Rosberg: For once it went our way

Sunday 28th September 2008

Nico Rosberg concedes he thought any chance he had of a strong show in Singapore was undone when he got caught out by the Safety Car.

Rosberg was one of two drivers, the other being BMW's Robert Kubica, who was forced to pit when the pit lane was still closed after the Safety Car came out or risk running out of fuel.

The result was that Rosberg was handed a ten-second stop-go penalty, however, the delay in investigating the incident meant that the Williams driver, who was leading at the time, was able to pull out a gap over his rivals.

This allowed him to remain near the front of the pack after taking his penalty and he went on to finish the grand prix in second place behind Fernando Alonso.

"When I had to come in, I saw the Safety Car out," explained Rosberg. "The crew said 'come in this lap'

"I was really annoyed as I thought that was it, the end of it.

"But then I saw I was able to pull a gap afterwards even after the stop."

And having survived that penalty, Rosberg admitted: "Everything went our way which is great for me and the team."

"lets just remember why rosberg was able to get such a good lead before his stop and go.. fisi deservs a beer as his defensive driving stoped any threat from facing nico.. dnt get me wrong, i am the world biggest williams fan, and i swear the tension and excitment of seeing him blast those 9 fast laps out befor pittin for his penalty almost gave me a migrain..

the bad news is the development of the fw30 has compleetly stopped, and it will be highly unlikly we will see either car 8 or 9 often in the points.. bring on 09 and get williams back to the front where they deserve to be!!"

"Got to love the way that the stewards waited ten laps to hand out a certain penalty - again they're trying to spice things up allowing the Williams driver enough to build a lead before the penalty kicks in..... Great to see Williams with a result however!"
