Suzuki takes a swipe at Fry

Tuesday 6th May 2008

Super Aguri team boss Aguri Suzuki couldn't help but take a parting shot at Honda F1 team principal Nick Fry after announcing that the team are pulling out of Formula One.

Super Aguri withdrew from the sport on Tuesday after failing to negotiate a last-minute deal with the Wiegl Group.

Fry angered both Super Aguri and Wiegl CEO Franz Josef Weigl after saying he is sceptical that the proposed deal will keep the team on the F1 grid.

Suzuki thanked Honda tyre partners Bridgestone for their support, but hit back at Fry.

"I don't understand how suddenly Nick Fry needs to be commenting on everything," said Suzuki.

"Honda were our backers and he's not the CEO of Honda. I have no interest in Nick Fry whatsoever and have no idea what he was talking about."

Suzuki also paid tribute to the team's drivers Anthony Davidson and Takuma Sato who are now without race seats.

"The drivers have been fantastic," he added.

"When we started the cars wouldn't even go in a straight line but Takuma never once complained. The drivers have always been so positive."
