Robert Kubica's Sicilian Rally Taormina-Messina came to an early conclusion after he crashed out on Saturday morning having previously been in the lead of his class.
The Polish driver, who is off to Renault next season, was competing in a DP Motorsports Renault Clio R3 and took the lead in his class on Friday.
At the end of the short opening day, Kubica had a five-tenths of a second lead over local driver Paul Wise.
However, his rally came to an end on Saturday morning when he crashed into a wall on SS3, damaging the right-hand front corner of his Renault.
Kubica's next outing in rallying will take place on November 27th when he tackles the French Championship Rallye de Var in the same Renault Clio R3.
