Ferrari impressed by Italian trio

Thursday 27th November 2008

Three Italian Formula 3 drivers got behind the Ferrari F2008 at Fiorano on Wednesday as part of their prize for their results in the Italian Championship.

Mirko Bortolotti, Edoardo Piscopo and Salvatore Cicatelli all put the 2008 Ferrari F1 car through its pace at the team's track with Bortolotti topping the timesheets with a 59.111.

Piscopo was second with a 1:00.336 while Cicatelli, who is just 18 years of age, was third with a 1:01.243.

The trio's lap times both "astonished and surprised" Ferrari's sporting director Luca Baldiserri.

"These boys have astonished and surprised me," he told the Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper.

"The extraordinary thing is that they didn't make even one mistake, they were immediately very quick and showed they have enormous potential.

"It's nice to hear comments and impressions from boys without prejudice yet."

"Bortolotti smashed the fiorano lap record!!! but the key thing now is the laptimes consistancy.. if Luca Baldissari is saying he was suprised at the speed of the guys, then surely their laptimes would be consistant.

And to jump straight into an f1 car with all that POWER and to be able to control all those italian horses in the back of that ferrari on your first day - WOW! that is talent.. and no TC too.. Hats off boys.. lets see what Bortolotti does to lewser hamilton when he gets in f1 hee hee"
