FOTA accept Lotus and Manor

Friday 27th November 2009

Formula One newcomers Lotus F1 and Manor GP have had their membership applications for the Formula One Teams' Association approved, according to reports.

Lotus F1 and Manor GP are two of the new teams that will line-up on the grid next season, the others being USF1 and Campos Meta.

But while USF1 and Campos had already been accepted by FOTA, Lotus and Manor's applications were just one of the topics up for discussion at a FOTA executive committee meeting that was held earlier this week.

And according to Autosport, the FOTA committee ruled unanimously to accept both new outfits into the fold.

The meeting also saw FOTA chairman Luca di Montezemolo confirm that he is stepping down and that the election process for the FOTA chairman will take place next month.

Another topic that was on the agenda was the idea of a single car launch for all 2010 teams. The plan, which has been proposed in a bid to cut costs, is for the launch to take place ahead of the first official test of 2010.

Red Bull did a very good job this season so you never will be able predict the results."
