De la Rosa in action with Force India

Tuesday 18th November 2008

Pedro de la Rosa is spending Tuesday and Wednesday testing for Force India at Barcelona as rumours of the Spaniard's pending signing gather momentum.

Although Force India have both Giancarlo Fisichella and Adrian Sutil on the books, the team is believed to be set to drop one of them to make way for McLaren test driver de la Rosa as part of the team's deal with the Woking outfit.

Earlier this month Force India agreed a technical support deal with McLaren that will see the Championship-winning team providing the backmarker outfit with engines, gearboxes and the new KERS system.

However, in return Force India team boss Vijay Mallya conceded that McLaren may play a role in the final decision regarding his 2009 driver line-up.

And that looks to be the case after de la Rosa climbed into the cockpit of Force India's 2009 car.

"Force India should be changed to McLaren "B". McLaren is just a 4-car team now."

"TGovender, are you of this planet? How on earth can this deal be underhanded when it is so public? As for the Glock comment, another sad conspiracy theorist?"

"The force india wont be a customer car. They're getting help from McLaren for car developement, not just getting the work from McLaren. They're buying support like how other F1 teams have support from consultants on a lot of their work. "
