Kimi warns rivals: We could've gone faster

Tuesday 29th April 2008

Kimi Raikkonen has issued a warning to Ferrari's rivals after comfortably winning Sunday's Spanish GP without even having to put his foot flat.

The reigning F1 Champion clinched his second victory of the season in Barcelona as the Scuderia claimed back-to-back 1-2 results. It was yet another display of Ferrari's superior speed, which was evident throughout the weekend.

However, worryingly for Raikkonen's rivals is the fact that the Finn says he wasn't even going flat-out.

"If we had wanted we could have gone faster, but there is no point pushing it when you've no need," the 2008 points-leader said.

"It was closer than we expected at the end, but saying that there were a couple of Safety Cars (following accidents).

"Without them maybe it would have looked a bit different, but it was a good day - everything was brilliant. The car was pretty good, although we can still improve it."

The Finn is now setting his sights on a Turkish GP victory in the hope of moving one step closer towards his goal of retaining the World title.

"I think our car should be quite strong there and it is a great circuit," he said. "I am looking forward to going there and doing the best we can.

"We had a great weekend here and we try and repeat it in Turkey, but whatever it brings, we need points and anything we get is always a bonus."
