JV: Massa can win the World title

Friday 11th April 2008

Jacques Villeneuve reckons Felipe Massa can win this year's World title after watching him put in a dominant display in Bahrain last Sunday.

Massa took the lead off the line and held on to claim his first win of the season ahead of his team-mate Kimi Raikkonen.

The victory earned the Ferrari driver a much-needed ten points and he now trails Raikkonen by nine points in the Drivers' standings.

It was an impressive turn around for the Brazilian as doubts had been raised about his ability earlier in the season.

However, Villeneuve reckons Massa has shown the world that he has what it takes to win the World title.

"Massa was amazing in Bahrain, and if he drives the way he did for the rest of the season then there is no stopping him to the World title," the 1997 World Champion told the Gulf News.

Asked for his thoughts on former Champ Fernando Alonso, who is struggling with Renault's lack of the pace this season, JV said he predicts Alonso won't give up the fight to improve.

"Alonso is a bull, he is a Spaniard and he has it in him to fight and give it his best shot till the end. And I am sure he will do so this year," Villeneuve said.
