Nakajima hopeful of staying with Williams

Friday 5th September 2008

Kazuki Nakajima is hopeful of staying on at Williams next season, conceding it is probably his only option of a F1 race-seat.

The Japanese driver competed in his first race for Williams at last year's Brazilian GP when he replaced the retiring Alex Wurz.

Although marred by a pit lane incident that put a mechanic in hospital, Nakajima impressed the Williams bosses with his pace, earning him a full-time race-seat for the 2008 season.

However, he's failed to live up the promise shown so far this season, bagging just eight points in what is proving to be another trying season for Williams.

The Japanese driver, though, is nonetheless hopeful of landing a new deal with Williams for next season.

"I really hope to stay at Williams," he said. "That would be my best choice, I think. I don't think there are many other choices. We will have to wait for the team's decision."
