Still no word on Aguri's future

Thursday 1st May 2008

The future of the Super Aguri F1 team remains uncertain after Wednesday's meeting with Honda failed to produce a resolution.

Super Aguri's future hit the headlines two weeks ago when talks with the Magma Group collapsed, leaving the outfit on a the brink of dropping out of F1.

But thanks to Honda, who provide Aguri with engines and technical support, Takuma Sato and Anthony Davidson were able to compete in last weekend's Spanish GP.

However, as Honda later making it clear that they would no longer help fund Aguri, the team's hopes of continuing in F1 rested on this week's meeting with Honda's big bosses.

But according to reports Super Aguri will have to wait another week to learn their fate.

Reuters claims that Wednesday's talks 'proved inconclusive,' adding that 'talks were continuing and that founder and principal Aguri Suzuki would meet the full Honda board in Tokyo early next week after some members were absent due to national Golden Week holidays.'

In the meantime, though, Sato and Davidson are continuing as if it's business as usual and that both drivers will be racing next weekend in Turkey.

"We are working on the basis that we're racing in Turkey," Sato's manager Andrew Gilbert-Scott said "We've got all the flights booked and arrangements in place."
