BMW team boss Mario Theissen admits he is "proud" of what his team achieved during the 2008 Championship.
This past year was a bumper one for the German outfit, who not only achieved their first victory but did so in emphatic style with a 1-2 finish at the Canadian GP.
The victory also put Robert Kubica in the lead of the Drivers' standings, with the Pole staying in the fight right up until the penultimate grand prix of the season.
He eventually finished the Championship in fourth place while team-mate Nick Heidfeld also ranked in the top six. The duo's points saw BMW finish in a solid third place in the Constructors' battle, just 16 points behind McLaren.
"We're proud that we achieved our goals once again in the third year of our Formula One team," Theissen said this weekend during the team's end-of-year party and Sports Trophy presentation.
"We were aiming to record our maiden victory, and we did so with a 1-2. Plus, we collected our first pole position and two fastest race laps."

"BMW will be a strong force next year that is for sure. I think the they will end up being considered a first tier team along with the heavy hitters. all they really need is more consistency from Nick and Robert"

"A one and two finish at Canada didn't show the real pace of their cars. Dr. M, I know it still is an "IF", but IF Lewis and Kimi were still in the running, either of your two drivers' best finish would be third. It was just pure coincidence or luck. It speaks the same of Heiki when he won because Massa's engine exploded. On races where no explosions and crashes happen, BMW's are nowhere near either the Ferraris and Mclarens in terms of overall pace. Yes, they had a couple of front grid positions after qualifying, but look where they end up in the end. Again, is basically the same with Heiki, great qualifier, poor finisher. And I'm a Mclaren fan. "Mario Theissen has got good reason to be proud of his boys... they've done a good job this year and the team has done wonders in the 3yrs since they changed from Sauber and considering how well Sauber did with year-old Ferrari engines things could only have gotten better. "
