Senna pleased with first test

Thursday 20th November 2008

The Senna name returned to F1 this week as Bruno Senna - nephew of the late Ayrton - completed his first testing session with Honda at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona.

On the whole it was a successful day out for Senna as he looked to establish base-settings for the car and get a few tyre runs under his belt.

"Today has been a really good day and I'm very pleased. I've become a lot more comfortable and confident in the car and I think that showed in the lap time, both in the actual time and also the consistency," said Senna.

"We found some good set-ups and we were able to make a lot of progress through the day."

The 25-year-old Brazilian is hoping to secure a spot with Honda alongside Jenson Button for next years' season.

"Whether what I did today is good enough is for the team to decide now and I respect that," said the Brazilian.

"But for me personally, for my first time in a Formula One car, I have to be happy with what I achieved today.

"Driving a Formula One car is a very special feeling and it is very easy to know why it is the pinnacle of motorsport.

"It's very different to anything else you can drive and I just wanted to go faster and faster. Aside from the hard work and focus here this week I have really enjoyed myself.

"The Honda team are very professional and I am proud to have spent the time with them during this very special week for me."

"All we need now is a mansell name in the mix and were back to the good old days."

"a years testing is about right, how do you have the balls to drop rubens, whilst i as a brit was suprised they opted for jense, jense will never ever be wdc, will be lucky to get any further podiums, and has moaned far to much this season, but if bruno is anything like the mighty man himself then yeah i think F1 is in for some wonderous days"

"Don't forget though Ayrton was neck and neck with Brundle through F3, it was once he hit F1 that he really took off. Pantano was always quick in the lower formulae but had his F1 chance and did nothing. Form in one series is no guarantee of form in another"
