team, however, non-executive chairman Lauda insists they are not seeking complete domination.

"We do not want to win all the races," the Austrian told Blick. "Such records don't do Formula 1 any good.

"What we want is to build a solid base for the next few years.

"What we are experiencing currently, is the harvest of many months of work. Especially in the area of the turbo engine."

The triple World Champion added: "Four wins in a row and strong drivers - this is a great performance. But w e do not think the current situation is normal as our opponents will certainly be getting stronger."
