McLaren's decision to sign Jenson Button as Lewis Hamilton's team-mate could be the best commercial move they have ever made, according to those in the know.
While Button's move to McLaren hands the Woking outfit a phenominal line-up of British talent in Formula One's two most recent World Champions, it could also see the team bag numerous British sponsors.
"This news offers brands the opportunity to embrace two of the finest drivers of a generation," Steve Madincea, an expert on Formula One sponsorship, told The Independent.
"There will be a lot of British brands now beating a path to this extremely attractive sponsorship package. Both drivers are articulate, professional and loved by all demographic profiles.
"By signing Button to partner Hamilton, McLaren have secured the front row of the 2010 F1 marketing grid."

"The F1 I know says that McLaren will be close, but not close enough next year. Red Bull have retained their stability, and will be very competitive. Ferrari have the most in demand driver on the grid, and who is a bit special when he turns it on. And Brawn will, in all probability, be the car package to beat in 2010. And I am sure some of the others will pick up some surprising results. They always do. They are right. It is a great marketing move, but history says that they will not win. Ross Brawn has been the biggest influencing factor for the WDC since 1994. He has the bit between his teeth right now, and he is wiser. I think Brawn will win next year, on paper at least. Until testing!!!! "
