Glock: Another chance to fight at the front

Monday 6th July 2009

Timo Glock is hoping to have the chance to fight at the front of the pack when he heads home to Germany this weekend.

The Toyota driver has had a mixed season to date, amassing 13 points, the bulk of which he scored in the opening four races. However, the following four weren't too kind on him as Toyota suffered a minor slump in form.

The German is determined to return to the front of the pack starting at his home race at the Nurburgring, a track that holds special memories for Glock.

"This is my home track and it will be the first time I have raced a Formula 1 car there so I am really excited," he said.

"Obviously the modern Nürburgring is nothing like the old Nordschleife, which is just an incredible circuit. I drove a Toyota Auris around it recently and it's so much fun but completely different from a modern Formula 1 circuit.

"I enjoy the modern Nürburgring and it is a track I am really familiar with after growing up in German racing. In fact, the first Formula 1 race I attended was at the Nürburgring in 2000 when I was competing in one of the support races so it will be a special feeling for me this weekend.

"It's surprising we are already at the halfway point of the season - it has gone so quickly. I've had some good races so far and it has been nice to be battling at the front quite often. This weekend is another chance to do that and I can't wait."

"Hey he did a great job in Brazil, just cause in very wet condititions he'd lost all grip from his slicks so failed to hold back hamilton doesn't detract from the fact he had a good race. It's called a gamble, if he hadn't taken the gamble he'd of been behind hamilton anyway as he was seventh when everyone else came in. I assume you are a massa fan with that kind of bias so maybe you should grow up and shut yours."

"gr8fulferari, I'm sure you would have done a much better job driving a Formula 1 car on dry tyres up a steep hill during a torrential down pour."

"YO Timo, How about Brazil 2008? After that show of your driving prowess, maybe you should just shut your pie-hole."
