The Toyota Formula One bid farewell to its fans and the sport at the Fuji Speedway on Sunday.
Toyota announced in the wake of the season-ending Abu Dhabi GP their immediate withdrawal from Formula One, citing the "current severe economic realities" as the reason.
The Japanese manufacturer, though, gave fans a last chance to bid farewell to the F1 team when they put two 2009 F1 cars through their paces at Fuji Speedway on Sunday to great applause.
Toyota President Akio Toyoda also took the time to thank the Formula One team's fans, adding: "We are sorry that we could not meet your expectations."

"Do you remember the heady days of the Fota New Series with Toyota's manager leading the pack ? How many of you were supporters I wonder ? In just a very few months Flavio is out and now Luca has bunked off. Did you have no inkling at all where you were all heading ? In one of my posts at the time, I likened your blind faith as it has turned out to be to the Pied Piper leading you all over the edge to oblivion, which is exactly where FOTA has ended up ! "

"Bid farewell to their fans? Probably managed to fit them all into a Prius, with a seat or two spare."
