BMW duo happy with Turkish results

Wednesday 14th May 2008

BMW duo Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld believe it was mission accomplished for them at the Turkish Grand Prix.

With Ferrari and McLaren occupying the three podium positions, Kubica and Heidfeld finished fourth and fifth respectively at Istanbul Park.

Kubica, who started fifth on the grid, says the P4 and P5 places were the best results they could've hoped for.

"I picked up some points," he told the BMW website.

"Fourth place was really as good as I could hope for. The start was not bad, and I gained two positions. Fourth place, and fifth for Nick, was the most our team could get out."

Team-mate Heidfeld believes his good start was one of the main reasons why he finished fifth.

"I cannot say that I am happy with my fifth place, but I also have no reason to be annoyed about the race," he said.

"It was important to pass Jarno Trulli at the start, and that worked out well. I couldn't make up any more positions; otherwise it would have been too tight in the first corner.

"That was the most I could possibly get out of the race."
