Anthony Davidson is confident he will line-up on the Australian GP grid with the Super Aguri outfit come March 16th.
Both Davidson and Super Aguri's futures have yet to be secured as the latter is battling to find the funds to compete in this year's Championship.
In recent weeks the Japanese outfit has been linked to an investment package from an unidentified Russian consortium as well as a buyout from an Indian consortium, led by the Spice Group telecom company.
The lack of financial security has led to a delay in the re-signing of both Davidson and his team-mate Takuma Sato. The Brit, though, isn't too fazed about the delay, optimistic that he will race for Super Aguri this season.
"I'm confident, yes," he told Autosport.
Davidson also took part in his first day of testing in over two months at Jerez on Thursday, where he completed 103 laps with a best time of 1:21.010.
It was a welcome return to the cockpit for the Brit.
"It's my first time back in the car after two months so it was tough, but very good fun," he said. "It's very good to be back.
"The team had a successful three-day's running, they've done about 100 laps each day so they are pretty pleased with what they've done. We've made a lot of progress."
"I've been training really a lot over the winter. I'm probably the fittest I've ever been and I arrived here and did 103 laps and I feel fine. So I'm really happy with what I've been doing.
"I'm kind of missing it even though I'm here. In the winter I felt more like an athlete than a Formula One driver."
