Giedo van der Garde enjoyed his return to the F1 paddock on Monday when he tested with Renault at the Barcelona circuit.
The former Spyker test driver put in his first laps in a F1 car in more than a year when he lapped the Circuit de Catalunya, finishing second lap of the 17 drivers.
However, it was an afternoon spent adapting to the R28 while the real work will be done on Tuesday.
"It was a great day. The last time I was in a Formula 1 car was over a year ago, so I had to get used to the speed of the car again," said the Dutchman.
"We improved every time we went out, working on getting a better set-up and hopefully we can continue like this tomorrow morning.
"It's been nice to work with the team - they are a good bunch of people and I'm really enjoying the experience."

"I hope that Renault doesn't get caught up in a lawsuit with Force India/Spyker and Honda over the driver contract by letting Giedo test!!!"
