Honda admit an interest in Heidfeld

Honda could opt to sign Nick Heidfeld should the German find himself without a BMW drive for next season.

According to reports BMW are dissatisfied with Heidfeld's results this season as the German have often lagged by his lesser-experienced team-mate Robert Kubica.

As a result the team is rumoured to be looking for a replacment with Fernando Alonso being touted as their number one target.

However, Heidfeld needn't worry about being without a race-seat for next season, as Honda team boss Nick Fry has admitted an interest in signing the German.

"I have already spoken to him (Heidfeld) - and it was more than just a 'hello,'" he told spox.com

Should Heidfeld sign with Honda it will most probably be as Rubens Barrichello's replacement as the team is expected to hold onto Jenson Button.

"Keeping Button over Rubens ?!? Insane, but I am not sure Heidfeld is much better, he require being pushed like Fisi, where as Kubica, Hamilton, Masa, Alonso and I must say Vettel seem to have an internal drive, like a sled dog, they pull all the time. "

"Nick is a great driver but he has suffered because RC has been very aggresssive. I'd hate to see him go to Honda aand dissappear like JB. I don't see a miracle coming from Ross Brown and I am losing respect for him. A few months ago he confirmened JB and RB for 09. He desereves Brat boy Alonso who he wants sooo badly. I can figure it out. BTW RK does have a 3 day growth thing."
