Special livery for DC's final F1 race

Thursday 30th October 2008

Red Bull's David Coulthard will be sporting a special white livery when he competes in his final F1 grand prix as he helps to raise money for the Wings For Life charity.

Coulthard is bringing to an end his 246-race Formula One in Brazil on Sunday and his dedicating it to the charity which raises funds for research into spinal cord injuries.

"I'm dedicating my last race to the vision of making paraplegia curable," said Coulthard.

"In Formula One success is determined by a few seconds, in medicine people think in terms of years.

"But in both disciplines, ambition and commitment are crucial factors that are needed in order to reach the finishing line as soon as possible.

"Wings for Life helps to accelerate the breakthrough in spinal cord research."

"to "steve1471" you're an idiot to compare him with schumi- at least michael could still drive & win championships when he got older. coulthard hasn't won a race in so many years i have forgotten. & i'm scotish by decent, not british, but choose to live in australia"

"oh btw senna1.... if Coulthard was always such a mid-pack racer then how come he had 4 3rd places in his first 7yrs, thats 3rd place in the driver championships. it's only been the last few years he's been out of the top 10 and that's been usually a result of the car under him, and not the driver. He finished 2nd in 2001, and it was only shortly after that he dropped down the field, but then that was when McLaren had a down year in terms of performance, and then the guy joined Red Bull.... so again i ask how does that make him a mid-pack racer throughout his career?"

"Senna1, you don't get bad drivers in F1, apart from a few rich brats in the past who bought their seats, although I'm not sure that happens now. These drivers are at the pinnacle of motor racing. They're all winners in past series and DC's been a winner in this one. It's time for him to retire though, but then he had the wisdom to see that himself..."
